Did Emily Rogers just hint at Mother 3's NA Release?

Earthbound NX Prequel

What if, this whole time, NX was the code name for Mother 3's localization? There is no new console or handheld coming. It was M3 all along!

"Rockstar is working on something for Project Cafe. It will most likely not be revealed at E3 because Rockstar normally doesn’t reveal stuff at E3."

heh

To be fair, Liam Robertson (Unseen64) reported something similar in March 2015.

Rumor has it that Grand Theft Auto V was once prototyped for Wii U. That comes from Unseen64’s Liam Robertson, who tends to be in the know when it comes to cancelled projects and development secrets.

Robertson was in touch with “a reliable source”, who claims that the prototype “was an earlier version of GTA V.” It was apparently a brief period when this took place. Sadly, further details are unknown

Would love to hear if the rhythm thing works properly in the Japanese Wii U release. The game's playable without it so I could see it getting released either way.

Hope is fear.

Unless he rebuilds it on a tool other than GameMaker or GameMaker adds an export module to one of Nintendo's platforms, it won't happen.

Well that's for Nintendo to resolve. The game's big enough to justify it at this point.

Plus there's always the NX, who knows if GameMaker will remain unsupported on that.

That said I'm happy playing it on PC. And I'm sure Toby's happy enough with his success on PC too. I just think Nintendo's got the audience for that game. They should pursue it.

The possibility of Mother 3 being released on the Wii U Virtual Console is as much of a possibility as saying that there's going to be a North American Wii U VC release of Super Mario RPG because of its 20th anniversary. Both Mother 3 and Super Mario RPG have been released on the Wii U Virtual Console in Japan and have anniversaries. Both have been featured in the latest Smash to some degree (Lucas and Geno Mii costume).

SquareEnix finally stopped being dumb about the NA VC, given FFTA just went up last week. Mario RPG isn't that outlandish anymore.

Of course, neither is Mother 3 now :p

Just releasing this digitally with little fanfare would be such a disappointment.

I think this would make the most sense:

-Mother 3 Digital Release, $20
-Mother Trilogy Collectors Edition Limited Physical Release, $60, includes all three games with artbook and soundtrack

Milk those Mother fanboys for everything they're worth. They'll pay up. I know I would.

SMRPG was never outlandish to begin with, seeing as it released on the Wii VC years ago. It was just a matter of Squenix getting their heads out of their asses.

As far as I know, Tomato owns exclusive rights to that translation. It really can be that simple. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo does as you say and has treehouse translate it, but it's because Nintendo doesn't seem big on external resources like that, not because of financial or legal reasons.
Mother 3's script is copyrighted material. He doesn't own anything relating to it.

I don't think there's as many of you as you think

If it happens, it's gonna be a $10-20 VC release like Earthbound was. They're not gonna do a physical collectors edition for a 10 year old game boy game that they didn't ever want to release here in the first place.

Games Nintendo released as a publisher in 2006 (some random comments in Italics...sorry):
Baten Kaitos Origins (Japan and North America only)
Chibi-Robo! You know as much I enjoy Mother 3 I think if we're going to give Chibi Robo a send-off I think releasing the game that started it is the way to go...btw this is on the list because it came in Europe then. I regret thinking Odama would become rare and buying that instead
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess I hear it is in HD now
Odama
Wii Sports
Excite Truck
Electroplankton
True Swing Golf
Super Princess Peach
Pokémon Trozei!
Metroid Prime Hunters Well Federation Force...
Tetris DS I'd love to see Nintendo wrestle this license out of the hands of Ubisoft and then somehow convince SEGA to release Puyo Puyo Tetris in the west
Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day! Could Europe finally get Devilish Brain Training?
New Super Mario Bros. Now if it turns out to be this I think there isn't enough salt. I mean we just had Mario 30th anniversary...
Magnetica aka actionloop aka puzz loop but you probably know it better as Zuma (which is an imitation product that apparently Popcap condescendingly said to michell was an elaboration, jokes on you Popcap, you're now owned by EA...)
Big Brain Academy
Sudoku Gridmaster
Tenchu: Dark Secret (Published by Nintendo in North America and Australia only)
Star Fox Command
Mario Hoops 3-on-3
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis Well there is that "buy amiibo you already own for a download code Mario vs. DK game you won't be able to complete without all the Mario amiibo and Diddy Kong" in Japan
Clubhouse Games
Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends
Magical Starsign Also a Brownie Brown game
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Pokémon Ranger
Children of Mana
Elite Beat Agents
Yoshi's Island DS
Kirby: Squeak Squad
Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland (Japan and Europe only) Is America finaly ready?
English Training: Have Fun Improving Your Skills! (Japan and Europe only)
Eyeshield 21: MAX Devil Power (Japan only)
Densetsu no Stafy 4 (Japan only)
Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten DS (Japan only)
Tabi no Yubisashi Kaiwachou DS (Japan only)
Mawashite Tsunageru Touch Panic (Japan only)
Project Hacker: Kakusei (Japan only)
Chōsōjū Mecha MG (Japan only)
Yakuman DS with Wi-Fi Support (Japan only) ...with Wi-Fi Support...come to think of it the DS had a few games like this...reminds me of the rumble support versions of Mario 64 and a few other games that came out in Japan
Common Sense Training (Japan only) Some would argue that Nintendo themselves need to play this :p
Jump Ultimate Stars (Japan only)
Kenkou Ouen Recipe 1000: DS Kondate Zenshuu (Japan only) a version of this was released as cooking guide: can't decide what to eat?
Touch Hyakunin Isshu: DS Shigureden (Japan only)
Drill Dozer The unreleased European version finally came out
Final Fantasy V Advance (Published by Nintendo outside Japan)
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team
Tales of Phantasia (Published by Nintendo outside Japan) Ragnarok > Kangaroo is still the most amusing translation error (caused by an auto spellcheck and not adding Ragnarok to cusrtom.dic)
The Tower SP (Published by Nintendo in Japan only)
Polarium Advance (Published by Nintendo outside of North America) is an Atlus USA game in North America.
Eyeshield 21: Devilbats Devildays (Japan only)
Mother 3 (Japan only)
Calciobit (Japan only) aka Nintendo Pocket Football Club
Bit Generations: (Japan only) aka Art Style
Rhythm Tengoku (Japan only)

It could by any of those. Don't get hyped.
Though looking at the list there are few candidates you can make any plausible case for

Does Zelda TP HD count already. Maybe we're being played :(

Nintendo seemingly didn't go out of their way for Minecraft, why would they bother for Undertale?

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Shortly after the Paper Mario thing, a bunch of Nintendo people started following me on twitter. There was a sudden moment of "Well, shit."

You were a reasonable man, Alberto. We will never forget you.
Now, what are these strange noises coming from my room's wind-

Not going to lie, wouldn't mind these either.

I know it's not confirmed, but what a great surprise that would have made at the end of a Nintendo Direct. It would have rocked the Internet...

Just because you know something doesn't mean you have to share it. Nintendo probably isn't happy with Emily after the Paper Mario Wii U leak and now this, and I can't say I blame them. I'm a bit disappointed as a fan. I like surprises.

Except NX. Leak that shit to me now.

I think Mato made a mistake by not localizing Hinawa's name as Amber. That's the sort of thing that wouldn't happen in a Treehouse-translated release.

So I'd hope NOA fixes that if they use his translation.

I do prefer Amber over Hinawa, I agree. Japanese names don't really fit EarthBound. But can't you rename her? I wouldn't call it a mistake considering Mato used what's used in Brawl.

Nintendo seemingly didn't go out of their way for Minecraft, why would they bother for Undertale?

I don't know, didn't they? I know they were asked about it a long time ago (in an investor's Q&A I believe?). Either way it did end up releasing on Wii U so who knows if they had anything to do with that. Hard to say with Minecraft.

Hmmm, I wonder if they're using the fan translation or doing it themselves.

And considering how dark this game is, will they censor or make changes? Hope not.
