I think at the very least, we can confirm the cast and probably their names safely. Those are unlikely to be wrong.

I think this is also worth posting.

I don't know what to believe anymore. Well I'll just wait for the official word from aksys. I'm also working on a big ass overview post from the last 2 games for people who don't have the time to replay both.

Strange response from Aksys.

Well we don't have much to wait so it really doesn't matter.

Everything about this game sounds amazing, I hope they really let Uchikoshi do whatever he wanted this time around.

How much of a chance is there that we will get the game first or at least the same day as Japan? I mean, supposedly the game is being made because of the west being crazy about it.

I have a few things to say and things to theorize, but I'll keep it short.
Q=Quark is way too obvious. But we'll see. It's obvious that Uchikoshi knows that we would make that assumption right away.
Also, there is a lot of potential for a Ever17-esque situation, so SPOILER for Ever17.
Having three separate groups is the perfect playground for letting us believe that the three stories happen at the same time, while there will FOR SURE be some time-related shenanigans, especially with team Q, which could probably be located in another time.
Or, actually, team C...
Akane doesn't know what happens in the Nevada test site. Junpei was... Involved with the project... It all seems too convenient. The player needs to be tricked into thinking that these 9 people are in the same place at the same time, while the real group C might be an entirely different one.
I said it! We'll see how it turns out! ;)

So I'm guessing the 'cinema part' will replace the characters standing still while talking with something like the cut-scenes from a Zelda game where you have to push a button to advance the text on the screen as it's voice acted through a cut-scene.

If that's the case it sounds amazing!

I wonder if the three teams will only be teams for the escape rooms? Similar to in VLR except the teams don't change this time.

Like others have said, I hope we still get to see all of them mingle with each other and not be separated too much.

999's wasn't interesting. They all had the exact twists you would expect
Akane being Zero is so obvious that I don't even tag it as a spoiler anywhere besides here
. Anyway, I forgot about the
Left clone
, so that's like... 4.5 returning characters. A little better. I don't see how people don't see Junpei as an edgelord emo kid, though. It's ancedotal, but all the people I know that dress like that fall in that category. And if he is f'd up because of 999
then why doesn't he show it in VLR? Tenmyouji is kinda jovial whenever anything isn't happening to Quark.

Carlos may not be a Left clone. At least it makes no sense he has a sister if he is...

Also Tenmyouji had some dickish Betray moments in VLR.

I'm really curious to see how
the typical gameplay plot twist will work this time around. I can't see Uchikoshi giving Diana, Q, or Carlos the same abilities as Junpei, and especially not Phi and Sigma since that would defeat the whole purpose. That leads me to wonder if they'll actually have any special abilities to discover at all. If they do, it'll definitely be gameplay relevant though.

Also in guessing the protagonist is just the person who we play as in the puzzle sections as the rest are cinematics. I'm also really happy Uchikoshi is getting is way on this I remember on Twitter years back he talked about the
the 3 groups of 3 people

Actually, I was thinking more of a Heavy Rain-like approach. Minus the QTE.
It would be cool if we could control our character in 3rd person during the "novel/cinematic" sections.

Yeah I'm the same here with the media blackout. Knowing the characters and seeing the art is too much already. I went into the first two completely blind and was pleasantly surprised by how the story hooked me in.

Need to somehow forget about this until it actually comes out. Been waiting ages for this.

I would love some more horror elements.

I hope Quark gets some kind of backstory in this though. I felt like his presence in VLR was way too insignificant. I only saw him as a motivator for Junpei's votes in the prisoner's dilemma. I was so confused on why he was even included in VLR by the end. I thought he was a clone at one point.

I'm pretty sure that WAS his sole reason.

VLR Spoiler
Maybe Kyle's consciousness (you) can transfer between Diana, Q and Carlos. If you remember the extra ending of VLR, Old Akane said to Kyle (?): "Only you can help them"

Maybe at the end of the game
Kyle____
needs to sacrifice himself so you
uninstall the game or take out the cart or something

The couple of weeks break you mentioned should be more than enough time. Granted, I was extremely hyped when it came out, but I think I plowed through VLR in about a week, maybe a little over.

Thanks, that's reassuring. Though I just checked and apparently the break's actually pretty much just one week. I'll do my best, lol. There's a lot of other easier games I could knock out quicker though, but Zero Escape...

No seriously I'm going to bed but I expect to check this thread tomorrow and see a valid explanation as to whether or not the phi=dog theory is true and a proper rebuttal.

I want to put /s in my post but I need this to happen.

Sad to see Snake isn't among the participants, but then I wasn't really expecting him to anyway. Hoping for a Cameo still though

Only 80% done when the game is due out in a few months?
At this point they can probably crank out content pretty efficiently and that remaining 20% probably isn't exclusively time-consuming content creation. So they might actually be pretty close to having a content-complete game and will just use the rest of the time remaining on polishing the experience, QA & making some small changes at most.
