The Division - 15 minutes of new gameplay

How can this company get away with this bullshit? Downgraded graphics, terrible hit detection and super powered opponents that can take about 30 shots (hits) with a heavy machine gun and a grenade... and still not die.

Youtube... I know.

Almost 30 shots (hits) with a heavy machine gun and a grenade... and he's still not dead. And when the bullets hits he's not reacting at all. He's just standing there taking bullet after bullet while changing the mag.

I have canceled my pre-order. I will buy it because it looks fun but not for full price. I will wait a couple of months after the release when it hits the bargain bins for <€15.

I hope to God nobody purchases this game! Ubisoft needs to be put of business for their shady way of doing things! And for anyone thinking that PC ver. will be anything like that 2013 showing better think again! It's "WATCH DOGS" all over again!!!

I hate it that they can do this to us PC/Console gamers and away with this BS!

The shooting at 1:00 to 1:03 made my heart sink.

That's a 20th level player unloading into a 20th level enemy, and its all just a bunch of numbers popping up. No solid effects on target, no flinching, no AI response. The enemy doesn't drop, and in fact only lost near half of his health bar.

This is exactly what I was worried about, and something that just doesn't fit with the Tom Clancy license.

Because he is a purple enemy wich are like litte bosses or higher tier enemies. Like yellow bars with shields in Destiny.

Game looks like fun! Just watched the JackFrags video. He was super informative about the game and even mentioned that he played mostly on the Xbox version and mentioned some framerate issues. Said he played the PC version but can't talk about it, and didn't play the PS4 version.

Hope we'll hear some PC impressions soon.

Also, what the hell is up with people complaining about crap like the door closing animations? Or comparing the visuals from YouTube videos of the Xbox version with earlier footage? We're still doing this?

my hard graphic balls
Why don't you wait for like-to-like weather and time of day comparisons, with direct feed footage, Super Wario?
Why must you do the conparison now with incomplete data?

lol at the downgrade outrage.

Anyone thinking the 2013 reveal would run on an Xbox One or PS4 was kidding themselves.

If this was a situation where they were still showing that 2013 footage and then released a game looking like that everyone would be justified in their outrage.

Just look at the game as it looks now as if the 2013 footage doesn't exist. The graphics are serviceable and the game looks more fun than Destiny (imo, to me), especially if they get the dark zone even half right. Who cares about the graphics? The order sucked balls (I still kept it just for the eye candy).

The bit at 1:13 is even worse, no hit reactions in a shooter released in 2016, how pathetic is that?

And those yellow bars are the worst part of Destiny's combat. They are literally the sponge that soaks up your bullets for days on end. There is no strategy to them besides just laying down more fire.

This looks made for RPG fans, not Tom Clancy fans.

Sometimes the key to bosses is literally just spraying them with damage until they fall down

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like

Ever play Borderlands? The Division is 1/2 RPG so if one is not killing things "fast" it's simply because their current Stats/Weapon stats doesn't allow them to cheese through the encounter.

This isn't a classic Tom Clancy title.

Has it ever been explained how loot drops? If a purple item drops, can only I see it? Or do I have to compete with my teammates to see who gets it?

When you are grouped I think I saw a Need/Greed/Pass system in one of the videos so it's like pretty much any MMO.

I think because it's humans shooting humans, I'm less inclined to cut it slack when it comes to enemies being bullet sponges and such.

That and parts of it are just sloppy. Being in a building where there might be well-armed people with bad intentions behind every door...and one guy just stands in front of the door and opens it.

I know it seems like nitpicking but it really cuts into the immersion for me.

The game looks a bit sloppy when it comes to mechanics and mood.

I have a feeling if the enemies were Aliens, Monsters or Zombies then no one would be bitching about bullet sponges. I get it, it makes sense...why should it take so much to kill a human? Well maybe they should have designed the game with different enemies in mind but how else are you gonna make an RPG like this? Can't have COD like insta death one shot in an RPG.

After the Watch Dogs fiasco they did it again! Downgradedaton Ubi!!! Unbelievable this company should be sued for fake advertising

It's not false advertising. You didn't purchase the game in 2013 and get delivered what we see in the alpha/press footage.

The video in the OP has some awful tearing and better not make it into the final release. My other real complaint is the AI seems brain dead and the shooting looks bland. I could care less about the downgrade because I always knew that would be PC footage.

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
Messy overdone Ubi UI - check
Screen tearing and boring environments - check

I think I'll pass.

Its a Tom Clancy game where guns don't provide anywhere near the feedback or effects that they'd have on human targets. Once you throw out real world weapons you throw out real world tactics and AI behaviors and this becomes a sci-fi gear-check wearing a Tom Clancy skin.

Its akin to remove the tombs from Tomb Raider. At least for me. My biggest draws to the Tom Clancy line are completely absent here.

I agree with you. It would be hard to do otherwise...but I just watched a guy run at the player with a baseball bat, eat ten rounds and still club the player across the head.

I'm just not fond of their blend of realism and not-realistic for the sake of story and gameplay.

There's some interesting bits to this game but...yeah...I'm not feeling it as much as I hoped I would.

They should have just called it something else. I agree the Tom Clancy name seems out of place on an RPG.

I feel like he was being sarcastic given the !!!!

Apologies if so, my sarcasm detector is a bit off this week.

I don't follow jackfrags that closely but he did say the PC version is his version of choice, so I'm sure it's good/better?

Blech, the RPG bullet-sponge enemies are at odds with the realistic characters, weapons, and setting. The initial announcement footage made the gameplay look closer to a shooter than a battle between Excel damage and armor tables where some generic T-shirt wearing thug can take a dozen shots to the chest from an AR only to run off and take cover.

Stuff like Borderlands and Destiny are so over the top, unreal and wacky that the spongy enemies don't feel so out of place.

The lighting and individual models look basically the same as the initial footage, but they're obviously not packing the environments with as much debris and clutter - probably partly due to performance and also due to how long that stuff takes to properly place in a convincing way during development.

If enemies reacted to bullets in an rpg game it would just be them convulsing until they are finally dead. Just rotate your firing between party members and the boss will just stand there and level 1 guns would just be as good as end game guns.

I like the idea, I want a min/max game that is not around swords and fireballs and who can find the most bulky shoulder pads in existent.....hunter tier 1 missile silos.

Of course its a Ubi game with the UI taking 90% of the screen.

Can't spell UBI without UI.

User's big-ass Interface!

Honestly I was suprised by how much I liked Destiny when I got it for €30 in Dec on PSN, but I've kinda burned out on it now and that's with the full game. I dread to think how fast I'd have lost interest in the vanilla version at launch.

I wanna give the Division the benefit of the doubt because of how much I love the idea of it, but I'm afraid I'd only regret it if I jump right in at launch for full price :/

I like how, there are a bunch of positive impressions being ignored, including positive impressions and how the shooting is better than it was before, as well as how these videos are not representative of the visuals. Why it has to be reiterated multiple times that this is an RPG first and foremost is beyond me, nit's not going for ultra-realism, they're not twirling their mustaches saying
"Yes, those fools will be thinking that they're buying a super realistic game, a triple A DayZ, that's totes how we advertised it, we made no mention of the RPG mechanics muhahahaha."
Not to mention you're comparing different areas of the map as well as different platforms altogether. Here's another area of the game on xb1 with a much more detailed area during the daytime from the leaked alpha video in the other thread.:

The gunplay actually reminds me of Defiance, but with cover. Which is kind of disappointing, actually.

But then again, it's hard to see how you'd do an MMO shooter otherwise.

Because the Tom Clancy name and the realistic weapons and third person cover based gameplay comes with its own set of natural expectations.

Again, this is akin to removing the tombs from the new Tomb Raider. It removes the gameplay heart of the series. Its not even about ultra-realism, there's no realism to the gameplay here at all, which means the setting and license are just a backdrop.
