Am i too much of a fanboy when i say Bethesda has a point when they basically say 100 bug testers is nothing compared to the millions of gamers playing? Sure you could argue that they should hire more bug testers, but for some reason they don't. My own personal experience has been very very smooth so far.

In Sanctuary, is it possible to move settlers away from the house where the workshop is located? Made a building that's meant to act as a central hub, with stores, beds and all that stuff, but a good amount of NPCs still spend most of their time hammering non-existent nails into that one house.

Perception Bobblehead is tied to the very first mission where you meet the minutmen.
Big Gun Bobblehead is tied to main story progression.
Charisma Bobblehead is tied to a somewhat lengthy side mission.
The rest can be obtained freely.

I'm aware of the sidequest for Charisma, but I can enter bunker hill without starting any of the story/faction quests. Right?

(I'm assuming that's where I need to go to get into the damn place anyway)

Having to hunt down a bunch of components that I don't have makes me not really want to play. Not having to build stuff.

It's not like you need a lot of special stuff? I just set up a supply line with the outpost where I dumped all my junk and I could build everything straight away.

Fincher's Farm question.
How the hell did people beat the leader of The Forged? I ran out the room and even then had to do a lot of sniping and running around. Level 14. Also Strong sucks. He gave up attacking the guy after a while. Is that a thing, do companions run away from powerful enemies?

I was fortunate enough to have two out of three components already. It's not bad, I'm pretty sure they're all fairly short areas and you'll probably score some loot in the process.

I think that guy's a lot stronger than level 14. I remember finding the Forged around that level and they were doing so much damage to me that I just bolted and returned when I was level 30.

I keep reading about settlements and items and I'm wondering what am I really missing out by having a low Charisma character as far as equipment is concerned?

I get the quality of life improvements like supply lines and easy to reach vendors but what unique/ high level items am I depriving myself of? At my level/ difficulty I can easily just do runs through the map doing radiant missions and find legendary after legendary and doing so grants me exp/ caps/ ammo. Would investing my time in settlements yield anything particularly interesting to justify raising Charisma, learning the perks, and then working on higher tier settlements at higher levels? Unless I find a truly compelling reason I'm saving that for another character.

You don't automatically start any faction quest. You need to meet a certain character, who will be in either of the 3 cities to get the side quest starting.

What difficulty level are you playing on? I took out the guys around the place and inside without much trouble but he spanked me many times before I realized running out of that room and playing cat and mouse was my only option.

As an aside I fell off an overpass onto a rooftop garden and came face to face with an
alpha deathclaw
not long after that. I thought I was beyond fucked. I ended up taking him out by keeping him on the opposite side of a fountain and taking careful shots in VATS. Felt pretty damned good. The built up areas of the city are total nests of enemies. It's cool feeling like death could be around any corner while exploring the ruins of a huge city.

Finally found the ultimate sniping gear.

Any good building tutorial videos yet to pass the time at work and get me ready for when I try this weekend?

honestly I don't know if any tutorial is worth it until we know for a fact via a patch what they fix and whether local leader is worth it outside of junk for materials.

The house is in Sanctuary. I just built the stuff in it. Sadly, it's also the house where the random guys always "fake work", so at times some guys will be "within my shelf" and hammer on the wall for no reason. lol

good luck not having settlers steal/take your comic collection and put it on the floor somewhere.

Jamaica Plains would be my location of choice but the build limit is a bit low : /

though maybe I shouldn't be surrounding my entire camp with junk walls. Also, plz stop floating, junk walls.

Any other cool urban settlement areas? The Slog up North is pretty great but it's in a really dour location.

So that's why they are on the ground sometimes? I thought that was a bug. It's easily fixable by going into the inventory screen of the shelf and then just leave. Everything is put back automatically since they are still considered to be in that shelf's inventory. I also have one comic double and I don't know why. It even shows up in the inventory with (2). First shelf in the front. Grognak comic.

Found all Bobbleheads and most magazines. I don't think I will find any more.

Still working on my "Comfy Pillow" collection tho.
Will the game automatically place them on the shelf like that or did you have to manually pose them all?

Wasn't sure if the Brotherhood of Steel was the only quest you can technically skip ahead on. Met Danse purely by accident and had no idea about the first quest.

Great job brother. Damn.

Also make your entrance only accessible to you and settlers can't come in. Like a container that you have to jump on to reach your door or something.

Well the Railroad quest is rather obtuse. You may get it, but don't know it will lead to it. If you want to skip it for the time being, don't do
"Follow the Freedome Trail"
.

I lowered my health via console command for a more realistic experience. Now enemies go down fairly easily but I do too.

Stealthboy, pickpocketed his fusion core while he talked about bullshit.

One of my greatest gaming moments.

Oh my god getting a settlement to 100 happiness suuuuuucks. I've literally sat in the settlement for four hours with 15 stores set up and it's only gone up to 88. At some point, everybody that was manning a store decided to walk into the middle of the settlement all grouped together and I had to reassign each one. What a pain in the ass.

I read on Reddit that tvs work for some reason.

Try , you never know.

Nah, not at all. I have a charisma of 3 and all you're missing out on are settlement features from local leader. I have no shortage of ammo, crafting components, etc.

I've never been able to get the console command to change SPECIAL values to work.

I'm trying player.modav intelligence 2

(trying to add 2 to intelligence)

am I doing something wrong?

player.setav intelligence "8"

You have to set it to what you want. So if you have 6 put 8.
