Paragon ‘early access’ begins 18th March.

Anyone playing want to add each other? I usually play support or the mage.

Askherserenity

If I can log into the Feedback forums am I in beta? If so how do I DL the client? Should it be in my library?

Not so sure anymore since they opened it up for purchase. If you're trying to play on the PS4, just search for Paragon on the Playstation Store and see if it lets you download it.

If you're on PC then it should just let you download it from the Epic launcher.

I've played league, played a bit of smite on PS4, and I've played paragon.

Love the characters in LoL and was fairly easy to get in on back when I played it.
Recently tried smite and you can tell the game has had changes over its life and I found it very difficult to get into it. Too many characters, lots of stuff you have to read up on.

Paragon is another beast entirely. Games are way too long, map is too large, movement is too slow, never felt like cards had any impact in the few games I played, don't care for any of the characters, some of the controls felt odd. The graphics look great but that doesnt matter when the game is no fun.

I enjoyed my time with the Battleborn beta more than paragon.

Cards make a HUGE difference. Just make sure you're getting the right cards and upgrading them all the way.

I agree with everything else though. The game goes on for WAY too long. They need to make almost everything faster. Hopefully they're listening because everyone says the same thing.

I've wanted so badly to get in on a MOBA from the start, so I'm actually really excited to play this. I've spent a lot of time messing with LoL, HotS, and Smite the last few months but always feel lost because I don't know the meta of all the dozens and dozens of heroes. I'm interested to see how this game feels, even with many saying how slow it is.

So... where's my Early Access invite? :(
This is the last email I received from Epic on March 4th:
As someone who has signed up for the beta, even if you don’t want to buy a Founder’s Pack, you will be invited to free Beta Weekends during the Early Access Season.

You can also choose to buy a Founder’s Pack starting on March 14, and begin playing March 18. We’ll have more details on Founder’s Packs and Beta Weekends soon. If you’d rather wait, the game will be in free Open Beta in the summer of 2016.
So I can only play on weekends?

The game has gotten better and better since I first saw it, it's actually a really solid MOBA atm. I'm not in love with the Card system but the rest is great.

Anybody have any invites sitting around? I bought the founders pack on ps4 without reading. Thought that I'd be able to play but I have to wait until the 18th.

SCEE fucked up. It will be in the store on the 18th.

Tonight for OT players.
A number of you have asked for information on when Paragon will be available for download in the EU PlayStation Store. Here are the latest details:
OT players, we are working with Sony Europe to get an accessible download of the game for you by end of day Tuesday 3/15.
Paragon Founder's Packs will be available in the Sony EU store this Friday 3/18.
We're sorry for the delay. We want you to be able to play Paragon as soon as possible and will let you know once the downloads are available.

was about to bite the bullet on a founders pack before i saw this

having played a little bit of league and dota and lots of HotS and SMITE, the things you mentioned are what I hate most about MOBA games

Movement speed seems to be the biggest thing right now that needs to be changed. Reading the reddit, even the alpha players had huge threads about it. It isn't going to change.

Yes. It's slow as molasses. Slower than other mobas. People who don't like mobas aren't going to like it. It is very nice looking though. No problem pc vs ps4 since it's so slow anyway. Did I mention how slow it is?

The recent builds are a lot better than the first. I closed it out after my second game and didn't try it again until the PS4 version hit. It was slower than it is now.

I'm in the same boat but I read it as "special" free weekends and not every weekend. They want you pay $20 to play.... Not my usually genre of game but I was certainly down to try it for free. They should worry about exposing the genre to new players versus milking old especially since it's featured on the PSN store.

I honestly just quit my match. This game is fucking infuriating, having a Grux within 10 min that can kill players under tower while being hit by the tower and players is insane. The movement speed is so slow, it feels like a struggle to just move out of an attack. Not to mention skills have fucking long ass cool downs.

Oh yeah, you want to escape an onslaught cause your movement speed is too slow to do anything? Use your escape and- oh. The enemy just used their escape to catch up and now your dead.

GENIUS game design there.

I feel like I'm seeing a game with potential and yet as it is right now, it's taking that potential and flushing it down the toilet.

Not to mention holy shit do some characters snow ball so hard. Muriel had gotten some kills and me as Twinblast, was attacking her with my auto and had to peer in close to even see that I was doing any damage to her and this was less than 6 minutes in.

I don't understand the complaints about movement speed, running out to a tower under sprint feels about the same as every other moba I've played. I'd be more concerned about the lack of teleport scrolls or similar? at the moment, at least as far as I can tell. Makes it hard to defend towers.

Anyway, I'm having fun with it playing the mage. Decent wave clear, great chase, OK escape spell.

Don't think people mean its slow to move to and from the base using sprint. Sounds like its more the regular movement speed that is too slow, like when in fighting. Too slow can make it feel like there is no action, no way of dodging AOE attacks or similar.

Yup, it's the general movement speed that is really slow. It feels like it takes a dog's age to dodge out of AoE's, half the time you can't move out because your so slow. If I get jumped on, by a melee hero, as Twinblast, they basically get a free kill unless I'm like fed at that point. And if you try to escape, they will use their escape to easily close the gap. Or in Grux's case, he will use his escape to close the gap and then use his skill that launches you back towards him, which you probably won't dodge since you move so slow.

Most of the characters have dodge/short range teleport moves to get out of spots like/into good positions. Playing Gideon the only time I really die is if that cheap shit Grux jumps me or I decide to suicide ult. Just gotta know the other heroes abilities and save mana for my escape/play safe if it is down. There are a bunch of snares in the game, but I seem to recall seeing cards that can purge negative effects? Or maybe I'm thinking of the division.

Gideon does a good Pharah impersonation, "Death rains from ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

Wish I'd get a piece of mana regen equip so I could use the various mana regen upgrades I've gotten.

I didn't. I can play this just by downloading the client from PSN? I'm intetested so that's why I ask.

I think anyone can download the client (I did on PS4 and I've not been part of any previous tests or anything), however when you try to log into the server you'll get a message saying you need to purchase the founders pack in order to play. From what I understand, if you purchase a founders pack you should be able to start playing tommorrow.

Reading the thread and they claim it's not pay 2 win but you buy xp boosters which then let you buy cards at a faster rate. How is this not p2w? Am I misunderstanding how the system works?

https://www.epicgames.com/paragon/f...s-time-window-for-tomorrow&p=36904#post_36904

Hey everyone,

We're super excited to kick off Early Access tomorrow. We can't wait for new players to join us! Many of you are asking what time Paragon will be available and thought we'd provide a little context around the plan for the day.

It's important to be as stable as possible as we roll out Early Access. We'll begin slowly bringing in new Founder's Pack players mid-morning Eastern time to make sure we don't see an influx that might make it tough for people to play. We think this is the best option to optimize for a smooth experience. If we do run into issues, we promise we'll keep you up to date in the forums and launcher.

We'll also keep this thread updated with any new information as things begin to come online. See you tomorrow!

It sounds like it just means buying card packs quicker which isn't too bad because getting cards is pretty quick as it is.

Also I wonder if they would offer some Gideon skins or something soon. I still have leftover cash due to getting UE4 at launch but don't want to buy the founders pack.

Founders Packs

Did you buy Master or Challenger pack? Because those are the only two that come with a pack for a friend.

Or maybe you're talking about something different that's only on PS4, not sure.

So what's the general consensus so far with the game? I've been a part of a lot of their weekend beta tests and honestly have been underwhelmed by a lot of the balancing so far.

Unfortunately, I feel like they're taking a page out of League of Legends style of balancing where they would completely nerf a character and remove unique properties about them that make them special. Gideon, for example, was amazingly strong when I first played, so much so I stopped playing him because he was too good. They balanced him in the next betas where positioning and timing of his ult mattered a lot more as he was vulnerable to pretty much anyone's ult to counter his. Now his ult does so little damage and people can walk out of it so easily that all it does is put him out of position and an easy target for Twinblast or Sparrow to just ult and finish him off.

I don't have too much of a problem with the movement speed since I constantly spam the sprint mode, but am careful enough to not get hit while in it. Also not convinced by the card system kinda feels like a mechanic implemented to make you spend money on the game.

What's everyone's thoughts so far?

I'm kind of interested n this but from everything ive read and seen in not exactly sure how this game works. Is it online based matches? Is there lobbies? Everything seems very vague about this game and I hesitate to spend money on it but I'm interested.

What other games can it be compared to gameplay wise?

Have you played a MOBA? LoL or Dota 2 style? Basically the same idea, it's online matches and the game will matchmake you with other people to make a 5v5. If you play solo, it'll match you with 4 others. You can make a party with friends if you want.

It plays similar to LoL except for the third person gameplay, and items/runes are basically combined into the card system.

Alright cool and no I've never played a moba but I've seen videos of LoL. I don't know it just looked like a third person shooter so I just wanted to check and I'm glad I did. Thanks for the help.

I love dota.

My buddies less so, a little bit too complex.

Will I be able to get them into this or will they have the same complaints?

I know thats kind of general, but any opinions are appreciated.

So it's basically a lot like Smite?

Oh shit, didn't realize the $30 Epic gave out to people who subscribed to the engine before it went free could be used towards this.

Founder's Pack it is. Might have bit on Challenger at $40.

So is this early access some kind of limited time beta phase, or can I play until release if I buy the founders pack?
