The spindle was the best way we ever had to get an exotic in this game. Something hidden (kinda) that the community discovers, is challenging and the reward is worth it. If we had 5 exotics that worked the way spindle did it would have been awesome.

And if you don't have the opportunity to play that day, then you have to wait another 3-ish weeks. What happens if the next time it comes up, you also don't have the opportunity to play that day? You just keep waiting until Bungie decides that the Spindle mission is on a day that you can play.

Yep. Supercrappy.

On a semi-related note, for those asking for 2XP weekends or whatever, this is the Diablo team's thoughts on those:

Wyatt Cheng / Senior Technical Game Designer
Hey guys – just wanted to pop in and say that we don’t have any community buffs planned for this season.
The main reason is the one highlighted by other members of the community - while 2x buffs are super exciting while they’re active, they have negative effects at other times. The biggest is how demoralizing it can feel if you miss out on the community buff. One of the strengths of Diablo is when players feel they can play on their own schedule, when they feel like it. The 2x buffs really detract from a sense that any time is a perfectly good time to play. It can also cause people to burn themselves out trying to get the most out of the buff.

So smart.

How many of us ground ourselves silly on SRL for 320 items?

edit: Also, I love that the D3 design team is who engages with community. Not their CMs.

Am I the only one who finds Pantheon enjoyable in Trials? Once you get in the groove its ok.

That is, back when Thorn was viable. So last year I guess. Fuck the sniper meta. Took away the only counter to it

Eh. There's still some Exotics in TTK that are bullshit, like the Spindle or the one where you have to go through the Vault on the Daily.

Yeah, but at least when they come around you KNOW what you are trying to get.

My only point being is that some folks actually have to set aside time to play video games and plan things 3 nightfalls and 6 raids will take up A TON of time AND it must be done every week for a chance of something good.

At least with the system the way it is now, you can log on and move the ball whenever you have time. Strangely, player time is more respected in TTK than it was during Vanilla. (Except for raid drops with the double RNG...but that's a bit different...Im talking about exotics).

Ah yes. Thats the stupid part of it. After Bungie unlocked it for the first time the spindle should have been able to get that same way on heroic difficulty of that mission.

At least this isn't the week Doctrine is dropping at 7! Think that's next week. Hope it's a tolerable map so GAF can help me get counterbalance.

What it's like playing Trials with you on your Vita:

Seriously, look at the weapon perks added with Taken King and tell me you've ever been excited to get one of these on a weapon.

UNDERDOG
This weapon gains a boost to range and handling when health is low.

god tier on my party crasher honestly

if you get in close and your taking damage---which is honestly pretty often, your next shot is going to sight in and fire a longer range slug

Still have the screen grab.

The wonderful memories of old. TTK was great at start, but Bungie ripped away the soul of hunting for something magnificent.

I got about as excited as I'll ever get getting loot in a game( which to you all probably doesn't sound too excited). Was more a relief that I got to enjoy its power before the inevitable nerf. Of course that weekend I had another drop playing a match of control. I think it was the best when TJ got his, think he may have woke up his kids.

Aren't you all just as excited for me to get an underdog/gorilla fighter 1kys?!?

TJ just disappeared lol.

So assuming things come together, we're planning to do a NM Kings Fall raid for anyone interested. Right now there's two newbies and one veteran (me). We hoping to run this Saturday night (maybe 9EST), so we have the time needed to run through explanations and all that. Anyone else interested? Ideally I'd like to get another vet or two who could help balance things out, but whatever. SpecX, if you're no longer free, let me know and I will change this accordingly.

Thanks Shiv, I'm still in. Trying to talk my RL buddies to join up as well, but they hardly touch Destiny now and might not be interested. Anyone else willing to join us?

Pantheon is actually a decent Trials map. It just got a bad reputation because it was the second week and nobody knew how to play the game mode yet (and therefore the map). It's got options: outside heavy lane, mid/lobby, waterfall, inside heavy lane. I liked it a lot better once I realized you could rush through mid and be completely protected by cover. You don't have to sit around hard scoping the sniper lanes, although it does lend itself to that.

I'll be around to post the new OT when the time comes, fyi.

Dgaf is going mad one by one.

Looking at ruthless post history i dont see what did him in.

Maybe he self-banned? Like ocean periodically does?

Maybe I should self-ban? Save y'all from repeating my rants I've delivered 100x and save your bandwidth from posting so many gifs.

Goodnight, DGAF.

I don't hardly post on weekends anyway.

only thing I can think of is when he was saying that people don't get the Rift game mode when they complain about how they lost a match. but that was so innocuous....

I dunno.

I agree. It's horrible when playing 6v6 on lopsided teams because one team can just pin the other in their spawn, but it works a lot better in trials (or any 3v3 mode). It's symmetrical so there's no spawn advantage and like you said, plenty of cover for flanks.

DJ pls. What'd you do now. With you and ocean down who is going to give all the helpful answers for newbies....

Maybe he self-banned? Like ocean periodically does?

Twilight used to self-ban sometimes but I dunno if ocean does. Afaik his bans haven't been "requested" (including this current one), he's just good at it :p

Pantheon is good stuff. The fact it's such an obvious sniper map leaves some nice flanking routes wide open for shotgunners.

Never played Trials on it so looking forward to getting some cards in.

We can keep hitting the thread tonight and tomorrow; more people will hopefully be checking this later today and tomorrow. Iron Lagger may annoy enough people that they want to do something else tomorrow night?

Can you put my friend and I as a back ups? We're attempting a hard carry for him today, if it fails this would be the next best thing.
