Madcatz Descriptions:
http://madcatz.com/street-fighter-v-arcade-fightstick/

Continuing with our award winning tournament grade arcade sticks, we have the Street Fighter V Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition S+ (TE-S+) and Street Fighter V Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2+ (TE2+). We listened to the feedback from the gaming community that really fell in love with the original Tournament Edition FightSticks, so we decided to bring it back in form of the TE-S+. Why the plus? We’re adding L3 and R3 buttons, full touch panel compatibility (gesture and button press) along with a refined case for a new generation of Street Fighter. Similarly, we’re doing the same with the TE2, which will also have the additional button and touch panel functionality built in.

The FightStick Alpha is a new level of control that is both compact and ideal for travel/storage yet does not sacrifice the bare necessities of competitive standard. Holding true to it’s legacy, it plays brilliantly in your lap or on a flat surface and maintains a genuine arcade layout.

The FightPad PRO is the evolution of our six-button fighting controller, which takes the floating d-pad concept to the next level in terms of control and precision. Much like it’s bigger brother, the FightStick, the FightPad PRO now comes with a bevy of options that allows you to play YOUR style and control the way YOU want. From it’s different functionality switches and the ability to control using either the high-quality d-pad or analog stick, the FightPad PRO really gives you the form/function to decimate those that stand in your path.

I think Madcatz makes great products but the prices have been absolutely absurd lately. The whole reason the original TE caught on was because it was so reasonable ($130), and selling the TES+ for $70 more just seems nuts to me. I know MCZ is in dire financial straits but it just doesn't work for me. I feel like you'd be better off getting a Hori RAP Kai for $150 - the far majority of people should be fine with the hayabusa stick and kuro buttons, but even if you'd rather swap in Sanwa parts that would come to around $185 ($150 + $20 stick + $15 buttons) which is still cheaper than that TES+.

The Fight Stick Alpha is reasonable ($80) but the Amazon listing doesn't mention swappable buttons/stick at all so I guess they're bolted in, which is a shame.

What's the functionality difference between the TE 2+ and the TE S+?

Also, I'm a bit miffed that I bought a Guilty Gear TE2 that doesn't have touch pad functionality at all, but now the new version has it. I don't like that I don't have full button functionality because I bought it early.

Glad they made a version with a simpler case (Shadaloo TES+). I really don't like the goofy angled one they've been using on most of their newer stuff like on the Ryu one.

But man that Mad Catz logo is such an eye sore. Do they have to make it so big?

S+ looks great and the Alpha looks like a good starter for those who want to transition to a stick without the bloated price and size.

I've plenty of sticks, but I'd consider the S+, bank balance permitting.

That's cool.

But I'm still waiting for them to get back to me on the brand new but broken Ultra Street Fighter IV TE 2 Fight Stick I shipped to their warranty service center in September. So I've been waiting for 3 months now. Their customer service has not been helpful. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.

My original TE cost me $150. Why the $50-80 price hike?

Maybe because SF5 is PC and PS4 exclusive? It's always been hard for me to understand how a box with $50 worth of buttons is worth 4x that price. They do seem to hold their value though. I built a 360 one a few years ago with the help of the joystick forums and shroyuken forums for around $80 and its actual wood not plastic.

Will it have a touch pad button tho

nvm should've read

I'll probably sell my current TE2 and get one of these.. if it comes to Canada.

Does the Fight Pad Pro have a headphone jack?

That's the deal breaker for me on Hori's fight pad commander...

Edit: Looks like the Fightpad Pro doesn't have a headphone jack. God Dammit MadCatz! How am I supposed to play Street Fighter V late at night after my wife is asleep?

Fuck.

Going to go with the alpha stick as my first fighting stick. SFV will be the first fighting game I want to dive deep in.

Preordering the TE2 thank god Amazon doesn't charge until it's time to ship just in case buyers remorse kicks in.

Better safe than sorry, can't wait!

MGS Outer Heaven edition!!

anyways these sticks look nice.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw that.

Cool. I havn't even had my a Chun Li stick a week and this gets revealed. That's kind of some bull shit.

What is the difference between these and the Chun Li sticks? I examined them and it looks like the new ones have touch pads and R3/L3.

I'm not really sure about anything else (or even 100% on that) and I don't know what the difference between the two new sticks are other than the art and $30.

Was your original TE compatible with two consoles not counting any replacement PCBs or mods?

These are for PS3 and PS4 after all.

It should be compatible with two different consoles. Only reason it isn't is because Sony and Capcom don't want them to be.

Outside of the te2+ those are ugly as shit.

I think the Alpha looks neat. I can see why you would say they are ugly though lol. Kinda want it but if it's too light that will be an issue.

I still want a fightpad too but, I don't know if it can replace the Fighting Commander 4 for me.

TE2+ is fully moddable

That's bizarre as hell that the TES+ is 200 bucks and isn't fully moddable. Even for Madcatz. Especially considering there are sticks that are between 70 and 150 bucks that are easily moddable.

What quality are people expecting from the Alpha?

A legit stick you can do well with or just for casual play and messing around?

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Alpha looks good for a ton of people. I'm not saying it's super quality, but that looks perfect for an entry level stick for a large swath of the FGC.

Sucks that the next step up is $199 though with no middle ground.
