So, I'm really enjoying my current avatar, but I'd like it if someone could enlarge it a bit without it looking terrible (I tried myself and it came out really bad). It'd be cool if it was still transparent, too.

Is there a way to prevent image quality drop when you set a new avatar? I notice a drop for those that are drawings, but none for photos. My files are still below 50kb so I'm not sure why that's happening. Is there something I have to mess around with in GIMP?
