Diablo III: Reaper of Souls |OT3| Tyrael Looted: {[El'druin]}

Kilrogg

paid requisite penance
So yeah, either I got really damn lucky, or game just bugged out a bit on my 1st attempt at GR 70 on Invoker Crusader. Got this clear time:

Really need to upgrade my gear if I want to get over GR 70. Or switch to bombing with LoN.

I don't see myself on that list, how odd... NOT.

[EDIT] Damn it this didn't deserve to be at the top.

Finally completed the season journey far enough to unlock the stash tab.

I changed up some of the gear I was using on my DH. Ended up using boots that gave stacking life/sec while standing still so I could spam MS more and not worry about enemy damage so much. It was really close most of the time, but I eventually found a Conduit Plyon and after that I was off to the races. Finished with over a min left. I think I got a bit lucky with high density and killable mobs. Happy to have it done though.

I'll play sporadically on my alt Crusader, but I think I'm mostly done with D3 for now (until the next season anyhow, hehe).

I have only the set dungeon left on the season journey! so before I attempt this, how many of the objectives do I need to do? Do I need to master it also?

Need to master one, so all the objectives.

For kicks I watched kripps HC kill of pre nerf inferno Diablo, man such a different game now lol. Makes me wanna do hardcore again but after my last death due to a crash im hesitant.

Just don't do speed high grifts. And use the cheat death passive for god's sake.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Internet has been acting up and some other issues have popped up. Kind of taken the wind out of my sails for this season. Not done, but I don't see myself going no-life mode until next season again.

Of course I had cheat death passive on, doesnt matter when you crash, who knows how long it takes the server to realize your'e not on. I died with nothing on me on screen so I dunno.

It normally takes, what, up to 15 seconds to dc? With cheat death passive, estoric, rogar's huge stone, life regen and items like sanguinaey vambraces and you should be fine against most mobs.

Is this a speedfarm build? What's in the cube? And what's that item at the bottom right of your inventory?

Yeah speedfarm build. I'm wearing 6p tal, 4pc firebird with a little over 50% CDR.

Cube is ingeom/aquila cuirass/rorg.

I'm running 2-3 min 60s, 3.5min 65s

For 65's I run illusionist or glass cannon then switch to blur for 66+. For 69+ you should probably switch to stricken since in-geom will usually drop off for RG

Had esoteric and 2 cheat deaths (akarats champion prophet up), didn't have the others as the content is way below my gear level and it doesnt fit the build. I really have no idea how I died, they closed the rift and I was alive, log back on, dead.

DCs are weird. Sometimes they just kill you for absolutely no reason. You can be in a four man with them guarding you and no mobs around and when you log back in you're dead.

I think I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I'll never get an Unstable Scepter, or the other few items required to complete my build. Forever stuck in the 40s.

Okay, that's just dumb. I suppose the 'slain by' field is also blank.

soon. I'm paragon like 800 and I only got my first ancient twisted sword drop. maybe only 2 ancient unstable drops all season.

just keep playing. keep TX rifting. the faster the better.

Thanks for motivating me♡

I have a Twisted Sword but I lack some other items, so the build is not as effective as I want it to be. At least with a Scepter I could jump a bunch of GR levels. :<

If you come across a Wand of Woh, you'll be able to speed farm GR50+. But yea the unstable would be faster. Don't forget you can try to upgrade rare wands in the Cube to get one.

I never noticed the +stat to ancient items cube recipe until last week, which has completely changed the endgame for me right about now. Only have a few ancient pieces for my Nat gear, and kadala won't put out and give me an ancient nat helm..

This might be a dumb question, but...let's say for example, you have 2 Traveler's Pledge amulets:

Amulet A:

Regular Legendary, dream rolled
20% _______ (best elemental for your build and it matters)
10% CC
100% CD
Socket

Amulet B:

Ancient Legendary, good rolls
700 (or whatever a good roll is) primary stat
9% CC
90% CD
Socket

Is there any way to make Amulet B better than Amulet A through Despair stat additions? Can Amulet B compete with Amulet A if it had an additional 450 main stat on it or is it forever 2nd place?

20% elemental always wins because of despair (despair and paragon levels dwarf a 750 or 1000 stat line on a single item, while elemental rolls are limited on gear, generally you only have 2 or 3)
Going from 15k to 16k (6% increase) mainstat isn't nearly as good as going from 20% to 40% (16% increase) elemental damage

even then elemental damage is better I think lol, unless you're playing fire or lightning which have a lot of legendaries that give %elem

LoN

I think you're right, though you would lose that 4% dmg reduction as well from the extra LoN piece.

Being extremely simple, say a lightning ability normally does 1 damage:
A: (1 + (1200% from LoN)) * 1.2% = 15.6
B: 1 + (1300% from LoN) = 14

About 11% difference. If I know how to do math and if I interpreted LoN's additive property vs an amulet's multiplicative prop correctly before coffee kicks in.

..little extra though: the ~700(how high does it go on an ancient ammy actually?) stat + ~300+ stat from recipe would increase damage for the ancient, bringing that 11% down. Let's say for B, we have an extra 1,000 dex. That's 1,000% increased damage from main stat. Let's say the average player has 12,000 main stat, that would be an increase of about 8%. The higher the mainstat (the higher the paragaon), the less the impact. Even so, the difference is now about 3% instead of 11%. Closer, and more meaningful for those with less mainstat, coupled with the additional dmg reduction, makes it negligible in difference.

I'm sorry, but what does LoN mean? I'm dumb, remember

Oh and for clarity we're talking about Traveler's Pledges (which means Compass Rose has to be used). That distinction probably matters. Sorry for not being more clear there.

20% elemental always wins because of despair (despair and paragon levels dwarf a 750 or 1000 stat line on a single item, while elemental rolls are limited on gear, generally you only have 2 or 3)

Understood. So Amulet A is the undisputed winner. Damn...I guess that's a good thing. Less work to do augmenting with gems.

Litany of nightmare. It's the ring set. Ancient non set items give 100% damage per item.

ooooh ok. yea, this is for a Traveler's Pledge that needs the Compass Rose, so the Litany ring set is not an option here. Original question amended for clarity.

Well shit, this is it, I just finished my very first season journey and all I got was a pet who makes sounds all the time.

The portrait also makes the Paragon Point not show clearly.

Do I get to keep my season character when the season is done? Does it revert to a normal character so I can access my normal stuff or is it forever a season character?

Don't even need to take spell damage into account, as elemental damage and LoN's bonus are both multiplicative bonuses

Elemental damage roll : 1.2 vs 1.4 damage mult (16.66%)
LoN : 1.2 vs 1.3 damage mult (8.33%) and 150 vs 160 damage mult for mainstat (6.66%) amounting to a total of 15.5%, so it's a bit worse with perfect rolls (and that implies you get a 1000 mainstat roll, I think the range is 800-1000 ?)
Yeah the only advantage would be DR

it's transfered to non season at the end
The pets really do have a weird sound effect now yeah

At last, my friends, it is over. It is done. I joined a public T10 rift game wearing gold% gear, and we got a Gilded Baron. 67 million dropped and now I have a cool silver border on my season portrait.

Finally I'm on the home stretch for the +1 stash space. The hardest thing will be completing a second conquest. Thankfully, I hear Witch Doctor is one of the better classes for clearing the lvl 45 grift with no set bonus conquest.

I did the 45 no set with a Thorns Crusader without issue-- just held on to any legendaries along the way and cobbled together something in no time flat. The last one I'm doing is the 6 sets @ GR55-- Have all 4 done on the Crusader-- figuring Barb makes most sense since they're both STR characters.

In other news, I was a little annoyed you didn't get Haedrig's gift again on HC as well as SC. They go out of their way to keep the 2 separate which I get 100%, but why not throw us a little bone here. As it stands, I got to 70 HC and will never touch it again

Looks like it's about that time when the clan dwindles down to 5-8 active players, never fails every season. All my friends already stopped too, I hit p600 on sc and havent gotten another HC powerleveled yet. Just missing a conquest and gr70 for guardian though so that's my goal before I stop. Any way blizz could keep casual players playing more than 2-3 weeks of a season? Maybe mini events, temporary items or something, I dunno just spit balling ideas. What do you guys think?

Edit: Sweet 11 of us on, not bad, was 7 before though lol

They used to do community events where you got double goblins, bounty caches, etc, for a weekend, but said they werent doing them this season because they dont like making people feel like they have to wait for one or log on when there is one.

Longer season journey, special boss events maybe
something other than climbing GR

but I also don't want to spend too long in each season, burn out, and stop playing for a long time

That is why we're casual though
don't play for long or climb leaderboards

Put random events in Rifts. They already have the basis with the Cow rift.
Make some theme-styled rifts, or let the player pick them?
Create more random events like the Goblin Vault, Pony level and Cow level or cool boss events like the neck runs.
Put some legs on specific bosses or boss types, so people play more of that content.
Make it fun to branch out of Rifts from time to time. Bounties would have been one way, but bounties are still more of a chore.

Speaking of bounties, I'd love a change to the leg mats drop, at least for the bonus part. From act specific bonus to the bonus being for the first set of bounties of one act completed, with the bonus cache giving all the bonus mats.
I like specific loot (think The Butcher and The Butcher's Cleaver in D1), but the way the bounties, with bonus and the leg mats, are in, makes it feel more like an annoying chore you have to do than a fun diversion.
Also... put the teleport on level 2 for Cydea!

weekly goals for some sort of cosmetic would be cool.

In fact, weekly goals instead of the set dungeons would have been fucking awesome. Meet 7 weekly goals to unlock the wings or something like that and I think casuals would be much more inclined to continue playing over a longer period of time.

Rat swarm is crazy strong but it moves in a straight line towards you more or less so it's pretty easy to avoid.. usually

unless you can't see what's going on because of too much shit on screen

I'm just bitter because having to bounce around him as Wiz made me lose a decent GR 79 run. Lots of kiting = lost DPS.

These actually make my build more powerful and are thus my favorites :p

Melee Wiz can't take him or Ghom at all. They're basically the only auto-lose RGs. The rat guy isn't completely auto lose but the rat swarm damage output is shockingly high.

I know they're not gonna do goblin and bounty events, which I can see why as it's way more efficient just to play a ton that weekend and just not play for 3 months. I really like how they gated the stash tab behind the journey, it really forced me to keep going after I had cleared a 63 on my barb. I think it would be neat to introduce a new goblin every month or something, just can't make it too good like a double goblin or anything. Weekly goals is a good way to keep players going though, I would love more hardcore incentives like a hardcore race where they expect you to die but reward you afterwards.

What about adding a chapter to the journey every 2 weeks? And it doesn't completely rely on GR pushing.

Speaking of hardcore, ballis power leveled me quickly and I had a blessed hammer set already so I jumped into melting t6, worked my way up to gr40 where I face orlash, proc'd my cheat death and ran in circles panicking lol, was intense. Didn't die though. Its fun when you don't lag.

Yea no, and fuck that nonsense.

Not only do stash tabs need to NOT be gated, they should also not be limited like they are. It's absolute fucking nonsense that we have such limited space while other similar games have no meaningful stash restrictions at all. Suggesting that you "like" it is just sort of fucking infuriating. With respect. Stash space should not be a fucking carrot on a stick. It's been a core complaint about Diablo 3 for 4 fucking years. If you're new to the game I understand, but as a veteran since launch I couldn't roll my eyes harder at that sentence.

I feel like they can sell so much by doing real cash sales of additional stash slots from some micro transaction (like PoE) for the longest fucking time but they won't. But the way the game is now, more stash is needed and all they can do is give 1 tab per 3 months... -_-

This shit is nuts. :p Like they introduced Rebirth mechanic. COOL. Except after doing it, I was emailed all the gear/inventory and I had NO fucking room for all of it. I had to do some serious inventory management because of this stupid mail inventory / limited stash space.

yeah, i agree. they need something substantial to work towards, but not something that should be a default feature.

its like "complete your season journey to be able to turn off sound effects in your Options menu." How about fuck you with your asshole expectations of getting through all of it.
