TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan rated. (Activision, Platinum Games, PC/PS4/XB1/360/PS3)

Recently, yes. Saito delivers to me glorious combat without drowning it in poorly conceived mini-games and wonky pacing.

You can't really call Saito better than Kamiya when Saito's best game is the second iteration (after Bayo 2) of a Kamiya combat system with a basically non-existent campaign. Like, come on.

MGR was really good tho.

Vanquish?

It took them one try to make the best
(at least mechanically speaking)
.

Hope the art style is based on a comic variation or the current Nick show. I can't see the round looking early cartoon turtles working as anything but sprites.

Hope the music is top notch.

TMNT by Platinum has potential to bring the Turtles back in a big way. Hopefully the designs actually look good...

Which is another reason why I'm glad they seem to be going with something more along the lines of IDW.

The 2014 and Nick Turtles already have the stench of shovelware attached to them. And another 80s throwback would mainly attract those who really can't let those turtles go.

A new game, that pretty much is a standalone product that can become its own thing, separate from every other TMNT medium (not unlike how Batman Arkham is to the rest of Batman), would be what I imagine to be the most ideal.

And like with Arkham, skins could always be an option.

The IDW series is awesome, I hope they are close to that.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.

It is wise to remember Saito was lead programmer on Bayonetta.

I also enjoyed Rising and Transformers more than I did Bayonetta 2. Saito is the special sauce.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
So what do we have coming up?

Star Fox Zero (Nintendo)
Scalebound (Microsoft)
Nier Automata (Square-Enix)
TMNT Mutants in Manhattan (Activision/Nickelodeon)
Project Guard (Nintendo)

Platinum getting work!

Also, reminder that they do not own any of the games they make. Sega owns Bayonetta & Vanquish, Nintendo owns W101, Konami owns Revengeance, and Activision/Hasbro owns Transformers Devastation

Had no idea they are on Project Guard. Any more about this?

Even though I complained earlier about not really being excited about this current batch of games, I am very happy they are getting plenty of work.

Awesome. I'm not super into TMNT, but I thought Korra was decent and Transformers seems to be great as far their licensed stuff goes.

I wonder if it will be based on the ongoing Nick cartoon, or it's gonna be its own thing like Transformers.

huh this might be the first time I'm interested in a Platinum title in awhile, i do wonder what style they will be going with. any style would be fine in my book besides the 80s cartoon, hopefully that's not the case

Wall Street Journal blog

WSJ: Why don’t more games make such innovative use of the GamePad controller?

Miyamoto: Last year at E3, we showed a number of different experiments using the GamePad, some of which we’ve already released and some we’re preparing for release now and showing here. There are others, like “Project Guard,” which we showed last year and are progressing on. Project Guard is a game we’re working on together with Platinum Games as well.

There's speculation that it's part of Star Fox Zero, but we'll see.

IDW Turtles, please. The cast has a lot of potential. Now I just await the day for the release of Mutant Warriors in HD or rerelease on current or future consoles with netplay.

Cool, but I wanted Rocksteady to have develop TMNT.

Ever since Korra, this team at Platinum is hired to do all Activisions IP's on a budget scale.

TMNT as a game needs lore as well as action, and character development.

Platinum will give us the action but not the lore.

I know the lore. All I need is gameplay. Rocksteady would make a game I'd play once. Platinum will give me one I'll play for years.

MORE LIKE TREASURE GAMES AMIRITE.

AMIRITE.

...AMIRITE.

I miss Treasure...
We're never getting Gaist Crusher are we?
I shouldn't say that. We're getting Dragon Quest VII, we might get it eventually. ... On NX Handheld.

That's like the opposite of true.

Lore is always fun for those of us that don't know it, easter eggs and all. Rocksteady I feel would do the property more justice in that regard.

Platinum is no slouch when it comes to character action though. Day one!

Korra and Transformers are cool and I own them both but their a little lite in the ass.

Oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaawd!

Please, please please, use the same art as the opening form the original animated series. If Transformers could so can 80's TMNT.
Cash in that nostalgia and make a great game out of it.
The majority of people will not give a damn for the comic artstyle (wouldnt mind this one, but I certainly prefer the animated series), nor the 2000, nor the movies, nor the CGI.

Te BEST and ONLY.

This is the best design the turtles had. Perfect mix of fun charisma and coolness. I always found the original comics too much.

But that's not Turtles in Time...

Though yeah, Manhattan Project was great too. So was the original arcade game and Hyperstone Heist on the Genesis.

But a new Turtles game made by Platinum? Yes please.

Turtles in Time does not hold up. Go play it now. It's quite simply one of the most boring side scrolling beat em ups I've played. It was fun when I was like 12, but compared to anything used to playing today it's sad.

I play it all the time. Definitely holds up. Better than most modern beatemups for sure.

DMC4 recycled assets from DMC3, DMC4SE from DMC4 Dante and fucking Sengoku Basara, Ninja Gaiden 3 and 2 from NG1, Batning Returns and FF13-2 from FF13, etc etc. Few console games are made completely from scratch.

that's nice, but it has nothing to do with anything and does not make me less sick of a combat engine that has only gotten more stripped down with each "iteration" since its first game 6 years ago.

Expected a lot more from Platinum when it comes to character action games. now it seems like they put them together like Ikea Furniture. oh and that loot system in transformers ololol

i'll believe it's a real effort when I see it.

Serious question: why is acti of all people giving Platinum work.

It's making me concerned.

They're a smart business. They know there's a sizable overlap of people that love Platinum games and the licenses they've picked. From there, word of mouth spreads about there finally being a good *insert license here* game.

Yeah it does. Single player and co-op. The graphics are still great, the soundtrack is much better than anything UBI or later Konami did with the franchise after SNES/Genesis (Hyperstone Heist fall in with TiT), and its nice for a quick playthrough every so often.

I'm bored of Batman combat.

Too bad the combat system that Arkham games set that other games copied leading to the mechanics being over used.

But the dual play mechanic in Arkham Knight was Rocksteady teasing us how they would handle a TMNT game.

That mechanic alonecwould let you play all four Turtles in a footclan brawl, seamlessly switching from Turtle to Turtle.

Still holds up. Still like playing it, especially with a friend.

Hellllllllll to the YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Now all platinum needs to announce is a Voltron game and a Thundercats game and I'll die happily.

Arcade version? Yeah, you're right. SNES version still holds up decently enough though, and this is coming from someone who played through the entirety of it with some friends a few weeks back.

Would be epic of its based off the 80's Turtles, but wouldn't complain if it's based off the new show as its really good. I mostly want it based off the 80's series just so we can get some nice cell shading.

Thinking about the old TMNT games, they were all mostly based off the 80s cartoon but also added elements from the movies like Toka, Razhar, Tetsu & Super Shredder

P* has done pretty well in this regard too, just not in a way that has to be right in your face all the time.

In-game lore database that tells you everything you need to know about the game's cast, enemies and even locations. Little trivia bits that you can read at any time. The Bayonettas and even TF:Dev had everything you needed in that respect.

Come on Activision open up the servers for Platinum and give us some 4 player online jump in and out co-op

That would be great, have a bot play when its not a human player
