Rise of the Tomb Raider OT | Feat. 20% more tombs and 75% more chastising OP's title

One unwelcome thing I have noticed that's made the jump over from the previous game is XP Rewarding Boxes. Thankfully it's just the odd occasional locker here and there but when you've expanded your game in include a crafting system and upgrades use more components other than salvage just having these items that do nothing but give you XP just seems a little pointless. Still better than the past game where hunting was one of those activities that offered nothing of substance of than more XP in a game that showers you with it at every opportunity. Hopefully by Revenge of the Tomb Raider Crystal Dynamics find a balance between rewards the player and engaging with all they systems in place.

Wait, where? I've never encountered a box that only gave XP (they always give resources, though sometimes I'm capped. you should see them pop up on the right hand side of the screen. Red = you're capped on that).

I'm going to ask this again, for anyone with the digital deluxe edition. Do you see the season pass under the "manage game" menu/screen?

It says mine is installed but I don't see it anywhere.

Couple of the lockers in the Gulag that you lockpick. I'll keep an eye out next time I encounter one to see if they do give resources as well and I'm not being dense but can't remember anything but the XP meter filling up.

I took a look at my friend list: 10 play Fallout 4 and 7 play Rise of the Tomb Raider. Good numbers and I'm excited to know how the game will do after a week in terms of sales, because it would deserve a lot.

Played for about 3 hours or so. The stealth system seems super broken to me. I can fire an arrow to kill a guy and that gets the attention of the guy right in front of him who can't see it. But I can sneak up behind two guys and stealth kill one with melee and the other doesn't notice even though I'm right next to them.

Other than that slight annoyance, the game seems pretty fun so far. The tombs aren't super challenging or anything, but I don't really hold that against them.

Can't believe I spent 30 mins when I first got to the Soviet Instilation looking for the entrance to the tomb there only to give up, about 4 hours later just as I'm cleaning up collectables and missions in the area I spot the way in by accident and then realise the tutorial tomb teaches you the mechanic. In a different context and as a means to solve a puzzle rather than to gain entrance to somewhere but still was a head slapping 'd'oh' moment.

Also the bow skill Double Shot, is stupidly OP.

How do you get to the 2nd tomb there? The one on the far top right of the map?

I got to the one in the hole via the cave, but can't seem to work out how to get to that other one.

I know it has no chance because of the anger over exclusivity, but this is goty material, just brilliant, not only does it look stunning the whol exploring, hunting collecting resources for all your crafting and levelling up adds a whole new dimension, just doing the story is doing a massive dis service to the game...well done devs, well done

My problem is not knowing when to advance the story. There is so much to do but I think I need to unlock things before I can finish each stage (lots of branches blocking me in caves, rope arrows etc). I think once I finish the game though I most likely won't come back to it.

I think the only thing you need to be mind ful is the first area and the one before the end.

You can never get past branches. For some reason they put those in places instead of a wall.

Without spoiling it you need an upgrade to access the path to get there. The entrance is also not near the marker either if I remember correctly but Lara will say something about needing a tool to get the entrance open. You get it from progressing the main story for a bit further after getting to the Installation.

Great, some of my achievements are stuck with "Done!Unlcoking" it's so annoying that it doesn't notify you because I've been running around Geothermal Valley for hours , picking up
chickens and shooting them with fire arrows
when in actual fact I've already unlocked the achievement ... god dammit.

The bow multi-kill shot is ridiculous but I love it tbh. Get it, then upgrade it so you can target 3 at once, then upgrade it again so it only targets heads, then pick up the headshot chain XP boost and enjoy your broken levelling! :p

The thing I am having issues with is the dumb carrier pigeon side mission. I thought I just wasn't looking in the right place, but I watched videos and the thing is not where it is supposed to be.

Man, despite Fallout, Starcraft, CoD, Halo, and all the other great stuff that's come out lately I just find myself coming back to tomb raider constantly. The optional tombs are probably half of my playtime and have been really fun to work my way through.

Because it is not in a set place. It can be all over the soviet installation basically (well except the gulag). Look for a green glowing bird in instinct vision and then shoot it.

Wow! Based on your friends list then, Tomb Raider should have sold around 9 million copies!

This game is absolutely incredible. Witcher 3 to me is the best game ever made and is my default GOTY for 2015, but outside of that ROTR is easily the GOTY for me. It has completely blown me away in my 6 or so hours with it so far.

I think Lara is the most detailed character I've ever seen in a video game to this point. Take a look at her face next time you are in a Tomb or some wondrous place. She is looking at things and making faces of awe and stuff. Absolutely incredible. Add to that all of her facial animations, wringing out her hair when its wet, shivering and clattering teeth when its cold, and of course the insanely realistic hair. Incredible stuff.

If the gunplay was a bit better, this game would be in legendary status. Maybe that will be fixed on PC with 60fps. I will most certainly double dip on this game, can't imagine it looking EVEN BETTER on PC.

This game can look really stunning, but some areas are kinda jarring in how bad they look. The one area not very far in
where Konstantin pushes the guys eyes in with his thumbs
, the outside part is a shimmer fest. It's so odd considering everything else looks good. Also, the input lag destroys aiming. It's a huge step back from the last game. It really should be patched.

I hope it does well. In the UK I think it may do better than most expect.

Has it been revealed yet what you get in the season pass?

I'm intrigued to know what kind of dlc this game will have.

The Season Pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider includes a range of content that will extend your single-player campaign, and also allow you to compete with friends. Three major releases will challenge you to survive the extreme conditions of Endurance Mode, explore a new tomb that houses an ancient terror in Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, and combat waves of infected predators in Cold Darkness Awakened. In addition, a steady stream of outfits, weapons, and Expedition Cards beginning on Day 1 and continuing over four months will keep you customizing, expanding, and challenging your friends to new adventures.

From the Xbox page

Some info on Baba Yaga:

Q: What is Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch?

A: Baba Yaga is a story expansion that adds a new region and quest line to the campaign.

As much as I am a fan of Tomb Raider, I won't be purchasing it until we actually see something. Baba Yaga does intrigue me though.

About the same amount of hours in and I feel the same right now. If the PC version gets some good upgrades I'd be happy to buy it again.

Anyone else experiencing somewhat significant input lag with this game? There's a noticeable delay between when I move the right stick and when the camera starts moving. It's really hindering an otherwise fantastic game.

I like how she references the horrors of the first game and that she's not too surprised about being put in less than ideal circumstances.

Digital Foundry noted that, yeah. Its probably the biggest reason why I'm waiting for the PC version. I'm sure the improved framerate should fix that.

Does anyone else have achievements stuck in the Done! Unlocking... state?

I have at least 2 that show 100% complete but that I didn't get the achievement for.
One of them was 10 kills by shooting someone in the leg.
Can't remember the other offhand.
