Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Chunk 1 (CyberConnect2, UE4) Trailer, "PS4 Console Debut"

I much prefer the remake Cloud. He looks more ardent, rugged and dirty, like an actual, trained soldier who has been through some rough courses, someone whom I'm willing to entrust my life under. The other Cloud just looks like Advent Children Cloud, a bishounen who put on the soldier uniform as cosplay and has beautiful, shiny skin and smooth, clean silky hair.

To be fair, Infantryman Cloud was kinda wimpy and incompetent. And that's before they put him in a lab to sleep for 5 years.

What I like about Cloud in this game is it looks closer to the portrait art from the original game. I feel like all of the other Cloud models has made him have a softer expression. This game's model seems to be trying to give you that same reaction every character gives Cloud when they see him. His eyes.

Totally, and not just his eyes. In that very shot, you see him lift his nose, which gives him an aggressive look. It's great. Cloud is an arrogant prick at the beginning of the game.

Should they make the golden saucer games online and offline? That you can have a skateboard competition or a motorcycle race competition against AI or human players. I think square should look into this, and then make this into a competition online gameplay.

What I loved so goddamn much about FFVII is that it's a very multi-dimensional game that wasn't afraid to challenge the convention. From the cross dressing and the whole wackiness of Honeybee inn, to fitting dogs into sailor outfit, to drinking your goddamn tea! and all the curses, to killing off a major party member permanently many hours into the game, to enemy that chills in bar and being apathetic about the main characters because they're off duty, to various moments where the game suddenly felt like a bloody horror game than a JRPG.

There's never another game that was like FFVII.

Fantastic.

Just freaking fantastic.

This is such a massive change from what I feel I usually get from Square-Enix..... everything I am hearing about FF VII just makes me want this more, I freaking love it.

I giff you all the +1.

And people still criticize FF VII for not being a top Final Fantasy game 18 years later smh. There is so much character and brilliance in tucked into so many of the FF VII areas it's not even funny.

Hell they need to eventually bring back Matsune/Ito/Sakaguchi.... they are the true fathers of these series and could help the current staff with Nomura and Kitase deliver even greater games now and far into the future again, like Final Fantasy was MEANT to.

Bring the boys back, it's time.

This man and/or woman gets it.

I'm pleased beyond words to see that that's being reflected ("not interested") rather than trying to start him off in Compilation form or what-have-you. Cloud's personal journey is unequivocally linked to the greatness of FFVII.

Sooo with this already established as multi-part, what do we think about Advent Children being fleshed out into its own kind of playable epilogue chapter at the end?

Final game DLC, maybe? I'd be down with it. Definitely don't think there's enough story there for a full game though

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I've never played FFVII.

Who is Cloud?
Despite this being sarcasm, your initial post had no reason for being that. The reason why I'm confused is that people have listened and trusted you 'knowing' something that we don't... basically giving hope that the 'episodic' business model will be the best for the game, yet you can't hear Bombing Run being played in the PSX trailer?

No, something is wrong here.

I'm serious, I've never played FFVII.

As for defending the business model they've chosen, well, you don't need to have played VII to be realistic in regards to game development, particularly a project as expensive and ambitious as this one.

Yet, I'm looking at a picture from your Twitter where you've clearly launched the game... I'm even more confused than ever at this point. Sorry for being particularly slow today, studying for the finals makes my brain hurt.

Edit: nevermind, I further looked into it and saw this quote:
'I want my first FFVII experience to be in glorious visuals and bad voice acting.'

Heeeey Yoshi, feeling better today or is there a yoshi-shaped crater in your room ? :p
At first, there was actual physical pain. Today I'm at this point where I'm constantly struggling, mentally, in order to convince myself that things will be fine. I'm literally seeking and absorbing information from people who know what they're talking about so that I can stop thinking about this and start looking forward to the next footage.

It's really been a roller-coaster, and not one of those fun ones.

My biggest concern is what will happen when we finish the 1st part, can we backtrack to previous areas?
Do we have to restart the game after finishing the 1st part if we want to keep playing? More optional stuff, sidequest, maybe include hunt marks ala ff12 or something to keep us busy until the next part comes out.

Is it possible for you to distance yourself from everything for a while? It's obvious you care deeply about this game (I get that; it's my favorite game) and it's worth noting that it'll probably be some time before this multi-release business is cleared up. There isn't really anything we can do right now to get more intel, is there?

I wish Aeris's death hadn't been spoiled by the internet.

I hope Nomura retcons that shit in spite.
He will probably make her die but in a different moment to shake things up. Like Cloud arrived on time to save her, only to be backstabbed by Seph while nobody noticed.

It's literally impossible. Everyone I know in my every day surroundings are in some way talking about this right now :lol I swear, some people don't see how huge this game really is. A perfect example is that two people that I haven't spoken to since 2001 have contacted me again because of this game. It's crazy.

I honestly kinda wish I were experiencing something similar. I live with two ardent PC-only gamers who stopped paying attention to Final Fantasy circa 2007 and even my best friends growing up are merely texting me back with "looks promising..."

And we were all Squareheads to the max. For a very long time.

I think my circle has really stopped caring about Square after this past generation. And I don't really blame them. I did too. But ever since 2013 or so (and especially after this year's megaton announcements) I'm back full-force. I hope things go well and my friends are reignited, heh.
