My only worry with Shinobi's wording is it seems to be more light hearted than what I thought it would be. I thought this will be a serious open world horror game in the vein of Silent Hill :(

Also I thought Shinobi had mentioned a few years back it was not zombie related. I hope that continues to be the case.

Wasn't there something similar to this announced a couple of years ago and the studio had to close? Crap, I can't get it together, but I think it was a pre-rendered scene with someone riding a motorcycle and killing monsters or something like that.

I could also remember it completely wrong, though. Whatever, can't wait for E3 to happen.

Yeah I was hoping this was gonna be legit open world survival horror, and that description doesn't sound like it is. Maybe they changed the project a bit internally from what they originally planned. This sounds a lot more Mad Max style, which is a bummer. I really wanted a strong horror vibe from this, but oh well it happens.

As I mentioned, this concept goes as far back as PS2/Xbox/GCN generation, as Treyarch was working on an open world zombie game called Dead Rush that had a huge emphasis on vehicles and a bit of a survival element tied to needing gas for them. For reasons still unknown, that game was cancelled very shortly after it was announced.

It's not like goofy zombie games are the norm. Dead Rising and Lollipop Chainsaw are about it, unless you want to stretch things out to include something like PvZ.

imo this is the perfect type of tease because you have wildly different expectations and thoughts about what this game is. Now Bend has to deliver the goods.

Yep, I won't mind if the game has a sense of humor and isn't dead serious like TLOU, but I don't want to play a meme version of DmC x Mad Max neither.

Yeah, I believe he did say something like that. I remember something about dark comedy too.

There's really nothing about that original claim that wouldn't fit here. Plenty of open world titles are heavily action-focused and third-person.

Why on earth are some people complaining the new game will have zombies in it?

IIRC there has never been an open world zombie game with a focus on bikes and metal. The only thing that comes even remotely close is DayZ. It had a lot of vehicles also.
On paper this sounds super fresh and not just your run-of-the-mill zombie clone.

My only concern is if the PS4's cpu will be able to handle large amounts of enemies. We saw with Assasins's Creed: Unity and Dead Rising 3 on the xbone that large numbers of characters on screen can really make the current consoles buckle. Hopefully Sony Bend are smarter than Ubisoft and Capcom,

I'm a huge Sony Bend fan since the first Syphon Filter hit the PSX, but....

... "Dead Don't Ride" sounds terrible.
And "Metal & Bikes"? What is this? I thought we were getting a hard survival horror game.
Bikes? Ugh...... :/

Mad Max was collectible heaven but I loved that game. They completely nailed Mad Max and made one of the most beautiful post apocalyptic wastelands I've ever run about in.

I really hope this is good as I love Sony Bend. Syphon Filter being one of my favourite series ever.

Oh sure. It is just me and that basic description just made me think Uncharted. I like that it actually sounds like something a bit different.

Not sure how actual open world horror would work... those types of experience need to be really tightly hand crafted.

The GOW4 concept art leak was unrelated to his tease. That was someone digging in a concept artists website. His tweet and this one seems more like a tease that the dev's shared with him to tease with.
