The Division beta pushed back, Xbox One Alpha test Dec 9-12

after two days of playing i got an idea:

think about the following mechanics that will interlock together like a set of gears.

First I think The Division needs PvE Dungeons where Players meet in free roam at the entrance and have to make groups to finish the dungeon.
At the End of the dungeon, which is maybe a big contaminated building or underground you have to extract for example on top of the building.
but the dungeon and the final extraction is an instance only for your group, so choose your members wisely.
Then we need a PvP Reputation system. Rouge level for killing Agents, and Agent level for killing Rouges for example.
So when you form a dungeon group with unknown people, you either form a fair group of agents and the rouges are left alone, beat the dungeon and extract.
or you form a group with a bunch of rouges where no one trusts anyone and maybe have a big shootout in the end.

i think this would be a massive thing, because many fair players crying over rouges in free roam and would have the chance to beat dungeons in their way.
but we can keep the free roam PvP as it is, because i love the intense extraction moments as a lone walking agent.

with that pvp reputation there may be extra item merchants like a rouge marked or agent dealer.
also would work perfectly together with dungeons and forming a group as described above.

what do you think?

I like the sound of this. A lot! I think raids, dungeons, will definitely be in this for sure. Hitmann has sort of teased them.

Extracted a dozen or so blues from the DZ tonight rolling w/ Jackbooted. Didn't see any griefers really, plenty of groups just trying to get their loot out.

I had been rolling solo, much more fun in a group.

Yeah, got some good blues. I was upset there when I died at the helipad with a full pack of goodies to some higher level NPCs. Thankfully we came back and my bag was still there. :)

You know all the good looting spots. Gotta get on the alpha forums and tell them about the bug I ran in to.

I'm going to honor the NDA and not talk about my experience with the game, so instead I'll talk about what I haven't experienced. My only questions going forward is to the amount of content, the end game structure, and the what boss fights are going to be like. I want so badly for this game to nail the end game. I want unique areas for dungeons/raids, and a decent loot system that takes some time and effort to get the best gear. I also really wonder how they are going to approach boss encounter design since the game is so grounded in reality. Magic and Far future tech makes designing those kinds of encounters much easier, and this game really doesn't have any of that.

Wait... dungeons and raids... has Ubi said anything about either of those? From my hours in the Alpha i cannot see how those would workout with the current game mechanics and gunplay... would be a shit show.

Well, that's frustarting. I pre ordered on Amazon, got the code, but when I go to the beta page, as soon as I get to the point where I log in to uplay, it zooms through the steps to 4/4 and tells me that I've already registered and received a code. Which I haven't. I just started the process. I wasn't even allowed to enter the code from Amazon.

Long shot, I know, but dones anyone have an extra code to enter on Live? Assuming that you can still enter the alpha.

Well my previous level of intrigue seems to have justified, based on these impressions.

Magic and Far future tech makes designing those kinds of [boss] encounters much easier, and this game really doesn't have any of that.

Well there's your classic tanks & helicopters, plus ships could work (if the game's map supports that).

I hope that I wont break any NDA by just saying that this game is just incredible.
Also I am stunned that it looks that good on xbox one, pc version will melt my face.

So the nda is over?! Why is everyone posting all willy nilly?
I remember when I signed an nda there was like a 10000 dollar fine for breaking it

Most people are discussing a stream they saw so they did not sign anything. And others are having conversations about what they hope are in the game and the people watching streams have confirmed or deny. Not saying it isn't bad but I don't see a lot of NDA breaking on GAF.

I love the way they tell the story via holograms . Glad to see its in the alpha. I remember seeing it in one of the previews and the way you move through the particles etc was impressive .

How so? There is a tanking spec, a healer spec, and a threat mechanic so it already has more structure than Destiny. A dungeon or raid is nothing more than a tightly tuned mission with one or more bosses throughout. I see no reason why they couldn't do boss encounters, I just question how unique they can get with them.

I'm still waiting to see some screenshots that actually look like the E3 2013 trailer...

Oops, forgot Ubi's games never actually look like their trailers.
Eh, doesn't look like much more than a higher resolution render with higher resolution textures, both of which will be possible on PC I would imagine.

Honestly, besides the high resolution and better character models/post processing the alpha does look very similar. The density and detail is the same.

Considering its a direct capture from the E3 2013 trailer, how about no. In case you are not familiar with Ubi's marketing practices, it has a well established habit of misrepresenting their games in trailers.

Tell us on the doll where Ubisoft touched you.

Oh isn't that cute, someone who's happy to put up with habitual marketing lies from their favorite corporate overlord. You must certainly hate it when others point out behavior on Ubi's part which clearly warrants scorn on all accounts.

I'm talking enemy variety, location variety, game mechanic variety, weapon's and aim handling, movement fluidity and accessibility to areas of the map among other things... It still feels like a single player Watch Dogs with light MMO and RPG elements. I feel the core movement and gunplay mechanics would have to be altered quite to allow for anything that approaches competitive or uber difficult-reliant-on-teamwork.

Just my opinion after playing the Alpha the last two days. Take that for what it's worth. (pretty much nothing lol)

Whoa... what? Are we playing the same Alpha?! I mean it's by no means a bad looking game... i really love the visuals... but it really is far from the initial Ubi video's and screens.

Does it look as good as initial reveal? No. Do I have resentment and anger about that? No. From the hours i've put into the alpha so far, i've found the game to be very fun and still look pretty damn good.

I don't really care. You can have it out for them all you want, but aside from texture and resolution differences it pretty much looks like that on XB1. Any other differences are pretty minor and very likely part of higher settings on the PC. If you want to compare the Alpha to something then compare it to the XB1 version that they showed at this years E3.

It looks- a lot better than I had figured it would turn out-

edit:they realize that their gamertag is clearly in a lot of the footage right?

wish I had 50K lying around to pay for an NDA breach

it's a massive game first and foremost.......want to know how you can tell? There isn't a tower to climb and activate discovery points......

In Massive we trust.

They haven't let me down yet and they have some fucking insane programmers. World in Conflict was masterful.
