Ok where can infind the whole bundle for cheap?

The last time the entire collection was on sale was 7 months ago via Humble which could have been grabbed for $7.50 however it included everything except the Sonic games and Toejam & Earl.

https://isthereanydeal.com/#/page:game/price?plain=segagenesisclassicscollection

Considering such a long time has passed without a deal happening I'd say there is a reasonably probability it could go on sale again for the upcoming Steam summer sale, or another Humble deal again.

You can sign up with that website you can add the bundle to an alert list and it will send you an email when it is on sale. Enhanced Steam also does the same thing too.

Sorry. Yeah I grabbed the entire collection back in 2013 for $10.

I got everything except Toejam and Earl and Mean Bean Machine.

Although my biggest concern right now is I already have modded my Sega Genesis Classics to add a few games not included in the collection.

Notably Monster World 4, Castlevania Bloodlines, Rocket Knight Adventures, and Crusader of Centy, and I replaced the rom of Phantasy Star IV with a fixed version that corrects the level 99 bug.

I don't mind this new update happening, but if it makes it so my previous mods no longer work, I'd hope the new modding api for the collection still remains equally accommodating. Especially since this allows users have a digital library experience with digital boxes, digital manuals, etc.

Maybe the art assets are also customizable and people can eventually add their own custom boxarts to be displayed in the virtual library.

So Sega, now that you're putting a little more love into PC... How about some Panzer Dragoon goodness?.... I can wait.

Man, I would pay a lot of money for an Orta port on Steam.

Why is the modding part important? [serious question]

Rom hacks or fan translations of some region specific Genesis games, and possible library expansion beyond the default Genesis Classics available.

Sega supporting this in a official capacity is a good thing.

If the clusterfuck around paid mods is worked out it could be a huge boon for fan translation projects in particular. It is a shitload of work, with a high rate of burnout, for no more than internet esteem and glory. I'd be totally willing to throw a few bucks at work like this and help ease the burden.

Would be dependent on Sega making certain games available, but they look to be receptive to this sort of thing.

So the Hub update is live and it's a nightmare already. Navigating the menu/hub is near impossible with an XB1 controller. For me it constantly wants to move the camera to the left and using the D-Pad if I get to a menu via mouse, left/right are up/down and up/down just don't work. Even unplugging my controller the camera still hesitates to move with the mouse.

Others are reporting saves deleted, a lot of lag (filters make it worse), Steam overlay is disabled, controllers that use Dinput instead of Xinput are not working at all.

Seems a mess using a directinput controller unfortunately. Using my Saturn pad the d-pad works and certain buttons work but the assignments are all over the place and the input remapping seems broken. It won't register any changes.

Edit: Ok I see what's happening now. reassigning input works in the emulation but not for the menu. This means I'm stuck with my Y button being the assigned A button amongst other things.

Digging around in the files and it looks like this thing runs on Unity.

Pretty sure Unity is the issue here, as I had this problem with Firewatch and an Xbone controller at launch.

I guess this was to be expected, but it doesn't look like there's any support for adding your own backups, so in order to play ROM hacks you're going to need to own the respective games on Steam.

Is it some ongoing bug within Unity that is causing these across multiple games? I cannot fathom this is all coincidental and unnoticed by devs until after it launches.

Pretty neat. Way better then how this package used to be.

Would be a nice touch if they added region box art.

Man, this is crazy.

The "new emulation" is intriguing. The old emulator would crash pretty often on my machine, and the interface was terrible.

Good on SEGA - where the hell did this come from?

The interface is really fucking cool, though I can't comment on the emulation improvements. Hope they patch in the next week or so with more thorough controller support and Steam overlay access.

The SEGA Genesis Classic Collection (40 non-Sonic titles) is $10.55 on Steam through 5/1!
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/7825

There's also a 'SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics Pack 5' on sale for $2.55 which includes 10 games not included in the above bundle, including Phantasy Star 2-4, Dynamite Headdy, Streets of Rage 3, and more!
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/14445/

I only have the Sonic games on Steam thus far so I'm totally gonna grab both bundles :)

Are there any well known good rom mods for phantasy star IV? Love the game but would like to maybe try it with faster leveling or some other enhancements

Uh

Someone just straight-up put a licensed game in the Steam Workshop

I'm not going to say which one or link to it because distributing ROMs is illegal here but it should not be hard to find

I wonder how quickly Sega will crack down on this stuff

Wow, you were right, this will need some major moderation to keep it completely legit, not complaining though.

Someone needs to mod in Greendog: The Beached Surfer Dude

yeah I was wondering how this would be prevented day one.

I'm assuming and hoping that Sega understood that this will be an issue and will be fine with moderating the workshop.

Can someone try Alien Soldier and tell me if it's still 50hz? Maybe there are options now?

Worst case scenario I'm sure it could simply be modded to the Japanese version.

From what I've read on the Steam Community, it sounds like you can just straight up upload ROMs to the Steam workshop without any sort of validation which seems fucking bonkers to me. This needs to be policed pretty heavily or people are just gonna upload the entire Genesis library to steam workshop.

Yikes. This is why we can't have nice things... Surely SEGA saw this coming though, and they're ready to moderate as needed. It would be disappointing if this discouraged them from doing something like this again. It's one of the coolest things a game publisher has done in a while.

Hand out Steam community-wide bans for that and I wonder how often people will do it. Making a new account to upload more ROMs would require buying a Genesis game each time, right?

so if you have the amazon pack you can't import them to the new launcher?
This is my problem as well. I made the mistake of buying the DRM free version of the pack back in 2013. They appear in the simple launcher, but not in the newest version.

They'll slowly get around to it I suspect, for the time being best to avoid such things and just go with what is legally available.

That is cool. Man the Genesis had so many great games. I could browse the video rental store for hours until I brought home the 'right one', lol.

Wait, the Amazon pack won't import to the new launcher? Even though I activated on Steam? What sense does that make?

Does that mean I have to re-buy these games to use the new features?

They made it sound like they are going to be super lax on this stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if someone goes and uploads all the regional variants of the supported games.

I get home, get super excited from seeing this updated, and... The default resolution is apparently some complete nonsense (480x960 or something, vertical) and fullscreen on the wrong monitor. This prevents me from seeing what my options are in the Room Settings to change it. Presuming I can get there, which I sometimes can, due to navigation using an Xbox controller being more or less a completely crapshoot.

I know this was a free update and all but... Man, it's rough.

I like the new UI, but I was kinda hoping for a bit more interactivity. right now it's a static room with "play", "select" and "options" buttons, pretty much.

I wanna read the Sonic comics on the floor. ;_;

EDIT: Oh, and you can't navigate through the Cart box display with WASD or the Arrow keys. mouse only. wtf, Sega/D3T?

EDIT 2: No "Open workshop" button from within the mods menu?! The mini launcher's more efective.. and where's mah VR support? :)

If a fake Arcade game that consists of nothing but the cabinet and a room for it to sit in, programmed by one guy, can have full 360 degree VR support and dozens of doodads to pick up and look at, why can't This 90's Sega Fan bedroom?

EDIT 3: I will say one thing, the Rom Hacks are nuts. to the point where someone's already replaced Sonic 1 with Contra: Hard Corps. (download it now before it goes :) ) Looks like they've already managed to fool the Emulator to run just about anything :)

Games still aren't scaled properly, with pixels being unevenly sized. Disappointing. Hope they fix this.

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with the way the games are displayed - there's a pretty intense curve (I can deal with some curvature, but not that much), and you can only choose from two filters, both of which look pretty bad - HQ2x and a weird scanline filter that also washes out the colors.

That being said, this is a really cool idea and I hope they keep working on it.

Kinda off-topic but there is a new entry named "Sonic The Hedgehog"

https://steamdb.info/app/467020/

And its not the one of this collection:

https://steamdb.info/app/71113/

Not confirming anything but maybe its the taxman port? Or sega is porting 2006 or its nothing...

Yeah only in some resolutions like windowed 1024 x 768, they should update with more options.
