Xenoblade Chronicles X |OT2| Welcome to New L+A a.k.a. Read the Frakkin' Manual!

Aaaaaand everybody's at level 5 affinity. Pretty quick process. Now to reap all those heart to hearts.

Did you just do support missions for a while until everyone was leveled up?

I think I'm just gonna get everyone to 5 before starting any new affinity missions. That way I can just go through all of them one after the other.

I did all the affinity and normal missions available before I really started grinding support missions (some characters I did 1 or 2 missions to get them to 4 hearts). Just doing those missions gets affinity up quite a bit. While grinding affinity I actually forgot Phog who was still sitting at 4. I was kinda annoyed because I coulda added him to my party and leveled him with everybody else. but I did the 3 h2h's I hadn't done for him and it basically got him the last full heart so it's all good.

There are still a few normal missions I can see on the hexes in the world map. I wonder how to trigger those.

oh yeah, I finally remembered the question that I had

What's the fastest way to farm reward tickets?

Go fight the global nemesis (preferably Yggy). Break all the appendages, abandon the mission. Repeat this process till desired number of tickets

So I just grabbed myself a Skell from the level 30 tree that came with a G buster. This game just got really easy. I need to find a way get more income though since I'm basically broke 24/7 just keeping my gear up to date now with how fast I'm levelling.

What about when a nemesis isn't up?

Hope it comes back quick :p

But at that point the only way is squad tasks and missions. So do as many tasks and missions as you can. Especially the missions that are for 100 or more tickets.
Do as many squad tasks as you can but don't miss out on the missions either. Hopefully you won't get in a squad with people that don't do squad tasks but do all the missions while others do the tasks...I really hate when people do that

IIRC the only ways I've seen to get reward tickets is to fight global nemesis (break parts and trade them in for tickets), squad tasks and the subsequent missions, and releasing Scouts you've maxed out. The last one was nerfed and now we only get like 1 or so ticket for every scout.

There's also a reward of 5000 tickets for getting 100% survey rate. lol

I think I'll spend that on Elma's final gear or bunnies

I have been grinding for Arts Gain TP XX all yesterday now have 3

do you guys know what else I need to be and overclock beast "solo"?

I think a few of the achievements are about actually landing the final kill on the nemesis, so good luck with that lol

Trust me, I've suspected that awhile ago and have been tracking nemesis RP. Past few days I've been seeing the Telethia drop fast so it's theoretically possible to pull off lol.

Fighting the global nemesis today was the first time I saw/fought Zero after 220 hours lol.

Man I really hate the Murderess. Her personality sucks.

I liked her. Maybe just because she's a personification of the "be an ass to everybody" option. Also because she was a pretty strong minded character rather than being a sob story.

She's also not Gwin.

She's essentially the person Ayn Rand saw herself as. Still, I found her a little more endearing after her last affinity mission - even if I could have done without her
little 'power of friendship' speech
.

I like Murderess
even if she's not the greatest person she still sticks to her code of ethics which is better than a lot of other people in the game.

I'm in love with this game.

By doing squad tasks. You get them if one task is completed and if you help complete that task.

You can also scout low level players, kill a high level monster, and release them for a squad ticket each.

edit: I just did a heart to heart with Frye and the dialogue options were basically, "You should drink" and "I guess you should drink" lol.

Is the Chapter 9 boss supposed to be this impossible? I'm already 7 levels above it now, have the best gear as far as I can afford and have been spending all leveling points. What else can I do but level even further? This is actually getting pretty annoying at this point.

I just lowered the difficulty lol. Somebody earlier said that using team commands helps in that fight.

Even with the lowered difficulty I still can't get anywhere. It's really odd since I'm easily killing rare enemies almost 10 levels higher but even with all lv 35 gear on the MC and all 25 on Lin and Elma I can't even finish off the adds before I'm wiped. It feels like balance just got really weird since my skells can hack through a lv 41 tyrant but ground troops can't handle a level 28 mob even with good gear.

You need to set Lin up for tanking and throw on AOE arts for everyone else. The sheer amount of enemies are going to keep getting you unless you finish the small fry off quickly.

It's possible that your gear could just be horribly weak to the weapon types the boss is using. Try mixing things up.

Could be this too, but I'd still put money on it being the sheer number of enemies.

Seems this is where the issue lays. I've not really specialized anyone outside of my MC dealing extremely heavy damage. I swapped a few red abilities for Lin that have no real status advantage over to the blue and green buffs without any points to level them and already cleared the mob that time. Could have been a win perhaps had I not got the revive button mixed up.

Finished up the main story this afternoon. Overall I found that main scenario to be pretty weak - wish more effort could have been put into the NPC quests that delve into issues that come with having different species living in NLA and other day-to-day problems in the city. I much prefer the world building that X does over the nonsense that happens in the main chapters with characters like Tatsu and
Lao
.

Adding Mechs to combat is great and all but I greatly prefered the "quirks" of the original Xenoblade's combat system over what is in X. Seeing the future and be given a small window to fix it clicked with me significantly more than Soul Voice and was sorely missed.

Not to say I disliked Xenoblade X, wouldn't have spent 50 hours in it otherwise, but I'm ultimately a little disappointed in it.

Yea, that fight is entirely about making sure your allies are set up correctly. It's just there to make sure you know how to do it since there are way worse fights going forward.

Man, I remember someone saying that heart to hearts aren't as big a part of X compared to the original because of Affinity missions, but there's 5 per character and like 20+ more than the original had.

Personally the thing I miss is chain attacks. Getting to control everyone in the party if only for a moment was pretty cool. That said I do like the powerful feeling of having Overdrive fast forward all my arts as well as chaining overdrives.

There's also probably a bunch of stuff you haven't seen with those NPC quests in 50 hours.

Chain attacks were great and I kind of wish there were more reliable ways to heal than Soul Voices, but I definitely think ground combat in X is a huge improvement on XCX.

That being said, I wish Skell combat was a more dynamic.

Finished up chapter 11. The story is clearly nothing special but I'm honestly still enjoying it aside from some complaints I'll probably address in the post chapter 12 write up. Final chapters gonna have to pull some crazy ass bullshit for me to actively go to disliking it.
So Laos was piloting this Ares 60 I've heard so much about here? Looks dope.

Completely forgot about chain attacks. I remembered there being something in that original game that made things easier for me to exploit topple and the like but forgot about the actual mechanic. Setting up SV conditions wasn't nearly as good.

I don't doubt it. Just an optional(?) race like the
Orpheans
brought in a bundle of quests. Going off that I'm sure, from looking at my list of manufactures, there are still a decent amount of quest I haven't even surfaced yet. I'm sure I'll get back to the game at some point but for the moment I need a bit of a breather from X.

I paid good money for this Dynex!
I'm about 20 hours into the game now, and man... it's not what I expected from a Xenoblade sequel, but I'm still loving it. If I do have a problem, though, it's that it's extremely relaxing. Too relaxing. Crashing on the sofa at night and playing for any amount of time makes me want to go to sleep.

Are there anymore unique weapons other than Mighty Glaive: Galaxy Chief and the Unbreakable Sword?

I got a unique sword with some sort of name "Unlimited Series: *something*" from a Tyrant, but I never looked at it as I don't use longswords.

It looks like you actually are limited to Primordia before you reach NLA.

I got another one from a late game normal mission (one of my favorites):
Legendary Nopopopopon

I think I missed out on Unbreakable Sword due to a dialogue option choice, but I likely wouldn't use it anyways..

There's also the one you get from tyrant
Lugalbanda the Wanderer King, Receding Rust.

edit: 227 hours in and still discovering random shit in NLA. Can't get over it.

Get the fuck out, calling Mia such a vulgar word is a sin.

I take it back, but her quest "cost" seemed unfair :p I'm guessing she becomes a party member option?

So I'm around lv. 34 and am not sure what skells my team should be rocking. I haven't even touched augments/crafting stuff at the AM kiosk (although I have upgraded stuff). I have tons of weapons on my first skell (the free one), and I think a mix of the medium/light frames for my party members.

What do you guys suggest? I spent a shitton of money on the weapons I put on my lv.20 skell. so dunno where to even go from here.

Personally I just bought a Verus and an Urban then gave the freebie to Lin, others went to my MC and Elma. I recently added another Verus though since the freebie is honestly pretty useless compared ot the buyable skells. Not to mention two G busters make short work of enemies well beyond my reach usually.

Honestly though I wouldn't worry too much since the lv 30 skells will easily get you to lv 40 in no time so you're going to want to buy a whole new set pretty fast.

I'm falling into a vicious cycle of never finishing the game because there keeps being a mission or recon stuff I want to do. The addition of doing one more segment recon sweep through continents is too great. Also trying to figure out what rocky shore in Cauldros my "Off the Record" mission is referring to. I keep visiting various shores but don't find anything. Am wondering if maybe it's on another continent that has a certain firey place in it. I am determined to figure this out without a guide.

(But I'll probably give up and look it up.)

I'm amazed at how quickly party members can catch up in levels. I was around Level 45 when I decided to run the rest of the game with Phog. And now I'm Level 52 and he caught all the way up to 48. That scaling EXP sure helps, no?

Also recently killed
Bates and Corwin
. I think the former can probably be saved, not sure about the latter. One of those situations where I was scrolling through the text really quickly and when I got to the decision, I didn't have enough info to make an informed decision and guessed wrong.

Both of the heavy Skells are good solid damage outputters/sponges but I really enjoyed piloting the Inferno model in the 30s. It handles a little better as a medium Skell, is a little cheaper to buy, and has double TP. Although looking back on it, I dunno how much I really used all that extra TP space, but it was nice to have.

Anybody know where exactly Yelv's 4th h2h is? Online guide ain't helping me.

I really like Alexa now after doing her h2hs. She is the superior skell lover.

Thanks! I'll not think about it too much, then. Just gonna gear 'em up. I'm headed into Chapter 10 now.

One more question, ch.9 spoilers,
does Lao become unrecruitable after the cutscene where you suspect him to be a traitor?
Can't find him in his usual spot.

Heavy. At least 2 heavies. Level 20 skell is sellbait almost instantly. (Especially now you are over 30, meaning Elma and Lin might be 30 as well).
But also get whatever you want.
My favorite handling skell was actually the first heavy (as in 2nd most expensive) it looks stupid basically turning into a 4 legged spider but it's my fav.

And Yes to your spoiler question.

Thanks for all the help. Here I go into chapter 10. And yet another stupid Tatsu dinner joke.

What is it with Japan and not finishing games? The game clearly wasn't done, or they were making something else and had to scrap it halfway through to make something else once they realized the Wii U wasn't selling like hotcakes.

Man, that's just terrible. Flashbacks of MGSV right now.
