X86, faster processors and faster and more ram

Yet now we have hd assets at higher framerates and a slow ass hdd (consoles use old SATA2)

They need to engineer out bottlenecks but i guess you couldnt sell consoles at 400 then..

They could at least meake the connectors high speed so the consumer can opt to upgrade

Could the CPUs handle the bandwidth though?

If the consoles are higher spec, developers will find other ways to push the hardware and create bottlenecks elsewhere. It's why pretty graphics tend to always get priority over frame rates and load times.

It's a case of accepting the limitations of a $400 system

Wait, so the Xbox version loads faster? How much faster?
That doesn't really make sense...

Who said that? It seems to be a server connection issue that would affect both.

Edit: Seriously though, what were these assholes thinking with the connection attempts every goddamn time you so much as look at the map?

We're hearing people with both versions saying the post-death load is like 20-30 seconds.

I misunderstood the people talking about the Xbox version running better, I guess the Xbox version just has a better framerate?

Guys, the game continuously checks the servers to keep track of tiny in-game challenges that the players have set and if they were beaten, we are informed in the game. Like "X challenge beaten by player Y hours ago". I have honestly no idea who even thought this was a good idea?

It can be played in "offline mode" but it won't track your challenges beaten this way, not that many will care anyways.

I think the servers on launch day will be interesting to see.

What's crazy is that even when entering offline mode it keeps trying to reconnect minutes later.

Why is it always shoot the messenger and protect a company with so many gamers?

In fairness, Mad Max is legit and even I doubted the legitimacy of this claim. Add in that while JC2 wasn't perfect, it didn't have anywhere near as many of these issues on consoles.

Seems the different team doing the work might have been the wrong move and they should have just waited until the Mad Max team was done....

Pretty comforting to know that these are the people that Square Enix consulted for technical advice for FFXV.

Post death load times on Xbox for me are about 20 seconds I'd say. Never seen one this long. The initial load is about 1.5-2 minutes which is pretty terrible, but it is loading the whole world so I can let it off.

I am slightly concerned about the servers constantly trying to reconnect and failing randomly even when you've chosen to play offline after it fails to connect. If it's doing this now then launch day will be hell. It should just stay offline.

Regarding performance the Xbox One version was terrible yesterday. Erratic frame rate just driving around in a car resulting in controller response lag. I had a 2.9gb update today and it's been vastly improved. I'm really enjoying the game now. It still has slowdown during big explosions and action (which does lead to unresponsive controls) but it's not that bad anymore.

The OP is a hyperbole. This is not the norm and presenting it as such will only give false impressions before launch.

Even if it's not the norm it's nothing to literally (literally literally) attack an outlet's writer over

I love Mad Max but it's not a great game, it's a perfect 7/10 game and there's nothing wrong with that.

I can deal with an uneven framerate on XB1, but those load times and those "Connecting..." popups need to be addressed. This is a singleplayer game, that is bullshit. Having leaderboards for every challenge that let you compete with your friends is nifty - but that's all it is. I would rather have no leaderboards on anything if it meant I never had to see those annoying popups again.

Ya, that's how I feel about it. There is a 10/10 Mad Max game out there just waiting to be made, but it won't happen just ripping off Assassin's Creed and Batman and adding some light car combat.

I've played worse games than Mad Max this year, but I've also played significantly better ones, too.

I'd go offline to nix em but then you can't stream. I'm sure once their servers are up it won't be a big deal but this is sooooooooo annoying like bad design 101.

I think people are misunderstanding what that means:

It was reported last month that Squeenix is toying with the idea of adding airship vehicles to FF15 and working with Avalanche on the matter. I don't think the implication is that FF15 may switch to the Just Cause engine, though, but rather said engine is the most logical choice for moving such a concept beyond the paper phase given the nature of the Just Cause games and Squeenix's pre-existing relationship with the studio.

Guys.... I find it strange that I am the only one who isn't having these connection issues :S

Neither in the online or the offline mode. I don't see any connection issues that are annoying. The only one that I remember is that sometimes when we start the game, the game won't connect to SE server or take a long time to start.

P.S I am playing the game's Middle East copy FWIW.

I may have missed it, but which version of the game are you playing?

I'm wondering does it also have to do with the Xbox achievements not quite being live yet so it's messing with the game's servers an extra amount.

How odd. Mad Max was pretty technically competent on consoles, I thought. Mostly steady frame-rate with loading times that were not mild enough that I can't recall them being an issue.

Hasn't been my experience, but I'm playing on PC. Video above. (Quality is low, because I just uploaded it. It'll get better eventually.)

Here's my initial load times for Just Cause 3 running on:

Intel Core i7-4790K
Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
Samsung 840 EVO SSD

1:18 for initial startup and around 8 seconds after each death. Note, I do log online. Personally, when I was playing, I felt it was one of the faster loading open world games.

Yeah its lame. Sorry.
Haha, you don't have to apologize. Just a bummer :/.

It happened to me in Black Ops 3 recently. The online version of the campaign has a different save file than the offline version. I got to the second to last level and couldn't play campaign because the servers were down.

Don't know how reviewers didn't even mention that.
