New trailer for The Division (3 minutes)

It concerns me that they're being so vague about what the single player components will entail. What exactly is there for those of us who don't want to play with others??

They do say you can play solo but you'll have to go "multitasking" in your skills

“For example: I could specialize in a more long-range approach and you could be more up close [if playing together]. You’d have to be a little more multitasking if you were alone, or just try what works. That’s what’s interesting about the beta – people are going to find all sorts of ways that work for them.”

I'm just worried that dark zones seem to be the devs answer for end game content.

Without Raids or elaborate "dungeons", I'm afraid it'll get boring quickly.
I'm still trying to figure out if dark zones and quarantine zones are the same. Quarantine zones seem to be gated by the level of gas mask/filter you have so that seems to be a regulated harder area.

Now we have several alpha players here, can I have a confirmation regarding endgame pve and pvp?
Is the dark zone the only choice we have for endgame? Isn't there any other pve missions for endgame loot?

No Idea, The Alpha was very limited in how far you could expand/what you could unlock. I see to remember some dev talk of end game being both (great, as not particularly interested in PvP), but then I also remember a phrase along the lines of "The Darkzone is where to find the best gear". I don't think its been made fully clear yet.

I can't imagine Destiny's success despite its many flaws has gone unnoticed and I'll be disappointed if they don't take on board that there is an audience there for some complex PvE content in these always online co-op games rather than the typical PvP.

I see.
Yeah, it's just an alpha so that makes sense. Perhaps we'll see more info from the beta players later. Or even better, a clear confirmation from Ubi themselves.

Pre-ordered through Amazon, got the code, applied it to my UPlay account, then cancelled the order. Yay. I do want to play this before I think of spending money on it :).

Oh nice, did not receive the email with the beta code from Amazon. I contacted the customer support and they sent the code. The Division site says the code is invalid.
Does anyone had a problem like this?

You can play the whole thing in solo, including the PVP zone, it's just harder because you can't revive yourself/have a wide range of skills/etc...

They are not the same yeah. Like you said quarantine zones were zones in the PVE world where you indeed needed gasmasks te enter.

Reading the wccftech article, the Dark Zone itself is a quarantine zone with sick people, lawless people etc. It is "is one very large walled off area in midtown Manhattan that you seamlessly enter from the open world,” says Rundqvist. “It’s a dangerous and lawless place. The enemies and missions here encourage players to team up in order to up their chances of survival.”"

Sorry i ment Contaminated zone. Thats in the PVE world where you need gasmasks. In the alpha you just needed a small gasmasks. I guess for the later parts you need a bigger one with a larger filters ( see my avatar) I think those things are gonna be like dungeons people are asking about.

Like you see here. At the left top and that red part on the radar is the Contaminated zone.

Edit: Came across a vid from Arrekz about it.

Can I play this offline or I have to be online everytime?

You need to be online. But it doesnt require PS+ or Xbox Live. But if you gonna go into the darkzone or use matchmaking then you need it offcourse.

If you pre-ordered from amazon.com, their terms say that it's an offer valid only for U.S. residents.

if i preorder this through psn will i get a beta code?

According to the description on the PSN you shall receive a code but some have presumed that you may only receive it a week before the beta launches. I'm going to pop the question to the EU psn facebook page and see what their response is.

I preorderd the Gold for Steam. Why must I need to have every game on Steam...Could get it cheaper somewhere else. Anyway, in your games library, there's a listing for the The Division and The Division Beta.

reading the forums it seems the beta is already put in your library.

Thanks! :D

And knitoe, You could have bought ti through uplay... you have a 20% discount voucher code in the upoints shop for 100 points you can use towards the division.

I preordered from the US store yesterday, and did not receive a code.
I presume it will either be sent at a later date, or maybe an app will be available to download when the beta arrives (like for Uncharted last month).

Got my beta key, redeemed then cancelled the pre order. Hopefully this works as intended!

Someone asked about sniping?

FeistyWellinformedJunebug.gif
Oh hell yes! I just hope I cap remove the scope from it because I do enjoy scope less sniper rifles from time to time.

Well, he fires 2 shots, one with no scope and one with a scope so i think you're good. But removing the scope would be unwise as scopes will have modifiers to them such as +crit etc.

I have very good news for you :)

Yes, but there were red dot scopes with modifiers from what I remember as well. He should be alright at finding a scope that gives good buffs without having the option to accidentally hard-scope in on someone.

Oh that's right this isn't like Borderlands were a gun has a general Stat but each individual part/Mod has a stat of their own.

That's good to hear.

Speaking of stats how does Armor work in this game? Based on the game setting I imagine we can equip a chest Piece,a legs/bottom piece and headgear for stats but does it go further than that? Like shoes or gloves with their own stats or maybe different backpacks with different purposes? I'm imagining a Backpack that lets you hold more Loot, one backpack that allows you to hold more ammo, one backpack that increases your grenade count or gadgets to use etc.

Does anyone know whether the physical versions activate on uPlay or Steam? I want to pre-order the game through Best Buy for the GCU rewards but want to ensure I'm playing on Steam if possible.

Head, chest, legs, mask, backpack, gloves from what I can remember have stats
They have points to your trees too

They talk about loot and stuff in this podcast. Pretty interesting: https://soundcloud.com/thedivisiongame/the-division-podcast-episode-7-sweet-sweet-loot

From what i gather all modpieces will have stats to them so lets say you have a scope , a ammo-clip and a silencer on your rifle.

That would give you like +1 crit from scope, + ammo from clip and + something else from the silencer. There might be "legendary" scopes etc. where you have more statsslots per mod. But how it actually works i don't know as the leaked alpha hasn't been detailed yet on the customization of the guns.

The best thing in that podcast is the talk about "Vanityslot" where you don't have any stats whatsoever but it defines how your char looks. So no more uglyass highend armor that makes you look like a douche, it's all based of your "vanity-slot"

guns still do have base stats....just that mods take them even further. Also almost every gun can be disassembled for there mods or easily removed right in the field. So you picked up a crappy gun that has a mod with a better modifier then your current one? Remove it and equip it if its compatible. Certain guns also do not allow mods or the ability to remove them.

You have like 5-6 pieces that actually define your stats and minorly alter your appearance, but your look is a huge on how YOU actually want to look/vanity gear. Also Vanity gear at least in the alpha was shared across characters so once you found a cool piece of cosmetic looking gear you could use it on any created character immediately.

Jup in alpha there was also a appearance menu where you could switch, jackets, hats, holsters i believe, pants. Those didnt affect any stats, only your look. Wich was quite nice.

If I pre-order the PS4 version, do I only get access to the PS4 beta, or can I use the key to access the PC beta?

Not sure if it's old news (nor should it be a surprise) but the game will have "optional in-game purchases". Maybe it's just going to be for your appearance.

probably.....the system is setup to be akin to guild wars 2. Cosmetic pieces can easily be added without worrying about stats or your real gear.....it was definitely thought out compared to destiny.......Destiny 2 though will probably have the same system.

It's so they can deliver content updates (hopefully) instead of us paying a monthly sub.

I'm excited to see how close the final game compares to this, I don't think the game got as downgraded as people make it out to have been.

I've watched alpha footage. Of course it's not that good looking...but it ain't ugly either. I think it looks pretty good for how big and seamless it is.
