I hope we get someone that figures out how to make it work with other pads though, only have the one DS4, and would be a bit less of a hassle if I could just use the controller I'm currently using on my PC.

Guess we need an inverse DS4Windows, tricking it into thinking a 360 controller is a PS4 one.

720p60fps works perfectly on my macbook air, even over wifi. This is pretty rad :)

Just played a couch co-op game, me over remote play - them on the couch. Worked flawlessly.

Edit:
How can i switch to 60fps on OSX?
You can access the app preferences from the main app menu before you start the remote play session, at the point it asks you to connect the DS4.

Played some rocket league matches. Impressed how low the inputlag feels. Good job Sony.

That CPU requirement doesn't make sense. The modded Android version can be run on even weak devices. PC version can't be doing mad magic.

The i5 is a mobile CPU, it's likely not very powerful. I would still try it out, an i3 desktop one might be better off than the specific one listed.

For some reason it's not working for me :( It can't automatically find the PS4 via internet and when I try to register it manually using the 8 digit code it says it's incorrect. Oh well.

Kinda depends on how they're doing video decoding, I imagine. On mobile devices they're surely just using the SoC's H264 decoder, but on PC/Mac they might be doing software decoding, in which case you'd need a CPU able to decode 720p/60fps video in software. Even given that, though, the requirements seem high. I'm guessing it's just the lowest spec they bothered testing and it'll probably work on a little less (and the i5 listed is an old mobile chip anyway).

Are you on the 3.50 beta? You need that firmware. If you don't have it, wait for it to launch officially.

if you're forced to use a DS4 with a usb cable, can you reuse a PS4 one without it losing pairing to the PS4? Also I'm now discovering that although I have a ton of micro USB cables, I don't have any long ones.

I use mine for PC games via USB all the time and it doesn't lose pairing with PS4

how weird. Installing this on OS X 10.11 made the Ink preference pane show up in System Preferences... which is only supposed to appear when a graphics tablet is connected.

(also, until tonight, I had no clue that people willingly used the "only allow apps from the app store and 'identified developers'" setting.)

But what if you want to remote play with your computer at work?

Get back to work.

Yeah, let's just move on to Win10.

You guys were right, its running fine on my AMD A6 5200

Also whats the difference between connecting via internet and manually?? Will one offer a better connection?

Just tried (didn't touch default settings) and there's a bit of delay between the time I press a button and the time the action takes place, maybe it's because my PC is on WiFi.

Edit: just so you know, image quality is a bit shitty because default setting is on 540p

Perhaps someone will run a task-manager to see how CPU intensive it really is.

Wait, what exactly is this for?
So you can play your PS4 on your PC, is that right?? What's the benefit of this exactly? Or am I missing something..

Default setting is 30 fps. If you change it to 60 fps it should halve your perceived input lag.

Playing PS4 when your TV/screen is being used for something else.
Playing in a different room than where you have your PS4.
Playing when you're not home.

The benefit is you can access your PS4 from any Windows or Mac computer remotely as long as you have a DS4 handy. Or simply across the local network, if you want it in a window while you do other things on a computer or while someone's using the TV or something like that.

Off topic, but I don't understand this mentality. You don't want better performance? You can turn off all the location stuff, and everything is in the same place it was in W7. Hell, the Power User menu alone (win+x) makes Windows 8+ worth it.

Come on Windows 7 users, it's time to stop complaining. You have two other operating systems to choose from. And yes, after almost 7 years, you cannot be surprised your OS is not supported.

it works anywhere. over the internet.

Clearly I WAS missing something... I didn't realise it was over the internet too.
Too bad our Internet in Australia is still stuck in 1999.
