Official Friday Estimate: $82,010,000

Whatever war of words Warner Bros.’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice lost with critics with a 30% Rotten Tomatoes score, it’s making up for four-fold at the box office. Last night, Zack Snyder’s Dark Knight and Son of Jor’El smackdown had a great Thursday at the B.O. reaping $27.7M.

For reference, largest midnight/preview US grosses:

1) Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $57M
2) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II - $43.5 million
3) The Dark Knight Rises - $30.6 million
4) The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part II - $30.4M
5) The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I - $30.25M
6) The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - $30.1 million
7) Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - $27.7M
8) Avengers: Age of Ultron - $27.6M

I'm part of the problem but boy did it suck. The audience reaction at my theater was pretty tepid. I'm predicting a great first weekend and an insane drop.

Are there any weekend projections yet?

This movie was never gonna underperform this weekend, we'll see if audiences latch on enough to get word of mouth out for continued success

Like amazing Spider-Man 2, you kinda have to see this regardless of reviews. Batman and supes and Wonder Woman all on the same screen come on

That's a great start especially with most Americans not having today off so many couldn't go last night. $200m+ is absolutely in play this weekend. With how pumped everyone was walking out of my theater I'm expecting good WOM from the general audience.

I'm sure BvS will make bank opening weekend, but the big question is will bad word of mouth kill its legs the following weeks? I'm betting that it does.

I laughed out loud at the number being literally $0.1M higher than Age of Ultron. That's one of those awfully funny figures that comes out of Hollywood on occasion.

Remember, age of ultron was on pace for $200m OW until the mayweather/pacquiao fight just WRECKED its Saturday take

if anything stops bvs from 200m, it'll be the word of mouth spreading quick enough for people to say "fuck it" tonight and tomorrow night

Also, kids being off school today will probably help them quite a bit

I rewatched both ASM films after the last Civil War trailer, and they are far better than their reputations suggest. Garfield and Stone will take some beating as a Spiderman leading duo.

That'll get it about a $165-180m ow, which is very good. I'm not sure how Sunday being Easter will affect it though.

The power of Batman. Even I kind of want to watch it just for him alone.
Its absolutely worth it just for Batman, his stuff is nearly perfection.
Wonder Woman is an added bonus.

Wet blanket Superman is extreme meh, Lex sucks, Lois and the Daily Planet are alright-good for their small role.

Opening previews are pretty useless indicators of overall weekend performance, even within the same genre.

At best, we can conclude that the weekend take will be north of $125M, but that was already a given.

The pile of suck that is that list is depressing. Granted I haven't seen Force Awakens, but in 2-8 there isn't even a good movie among them. Even the best on that list are the worst in their series.

I'd say at least $140m, but pretty much.

I have a feeling it'll break $170m, though.

In seriousness, I'm pretty sure it will continue to do relatively well at the BO
