Dark Souls III week on Playstation Access

I'm coming from Bloodborne, never played a Dark Souls before and I'm looking to make my entry in this one.

I have a question, we only got 3 flasks as opposed to the 20 blood vials in Bloodborne? That must make the game considerably more challenging.

You find more flask while exploring.

In DS1 you can also get 20 estus flasks

I don't think we yet know about flasks limit in this game, but in the beta alone we had more than 3(probably 5)

Lol yup...Im sure the writers/Miyazaki understand Dark Souls 2's small world building additions didnt amount to very much. The major beats are getting some love though, like the thrones and crowns and giants...sadly. Hopefully theyre able to retcon that nonsense into having actual significance.

Honestly, I feel like it's going to be largely ignored, at least in the grand scheme of things. I wouldn't be surprised if the Giant King won't have any real connection to the DkS2 giants besides his faceholething and the crowns turn out to be, well, just crowns instead of the specific anti-hollowing crowns from the DLC.
Also calling it right now, the game will either mention Manus/The Pygmy by name or at least subtly hint at him while completely ignoring Nashandra and the all the other queens.

It works like in DS2, there's no rite of kindling, you get more flask exploring the areas.

In the beta, every character have a diferent number of flasks. If I'm not mistaken with each estus shard we can upgrade either the orange flask or the blue one (MP)

That's only the starting amount. In both Dark Souls 1 and 2 you can upgrade the amount that you can carry, and they replenish each time you rest at a bonfire.

I'm fine with that, and hopefully the limit is 13 like in DS2 as well.

It's like Miyazaki is ignoring two and is not taking from any of the positives. Seems like DS2 was made in a complete vacuum from all the other Souls games.

But the damn stupid Vigor/Vitality/Endurance split from DS2 is back. If the Luck stat is affecting invincibility frames like ADP in DS2 people will riot.

Like everyone said, you get more. Actually in Dark Souls 1, if you kindle a bonfire once (easy to do) you get 10 flasks when resting, which is quite generous. Most of the time you'll be dead or on your way back to the bonfire before you run out. You can get 20 max if you kindle the same bonfire two more times when you get a later item. Dark Souls 2 handled flasks differently and also gave you Lifegems (regen items).

In BB though, they definitely made things a lot easier in regards to healing. The items are consumable but you can still hold 20 vials from the start. You can also use them faster than flasks, and the healing is instantaneous in comparison to Dark Souls 2. Plus vials also had a dedicated button so you won't be fumbling and scrolling through your equipped items to get to the flask when you need it.

Man, april is the month that my wallet will leave me forever. :(

Will not watch though, not that I'm on blackout, but prefer the least information I can get.

I wonder why they haven't shown any PC footage. I am kinda worried that the game will be capped at 30FPS for the PC at launch.

Anyone against me creating a new thread with sources to all the content that is going to be going live at 8am CST?

That's when the official embargo from Bandai Namco's press event drops.

I know they'll be at least 4 Twitch streams that'll be showing up to 45 minutes of direct feed footage from the event with permission.

Some holding back certain spoilers, others not so much.

The healing system in Dark Souls and Bloodborne kinda work differently.

In Bloodborne it's based off of consumables that you can buy or farm of enemies, while in Dark Souls you have a limited number of heals, when you rest at a bonfire this number is restored basically.

You can also find upgrades to increase the number of held flasks and also the amount of health each flask heals.

Also not to forget you can kindle bonfires to increase the amount of flasks you have each time you rest at that particular bonfire.

Please do so! :) We need a "hub" for that stuff. There will be countless media outlets that just wait for the embargo to lift.

People who don't want to spoil themselves just need to stay out of that thread.

I've got one ready to go, I'll put it live an hour before the embargo lifts.

Holy shit, one part in that video I could swear it was from Bloodborne, damn. Looking forward to it though. I would love some Xbox One videos, but I am sure the differences are going to be very small.

They should get Outside Xbox to do a week's worth of videos like this to demo the Xbone version. Two of my favourite YouTube channels.

I realized that I have no will power to hold out on spoilers and since the japanese version is coming out so much sooner than other territories I went ahead and preordered the japanese version.

I took the next two days off from work and I'm gonna be livestreaming the entire thing for those who want to see. Only problem is I can't read japanese

Today is the end of the embargo for all those press events so more places should be getting previews soon. No one got a mirror for that video?

New screenshots from videogamer (mild spoilers ahead, glimpses of a new area). I don't think they're on their site yet.

These two are my favorite

I'm so glad they didn't go with night theme from Bloodborne :')

so refreshing

also is this the first time ever we get woods area in the day time? fuck yeah.

They're two of my favorites as well. Especially the first one. Is it just me or does the one image look like there may be a ducking dodge mechanic? Looks as if he's ducking purposefully under that red cloaked knights spear thrust. I would embed the shot but I'm on mobile.

You mean this one?

we have seen this in like a 2/3 weeks old video

it's like a BB's side dodge exclusive to some daggers as a weapon art and it consumes both stamina and MP.

Yup that's the one I meant. I didn't see that a few weeks back with the weapon arts been trying to not spoil too much since De Dk Souls and Bloodborne are my favorite games couldn't help myself today though lol. That's pretty sweet it def seems like it could make playing dagger rogue types somewhat more fun.

I'm wondering if this pic might be a glimpse of the
desert city
from the original leak.

I don't remember much from the leak

but man a
desert city
? From are stepping up their game when it comes to new locations <3

desert/sand areas
in video game have always been one of my favorites.

No armor reinforcement option and the way you access the High Wall are a little jarring.
I hope the whole game is interconnected after that.

Also some little nitpicks -
You can warp to every bonfire and not only a few like DS1. Kind of a shame in my opinion.
And I hoped there'd be another master key, but oh well.

Everything else looks amazing

Are those two confirmed ?

As long as this exists in the game, this game is GOTY already

This is first time seeing this image and it's amazing. Was gonna go the Japanese route but since it's my favorite series and releases state side on my bday I'm gonna be patient and give myself a little extra something to look forward to this year for it. Makes me feel like a kid again when you really couldn't wait for bday gifts when there was something you really wanted badly.

Yes and no- You'll get more and you can upgrade your flask so it heals more and then there's life gems that gradually restore HP slowly over time- so you can buy those as much as you want, pop'em and then use the flask for bigger heals. Also you can skew towards cleric and get heal spells basically you won't be short on healing items.

It releases state side a week after my b-day, so I imported it with expedited shipping from Japan.

I will be playing this on March 25th...yes!
