Quantum Break Windows 10 graphical settings revealed

Triple buffer vsync, not double, which means it will vary between 30-60 and not stay locked at 30. The framerate lock in Gears Ultimate was awful, and made the game look choppy when used:

I don't trust this to be any different.

See above.

Makes more sense now, damn that's pretty bad.
Hopefully I can run this somewhat decent 60fps.

It would be worth trying to use Nvidia's framerate limiter in the control panel if nothing else. Maybe the half-refresh rate option will work with a driver update.

EDIT: I actually just checked, and the refresh rate options through Inspector are working with Gears Ultimate, so there is hope. I just limited it to 1/4th refresh rate and it was definitely running at 15fps, just to make it obvious.

Is it native direct X 12?

What's "native DX12"? As in the renderer developed for D3D12 from scratch? Then no, it's a port of D3D11 renderer:

Is there a way to preorder on PC? Or is it just the Xbox version?
From what I gather...load up the Xbox App on Win10, sign in to your account and preorder from the app. We get a code mailed to use the "week of launch"...lol it better not be more than a day or two after.

You can only preorder on Xbox One, and with that preorder you'll get the key to redeem it on Windows 10, i hope they'll send that key already april 5th.
I'm looking at it on the xbox app on win10 right now. It buys the X1 version but sends the code around launch. Looks like i can preorder from the app and don't need an xbone

I hope that too, i'd like to play it start to finish on PC, though i don't know if i could resist more than a few days waiting for the PC code having it already preloaded on Xbox One...I guess i'll end up starting it on Xbox One

Just hope the AA option is good. I remember Batman AK also had AA on/off and I think the AA was FXAA and really blurred the overall image.

Sidenote. I have a birthday coming up. How would someone go about getting me Quantum Break for PC off the windows store? Do the xbox cards also add the account balance to your windows store account?

Xbox Credit works on the Windows 10 store so they can go about it that way.

Exactly you answered my question
Thanks

With D3D12 being less than a year on the market it's highly unlikely that there will be a renderer developed specifically for D3D12 at this time. Supporting DX11 is also important for now as not everyone have upgraded to Win10. (I'm actually a bit surprised at the DX12 requirement for QB but only a bit since it's MS 1st party.)

Game has a hard-cap at 60 FPS, unfortunately. Makes no sense for it to be that way though, FPS caps should be left to the user :lol.

Are you sure about this? I would assume that the game is "capped" on your display refresh as any UWA app is right now.

So I take it there will be no SLI support since not only is it UWP but also DX12? I doubt they'd go to the trouble of coding for SLI in their DX12 engine because of UWP issues, sigh. A single 970 won't cut it for playing this game at 1440p and playing 1080p just looks bad on a 1440p monitor.

Remedy gets roped into making this game for UWA and it's already worse then their amazing Alan Wake collab.

So what? GPUs are still getting better all the time.

Is there a source for the 60 fps claim anyway? I can't find any
I'd bet within a year you'll be able to play this at 100+ FPS at medium settings with the 16nm GPUs
Youre both right but personally i won't care about this game in a year. I'll play it now in April and that's it most likely. My personal opinion doesn't really matter tho

Oh, thought I read somewhere that it was "up to 60". Maybe I'm confusing it with another Microsoft PC published game. Sorry dudes, didn't mean to stir shit up :p

HBAO+ and VXAO are much better in terms of quality.

HBAO+ is a form of SSAO as far as I know.
SSAO does not mean low key ambient occlusion, people are jumping to conclusion here without knowing that SSAO is a family of AO techniques.

Looks okay. I've not really had any issues really ever running any Remedy game, they are tech wizards, I hope this is no different.

I'm wondering how my PC will handle this, since the X1 games on PC seem to be quite demanding so far.

I have an okay rig (290x, i5 4690k) but I'm not optimistic about the optimisation on this one.

To think I initially was excited about MS bringing some exclusives to the pc...

Sorry Remedy, love your games but you lost another sale here too. What the fuck is it with those limited options?
I mean I know the answer but it's hard to believe how far we have fallen. This is not what I want or expect from pc gaming. As always one step forward, 2 steps back.

Dat AA option tho.

I just hope they do some magic to make SLI work in UWP so I can play this at 4K60 vynced. Phil said SLI is already supported and up to individual devs IIRC. We shall see.

Do we know if the PC version relies on the same reconstruction technique as the Xbox One version ? As a reminder the console version is 1080p reconstructed from 720p frames.

I don't want any of that on PC, I want full native resolution for geometry at least, I know some buffers will still remain 720p.

This is probably going to be the most demanding game this generation and we are already complaining that it doesn't offer VXAO? Really? The last I checked, the 980Ti/Titan X were already reaching their limits with Rise of the Tomb Raider with this option turned on @ 4k.
