They had a press conference prior to the KCON show and for some reason I felt they didn't want the J-line girls to speak all that much. There was a moment that Momo started speaking and then she and Jihyo exchanged looks and it was like "oops.. I don't think I should be talking so much." Most of the talk was lead by Jihyo and there was a Japanese translator for her.

I'm going to assume because they are still in their Korean promotions mode, and they have not officially started their Japanese promotions yet.
Maybe they are avoiding J-line stealing the show? They are probably getting more attention by default, so they are maybe trying to showcase the other girls now.

I'm assuming that their Japanese debut will be all out on the three of them, though.

I don't really keep up with her but I do know that she was involved in a plagiarism scandal or whatever and didn't own up to it.

Was it really bad that the public threw her under the bus?

Not throwing her under the bus at T-ara levels, but maybe more Kara levels.

And lose the freshness and vocal power by leaving out Jihyo ?

Yeah sounds like a hilariously bad idea. Twice are already lacking in the vocal department and he wants to remove the main vocalist and a lead vocalist?

It can work. Just make it more hip hop (Dahyun and Chaeyoung) and performance oriented (Momo and Mina). Let Sana and Nayeon can take care of the vocals.

The Idolm@ster Gets Live-Action South Korean Show

Bandai Namco Entertainment announced on Friday that it will launch a South Korea-based live-action show based on The IDOLM@STER franchise. The show is tentatively titled The IDOLM@STER.KR, and its broadcast timeframe has not been set yet.

The show will begin casting auditions for 15 idols in mid-May, and Interactive Media Mix, Inc. will handle the planning and production of the series. The show will follow the tone of previous works, and will once again center on a new group of idols' growth, performances, and mutual friendships. However, the story will be set in South Korea, and will follow the country's production and entertainment industry. The characters from the games will not appear in the show.

Speaking of which, I.O.I's reality show "Standby I.O.I" begins April 22nd and here's an image from MV shooting

Sports concepts so hot right now.

I haven't posted in weeks and now everyone is saying they actually like Hyoyeon. She's gonna be topping bias lists within the next decade.

Also real talk Seohyun is by far the best member of SNSD, she's easily the most well rounded. That Sunny 2013 plummet is still hilarious though, I'd suppressed all memories of her tragic hair during IGAB.

Seohyun will get to number 1 one day in the neogaf rankings!!

Tiffany falling like a rock still warms my heart.

also could their popularity be based on their ethnicity?
like I mean, I have always thought that Sooyoung seemed part japanese, and Hyoyeon might be Mongolian/Chinese?

also at the beginning of lion heart you get an awful amount of ass/crotch from Tiffany I noticed

THE COED GROUP DREAM IS REAL:

K타이거즈 (K-Tigers) - 영웅 (Mozaix Mix) MV
The dancing is amazing. Not sure about the song though.

K타이거즈 (K-Tigers) - 손날치기 MV
This is amazing. Crayon poop better watch out.
______________

DSP has no idea what to do with Cheakyung and Shiyoon, so they just put them performing in the street Pick me up, Into The New World and a Rainbow song I forgot about.

I'm expecting them making Puretty 2 with Somin and Youngji, but call it Kara, just to piss as much fans as possible.

also could their popularity be based on their ethnicity?
That change of ethnicity of Tiffany over the course of 3 years.

Sooyoung is there because of how unhealthily thin she has been since forever.
Hyoyeon is there because most of the people of this community find her ugly.

Visuals play a big role, as evidenced by Sunny decline caused by the RonaldMcDonaldgate

Yeah, that chart is just based on a GAF member poll. GAF really does not represent kpop fandom as a whole, at all.

I joke about this a lot, but K-pop is for girls. Most of us here are not girls.

Idolm@ster.KR sounds legit, I would at least watch the first episode of that. We were talking elsewhere, wondering about when AKB would finally infiltrate Korea as they seem to be making bases everywhere else around there.

Edit: Kirby I get that you're catching up, but don't sleep on live performances (SNSD or otherwise). Live performances of singles often have variations and choreography you wouldn't see in the music video, so if you do find a song you like in particular that has a MV, you can bet you'll find a lot of live versions. Also, not every song gets a music video, so if you're only lookin at officially released MVs you'll be missing some good stuff

Maybe after the Tzuyupocalype they want as much plausible deniability on any accidental offenses as possible.

On episode 12 of Descendants of the Sun. This is definitely Secret Garden writer-style superhit, not worthy of mention alongside You Who Came From THe Stars. Dumb in so many ways, and the two leads don't have any of the charisma of Cheon Song-yi, and there's none of the emotional payoffs we got from that show. Even though it was some over dramatic sci fi love story it felt more grounded in true human experience than DotS.

DotS also has lots of bad english-language actors, bad action scenes, etc. Plus for Greek location shooting.

Anyway, it's not good, but I'm watching it through the end so obviously I can see why people like it. It's pretty easy to follow and a little exotic because of the setting. Kim Ji Won looks GREAT in uniform and the two 2nd leads are probably more interesting than the mains.

Takeshima is Japanese territory.

For it to be Tzuyu-like Momo would have to call it 'dokdo' on KCON Japan stage or something.

English in kdrama is always terrible I have to wonder if they just grab random white people and like they are german or russian or if they say it normally the first time and the director is like "no! say it like this so we can understand" so it comes off super stilted with weird syllabication.

Many of them are pretty bad or at least waste whatever good high concept idea they start out with quickly.

There are good kdrama shows that are 'serious' productions in the way we understand 'quality television' through the lens of the last decade's critically acclaimed western drama series -- like Signal -- and then there are good kdramas that are still at heart kdramas - goofy, over the top, sentimental, but that manage to have their unique nature be a strength (not a weakness like the k dramas that are just dumb, loud and obnoxious) - and still communicate real emotions, humanity, comedy - like You Who Came From the Stars. With plenty of stuff in between like the Reply series.

But really, the GOAT
