Twilight Princess HD officially announced.

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
Did look disappointing for a remaster. Here's hoping things will improve, not like Nintendo never shows games with unfinished graphics.

Honestly looks exactly an hd remaster. Looking the trailer on the eshop make it look e pretty shiny and clean

Idk man, gyro aiming seels so good. Playing MM3D right now and it's as good as pointing for me. But of course I play splatoon with gyro controls.

double clawshot was something different though. there's a marked difference in the response time with skyward sword and twilight princess, but basically in the wii version you turn into spider-man, thwipping around the dungeon as quickly as you can aim and select. it's great.

With all this Zelda hype I just have to say how much I love my WiiU in this regard. I mean, my console is loaded with six Zelda titles. Add to that my Wii discs of Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword and I have a single console where I can play eight Zelda titles from six different systems. And two more will join the fray next year. Marvelous.

I apologize for interrupting all the complaining. Carry on.

I didn't expect to see Spirit tracks in your pic. But for all the shit that game got, I couldn't help but smile when I saw it. It may be flawed to hell and back but personally I absolutely loved it.

I never fully understood a lot of the criticism the two DS games got as I quite liked the controls (which seems to be the main issue for many). Phantom Hourglass is a clever little game that brought some actual puzzles and there was lots of them, too. Spirit Tracks took this to the next level with fewer, but more refined, puzzles. I even got stuck in the game! Spirit Tracks in particular is one of my favorite Zelda games and I love how Zelda herself got an actual role and personality in this game. The only issue I really had with it was one of the flute segments. I even enjoyed riding a train. >_<'

I haven't played it before and seems like it's time to give it a shot. I wasn't exactly blown away by Phantom Hourglass when it was released but it was still a decent little game with fun controls. By the time ST came out I had already sold my DS. Feels nice to have all these different Zeldas in one place and be able to catch up on the once I missed.

I played Minish Cap for the first time on VC as well and I loved it. Hopefully Spirit Tracks will scratch some of the itch for new Zelda. At least until TPHD rolls around.

Well PH was a bit... forgettable. I actually don't remember anything about it. But ST was a completely different story, plus the music was godly.

Sorry for going OT, promise won't bring this up in the this thread again.

Alright, I'll finally play it. It's the big gaping moist hole in my Zelda library. Tried it on the wii but found it to be a chore and gave up.

This is getting a physical release?

Say what you will about Spirit Tracks, but it has one of the best soundtracks in the series. Kinda like Wind Waker, but better IMO.

ALBW is much better than the two DS games, but there both fun little experiments in their own rights. Touchscreen functionality made use of classic items in fresh new ways. B tier Zelda for me, but that's still better than most series.

Didn't they have to reanimate cutscenes, though? Because Link was made right-handed? I swore I read that somewhere.
No. The reason it was mirrored at all was because they didn't want to redo the animations since they'd have to redo them for every single thing Link can do. So they mirrored it just to make it easy and completely destroy tradition. I am so glad Lefty Link is back! Stupid waggle controls.

Also because it looked wrong to have a lefty Link when you were swinging the Wiimote with your right hand.

People love to shit on VC for many reasons (most of them right haha), but it's impressive how well represented some franchies are on Wii U.
You can play every single Zelda console entry if you own a Wii U (Majora's Mask is in the Wii shop). You can play almost every Mario console entry too (Sunshine is the only one missing). There are like 20 Mega Man games there too. All DK console platformers are in VC. I've really enjoyed playing through most Nintendo franchises these past years on my Wii U!

Personally, I find Spirit Tracks to be the best handheld Zelda to date, which is funny, because I found Phantom Hourglass to be the worse. The core gameplay in PH was solid, but the tedium of that temple of the ocean king really dragged that game into the pits. Spirit Tracks fixed most of the issues I had with PH and still managed to be innovative. I absolutely loved that game!

You'd love the 3DS too. I think it's the superior Zelda machine :)

Double clawshot with gyro aiming + proper button controls for melee combat?

This game is going to have the GOAT Zelda gameplay.

Still wish they'd do a better job with the lighting.

Gyro is a nice compromise if you still want the traditional controller layout, but IR aiming is still far superior.

It's gonna be great to have gyro aiming in this, it was wonderful in WWHD. I feel like once we get a better understanding of the Full Package people will look on this game more favorably.

I am not that impressed with visuals. But is looking okay. I was expecting the visuals of the game to be like the ones showed in the tech demo. But I am okay with that and still there is a chance that they improve the visuals a little, like several other titles.

I just hope that they include something to track / register the location of that damn poe souls. When I played the game on Game Cube, at a certain point I was missing two damn souls and needed to look the entire map, a few times until I found it. If they had something like that informed that certain areas are completed and other no, would make it easier to look and found them.

What the Poe Soul quest really needed was a way for you to manually make it night. You can manually make it day by going to the City in the Sky, but it's the only Zelda with a day/night system where you can't manually make it night, which is odd considering such a heavily involved quest requires it.

That would be a nice addition, along with adding an option to the fortune teller to help you find Poes.

Twilight Princess HD remake
The first Zelda game to be released on the Wii is now coming to the WiiU in an HD remake. That leaves just one Zelda game left to remake – 2011’s Skyward Sword – before the company will have officially run out of games to remake. Will it be forced to release the remake of the (currently untitled) WiiU Zelda before the actual game comes out? Only time will tell.

Personally I enjoyed PH. It had a lot of clever and different puzzles and mechanics. I felt the touch controls brought an interesting and different game play style. It was a bit basic but I guess I also had tempered expectations given it was a 3D(sort of) DS title. I mean did people see Mario 64 DS and all other 3D DS titles and see how "ambitious" they could be. I felt the developers took the best advantage of the system with a 3D title as they could. Although they did have a habit of occasionally leaning on to the side of intrusive with some of the gimmicks. Having to constantly return to the central dungeon actually didn't bother me. I thought it was fun and although a little tedious at times, it can't be any more tedious than having to backtrack throughout the Metroid Prime Trilogy. I thought the story was cute and Linebeck especially was great.

ST in many ways is much better in terms of music, dungeon design, story, touch controls, puzzles, Zelda spirit mechanic, etc. But the flute mechanic just killed me. It just would not work for me at some points. I had to spend a day trying to get through one of the later songs. On top of that the side quests aspect and how it tied to the overworked was cool and opened up further places to explore. However the train and over world aspect just wasn't that fun. If you want to include a train in a future title please allow us to travel the over world on foot as well. Trains in a Zelda title could be used to complete side quests, fast travel or access hidden areas but don't tether that as the only mode of exploration and the "realms" aspect felt rather sloppy and lazy in terms of over world design.

They are insinuating that Nintendo does so many Zelda-remakes that they would release a remake of Zelda U before the original even comes out. Which is quite nonsensical, especially considering the long time between the original releases and remasters/remakes of the games.

Just found a amazing screenshot of the community remaster of TP.

a68efae0aa.png

To me, this looks exactly how I would imagine a TP HD and miles better than the actual TP HD.

I heard some people don't like the look of the community remaster, but keep in mind its not finished yet and the lighting effects are already VERY impressive. Plus, there are tons of modern effects, there will be gameplay enhancements and a remastered soundtrack, which is amazing.

Why does this remake has so much more effort than the actual TP HD? I don't get it. Its just a texture pack....

I hope Nintendo changes the lighting for its actual TP HD. Otherwise, I plan on getting a High End PC next year to play the community remaster (yes, I'm crazy)

One of the reasons why I love City in the Sky as a dungeon. It was quick, fun and made you feel like a badass.

Anyway on Twilight Princess HD, thinking it over for the last couple of days, I'm not sure if I'm up for a new round of the Twilight Realm. Comparing it to all the other 3D Zelda games I've played it's my least favourite. Note: least favorurite. It's still a great game, but it has some things that kind of bug me after I completed it.

The Meh/Bad

- Aonuma confirmed it a while ago, but TP was still influenced by fans who were clamoring for a new OoT like adventure and EAD 3 decided to go with it. Even if OoT is my number one game of all time, I can't help but think that TP wanted to be that game soooo bad and it muddled up it's own identity. Shame really. Every other 3D Zelda had it's own face. OoT was the first time the 3D formula worked, Majora's Mask had a really strange structure which was amazing, Wind Waker was wildly different and Skyward Sword mixed up some things as well. I kinda missed that in TP.
- I really dislike the Twilight Realm and collecting drops. Felt more of a chore than fun.
- Link's wolf form never reaches it's full potential. I always felt there could be more interesting things done with it.
- Story spoilers:
Zant just being a puppet truly disappointed me. He was a cool new villain and him breaking down at the end was fantastic. But then they pulled a "But it was actually me, Ganondorf. Eh.
- Hyrule Field is empty. And boring.
- Water Temple was meh again.
- Bosses are pretty easy to beat.
- The Spinner needed more time to shine. Arbiters Ground is amazing because of it. But after completing the dungeon... it just sits around in your inventory.

The Good

- Arbiters Ground, Snow Manor, City in the Sky: it has some fantastic dungeons.
- Even if the bosses are a bit too easy, they're still awesome.
- Midna. By far the best compagnion Link had in a Zelda game. (Next to Zelda herself in Spirit Tracks) It's one of the reasons why I'm considering to get it again. Midna as a character really shines through out the game and has actual character development. Starting out from this mean spirited little imp she slowly shows her true colors. Wonder if the Zelda team can ever outdo themselves in that regard.
- Riding and fighting horseback on Epona. Fun.
- The returning bridge battles with the giant Bulbin. It became a funny inside joke.
- Malo is the superior showkeeper.
- I really enjoy the design of the Zora's and Goron's in TP. A step up from the OoT days.
- Spinner in Arbiters Ground.
- Twin clawshot, aaaawwww yeah

Guess I'll have to think it over lol.

So I decided to play the direct footage on my TV and then I booted up the game on my Wii U to compare.....holy shit. Textures and enhancements are much bigger than I thought. I was just remembering the game looking better than it actually did. Besides the textures most of that muddy filter feels fine, the contrast has been upped a bit and it looks like the lighting has been improved a bit to me. Either way I'll definitely be picking this up when it releases in March. More than enough of an upgrade for me.

Actually most of the items in your inventory was relatively useless. Gale Boomerang? Used like 3 times after the first dungeon. Ball and Chain? Used it like once after the dungeon you got it in. Spinner is quite obvious. They really needed to utilize the inventory items more. Pretty much just hack/slash and occasional clawshot and B&A.

If you aren't using the ball and chain against every enemy after you get it, clearly there's a problem on your end.

I got my pre-order from GameStop, but I'm calling in to EB Games in Canada so I can get this pre-order without wasting money on shipping due to the weak dollar. Has anyone had luck pre-ordering the amiibo bundle in Canada anywhere? Amazon, Best Buy, etc.?
