For some reason Adblock Plus was disabled when I started Chrome just now. Oh god did I ever take it for granted! I couldn't believe the amount of ads on the NeoGAF homepage. I couldn't click around anywhere safely without bringing up an ad. It's insane!

A lot of the Internet content you enjoy and take for granted are supported by ads and wouldn't exist without them.

Better yet, have you been to some streaming sites where it asks you to turn off adblock to watch their video, and when you do, it opens up 2-3 new tabs/windows of hot garbage?

I mean if you use adblock that's fine I do too, if you do it on neogaf that's on your conscious but outright admitting you do to everyone doesn't end well or at least makes you out to be a dick.

Yea, same. I don't have any adblock installed. Don't see the big deal. I never feel like I'm bombarded with ads.

Are people forgetting the pop-up days?

GAF is normally fine, I only ever get the two banners at top and bottom. But then, I never access stuff through the frontpage, I've seen it be a bit worse there

I also don't want to get attached to browsing without ads. Seems unfair to content producers.

You use adblock plus? uBlock Origin is superior. Don't ad block gaf tho u jerk :( this is why we can't have nice things.

Where do you visit then?

I remove my adblocker for here (I never go on the front page) and Perfectly Nintendo. Nowhere else.

It's not illegal to block ads so it's only a cost if you wish to subject yourself to it.

That said I wish Adblock came with a whitelist instead of a blacklist by default

There Is a thread about it the mobile ads before weren't doing shit so Evil is testing out these new ads, more and more people are using adblock for neogaf so he's trying to find ways to pay the bills.

I have never once used adblock. I don't click on stupid shit and I don't return to websites with horrible ads unless they are neogaf or thepiratebay.

Has anyone ever been banned for stating they use AdBlock on GAF? People mention it all the time like its a thing... I've never actually seen it happen my whole 3 years on GAF.

Also, never use AdBlockers on any of my devices. As annoying as ads are, gotta support content creators. If I'm on their site, or their providing a service to me, who am I to say "No you don't get to monetize."

I stopped using adblock a long time ago. I don't really need it since all the sites I visit don't have obstructive ads. Also using adblock on sites who depend on ads (unfortunately) is a pretty dick move unless the ads are awfully intrusive.

GAF, YouTube, giant bomb (premium, no ads), Reddit, Twitter, tumblr, Facebook, pitchfork, kotaku (though I may stop, their ads are bad), polygon and so on.

That's what I'm thinking too. I tend to use adblock on any site that has intrusive ads and whitelist specific sites like NeoGAF. Adblock and NoScript are amazing to have on porn sites.

I've never found a need to use Adblock Plus, personally, I don't go into the depths of the internet that are quite that inundated with ads for it to be necessary.
