Thank you OP for having an OT that I can view on my phone. Actual text. Not just images with text embedded.

Thanks, I prefer text-based OTs myself for searchability :)

You're very welcome!

now off to adding all your guys' NNIDs to a list ...jeez.

How does it compare to the original? I bought it and tried to play, but graphically it was just too far below par... I couldn't do it.

Should I jump in on X? Is it the better game?

Not playing Xenoblade because of the graphics makes me so sad. :( The art design of that world is amazing - I think it trumps what graphical limitations it has. I still think it looks amazing, though. There's always Dolphin if you have a good enough computer.

I can't say anything about the quality of Xenoblade X (mine is arriving tomorrow), but I really doubt I'll prefer it over the original simply due to the change in story structure.

My special edition probably won't get here until next week, but I've played the game plenty already >_>. NNID should be cawrus.

Also linking my sheet again because it's color-coded and I'm proud of that.
Still missing some online stuff and equipment, and everything in English :(

Audio Language: English-only. There's no JP voice track, sadly. (Disc is at full capacity)

Wait, WTF?

I thought this was going to have dual audio?
I was ready to buy Wii U and this game tomorrow, glad I did not.

EDIT: After my initial bad reaction, I might still buy it because I want to play the game. I'm just disappointed.

Most of us haven't played it, so we don't know! At least this one should be graphically more in line with what you can bear, though.

I thought that joke about Linkin Park doing the soundtrack was serious and tried to look it up :( I'm an idiot for both that and the fact that it's increased my interest in the game. It does actually look fantastic. What a good time to be a JRPG fan who owns a WiiU! Great and informative OT also.

Haha ...have you heard the main battle theme yet? :D

I am way more upset over this thread title than I thought I would be. Why would you go with this over the plethora of good options you had?

Avoiding the game simply because of not having Japanese audio? Does an English dub really hurt it THAT much that you won't play? o.o

Xenoblade's dub was awesome - charming/cheesy and all.

Just wondering, because I'm not like this and it seems so foreign to me, but why/how is this such a deal breaker, everything else being equal?

That's the thing. At least the should release an optional patch to give us the dual audio.
Damn, can't believe this.

Waiting for the install packages to finish installing.

NNID: Keasar

Excited!

As I understand it, you can either participate in a "Squad" where (I think 32?) players help each other in group oriented quest objectives, hunting specific resources and monsters that gets totalled in a collected tally. Once reached, everyone gets rewards etc. etc.

Then there are also high level super monsters where you play with 3 other players online to fight against in battles.

You can join the squad of people on your friend's list.

So joining other players part

Kinda like Monster Hunter? In the sense that I can play with gaf online, as a party member instead of an AI at any time?

I have not seen any gameplay of this, only the 32 players online helping each other but not actually playing along side each other

Anyways, my NNID: jorgejjvr

Feel free to add, just write Xeno :p

English is as foreign as Japanese to me, but I can speak both and I want the original language + voice direction.

Bububu they aren't speaking they original native Nippon! If I understand their voices I know they are bad instead of not understanding them and saying how much better than the English they are even when someone who speaks both languages would say they are the same level of quality! How can I feel superior!?!?

I suppose, but the English dub sounds fine so far. Lin actually sounds much better in English than Japanese to me which is VERY surprising. Totally expected her English voice to be shit based on the character and Japanese voice.

No British voice actors this time around though :-(

I know. :( Very depressing.

I do speak both and I prefer the Japanese one. Please don't pull that weeaboo shit on me.

I'm not saying anyone else should be the same, please enjoy the English voices, but I am just disappointed because I had the impression that there was going to be dual audio. Missed the news, I guess.

Downloadingggg! Thankfully it looks like it's "only" going to take 4+ hours, so it SHOULD be ready when I wake up

Unless it decides to disconnect

English voices are way better than the Japanese voices this time, except maybe for Elma, who isn't bad though. It a strange complain to have. Especially the one about not buying a Wii U anymore because of that. Why not buying a Japanese one in the first place?

And you know that you get audio requests from your party during the fight, do you?

No British voice actors this time around though :-(

Mmm, there are some, no?

The casting and dialogue has been on point tho (kudos to the Treehouse and 8-4).

In fact after seeing various times the first hours of the game on Japanese and now the english streams I can totally see this game being one of those cases in which the dub is better than the original.

Just like in the original Xenoblade =P

I've been staying out of threads for this for reasons but I have to jump in the OT. I had to pass on other games this year and trade something in to afford this but it'll be worth it. Can not wait!

Will start to play tomorrow tho because even in my lost country they still enforce those releases dates. Why god, why!?

Could be for many reasons. Some people prefer the original vision/language, even if they can't understand it unless through subtitles. Some do understand Japanese and would like to play the game on their American Wii U's. And there are others that just think the english dubbing (or all english dubbing) just sucks.
