Clash Royale |OT| Should I keep playing when I’m full on chests?

Given the minimal number of tools clan leaders get, it's nearly impossible. We're going on a week cycle in NeoGAF now.

Also, since you have to play up to Level 3 before you can jump into a clan, one would hope the "I don't like this game" folks bail out a little sooner.

Should I just join a free non-Gaf clan till the week is up then? Will someone let me know/PM me when there is availability?

Got kind of bored with the game but then managed to build a decent zerg deck.. Hovering right around 1200 right now, not sure if I will be able to progress much further or not.

It is just fun when I make it to the 2 minute mark, and then have enough elixir to just spam units.

Yeah it's hard, I know. I am having those same problems.

The minimum requirement to join my clan is 1800, so you'd think those folks would have a sense about whether they want to keep playing the game or not. Alas, we have quitters all the time.

I'm trying to post here any time I'm opening up spots, which will typically happen on Sunday morning (East coast time). There are a couple other members with kick/accept powers and I'll try to make sure they leave a note here. But obviously, demand is high and available spots are low, so we can't guarantee a hold or anything.

I'm lv 5 and got up to 1400 trophies, but its pretty hard to progress at this point. I rarely face other lv 5s, mostly lv. 6 and 7s who have at least 1-2 lv per troop advantage over me.

I wish the matchmaking was skill based and not trophie based. I don't want to face bad players who just started playing ealier than me and have higher cards, I want to face skilled players who have cards similar to my cards.

It feels great to win against Lv. 7 guys, but I only win because they make obvious mistakes.
On the other hand it sucks to lose even though you played an almost perfect match just because the troops I face are so much higher than mine so there is o way to effectively counter them.

I honestly don't know of any other way to do it. If it was "skill" based and you wanted to match up to other people with the same level of cards you have, then it might be incentive to never level the cards and go up against other people and it may be easier to win? I don't know. Trophy level base is effectively skilled base, its just a p2w game, and without paying you may be behind other people card level wise.. it sucks, but it is what it is.

Same. Been playing almost a week between arena 3 and 4. Kings level or whatever it's called is 6. Would like to join a gaf clan. How does that happen

Right place right time. Keep checking thread and the leaders usually let people know if there is a spot open, but they go quick.

Never thought I'd play another super cell game but tried this on a whim, hooked instantly. How do I join a gaf clan?

Edit: saw about the invites. Wondering if there is enough for another clan hanging around our at least a staging clan.

I've been waiting for more invites to free up however doesn't seem to be happening. I'm open to making a new one if that's what needs to happen.

What's the best use of gems in this game? I ended up using 100 to get a prince, was getting tired of losing to him. Figure I'll just hoard the rest until I understand the game more.

If you're trying to be f2p, you should save gems till you have 500 and buy gold with it. Use the gold to buy cheap cards from the shop and use it to upgrade your cards (gets expensive quick)

I am amazingly bad at this game. Despite having good cards for F2P it is a constant struggle to stay in arena 4. I'm apparently ass at counting elixir, half the time the opponent blows their load so I think I'm safe to counter and it gets stuffed. It's just so frustrating.

There seems to be at least a handful of clanless people lurking in the shadows... So all we need is a brave soul to step forward and bring light to the people :)

Thanks, this seems smart. I wasn't sure if there were other synchs for gems I wasn't aware of yet. It seems like gold is going to be hard to come by. Still happy I bought the prince since he's really strong at this early level but I'll hoard from here on out.

Is it smart to use the gold I have on those the cheap cards that keep cycling?

Personally I wouldn't bother, too expensive. You will get enough commons down the road and esp. when you are in a Clan. Then you can buy the first rare for a 10 Gold Profit if you donate. Better spend the gold on upgrading and the odd epic you want desperately (and you want Baby Dragon!).

Pulled an Ice Wizard from a free chest and it's carried my team of level 6 commons to Arena 6. Fantastic card that I probably won't ever get to level 2.

My #1 tip for improving is to watch your own replays.

I feel like this game in particular encourages being in that forever loop because of trophy based matching. I'm ALWAYS matched with someone at least one level above. If we both play well, I lose since his units and health are better. Eventually you will hit a tipping point until your cards improve which requires money to happen fast

Best part is even after paying money, this design will mean you will just get matched with even higher level players, providing an endless loop of devs getting rich

yeah, you're definitely on the money there. that's why the game needs more modes. clan tournaments, for example (with options to set a fixed level of entry OR have the game set everyone back to a specific level). another interesting thing would be a random deck mode where players just get dealt the same random hand of cards, with the algorithm set to avg. mana cost of, say, 3-5 or something

Been playing this game for the past few days. Insanely addictive… already spent a hefty amount. :/ (to my estimates anyway)

I'm level 8 / 1500 trophies. I have a lot of cards so I could help with donations. If there's a clan that needs me, my ID is 'robokick'.

I've been playing this for about a week now and still don't have prince or baby dragon, which about everyone else seem to have. Sure I can defend against them somewhat, but they do seem quite powerful. I think I'm nearing the point where I'm calling it quits, getting too frustrated at how slowly everything progresses.

You definitely have to be in it for the long haul, especially if you are F2P.

I've been lucky with the f2p stuff.

I've gotten Prince, Pekka, Mirror, all from free chests.

Same. Got to arena 4 yesterday, and all I'm missing from the available card pool are X-Bow, Pekka, and Freeze. Most people seem to have the bread and butter cards, but it's the nature of this thing that some will get ridiculously unlucky. :/

I'm 21 trophies away from arena 4, but I still got an arena 4 silver chest. How's that possible? My opponent was also under 1100 trophies, yet we still battled on the fourth arena. Confusing.

I made it to area 4. Lost. And I'm now back to area 3. I need better cards!

Edit: I've also been lucky with my chest draws. Dropped a little cash to get gold so I can get the daily epics too. Addicted.

I'm not sure if the player with the higher arena level is always the home player, but once you hit the threshold number of trophies to get to the next arena level you stay there until you drop to less than 50 below the threshold number. So if you get to Arena 4 at 1100 and then drop to 1070 you'll still be at Arena 4.

And then you can get an Arena 4 chest by winning on Arena 4 even if it's not your home arena.

Is this game supposed to be some weird social experiment?

I have never found myself happy to actually loose and just satisfied to get a crown or two so my rank gets low enough to let me play against players at the same level again. Apparently I won too much too quickly so now I am meeting players with rare cards and levelled up decks I can barely can do anything against.

Or Minion Horde or spear goblins/archers near your tower

Right, but the key is to let the dragon lock onto your tower and THEN drop your units. Else the dragon will just one-shot them. The dragon actually does very little damage to your tower, so letting it get in a shot or two is better than losing your units.

Everyone talking about Baby Dragon being powerful. I don't have a problem countering them but I'm still at Arena 1. I don't have one yet. Is it really that good? Seems meh to me, maybe my opponent not using it correctly.

IMO it's probably the best all around unit in the game. It's not the most powerful, doesn't do the most damage, but it's just so versatile and fits into every deck. It's very rarely a bad choice to play a dragon, especially since ppl don't always have a lot of anti-air units.

finally passed 1200 without immediately falling down again. got rid of the giant skeleton and mini pekka and put in the 3 mana minions and the skeleton horde

I dropped to arena 3 yesterday after trying out some decks and then got the giant chest right before I got back to arena 4, wow :(

Then the shitty giant chest only gives me hundreds of skeletons I don't use. Started to level my musketeer too late and donated so many of them, now I am in dire need of better air defense with everyone rocking the baby dragon, which of course I don't have.

There's a donation limit lol

I can't donate for another 8 hours

I laughed my ass off too when I saw it the first time.
