Sure, but how many other announced games do they have to show except pokemon and paper mario? We knew that Zelda would be the only playable game on the showfloor, but that didn't mean they wouldn't release trailers and new info for other games. But apparently they really show Zelda and only Zelda.
It's quite weird, since they still have quite a few 3DS games to be released this year.
"If you don't like Zelda, then fuck off!" - Nintendo at E3 2016
It looks like Nintendo is either woefully unprepared or it's waving the white flag on 2016. Feels like a rudderless ship over there.
No Direct? Just one game for all of E3? Wow, they really must be hurting.
This feels like something purely for Nintendo fans. I can't understand why they're even attending E3 this year otherwise.
They're going to be pushing the NX version much, much harder than the Wii U game later this year.
I disagree. Nobody really gives a shit about e3 other than Press and enthusiasts like us, both of which are well connected enough to see their independent event later in the year anyways, and even know exactly why they skipped out on e3. Just Zelda is still better than the year we got Wii sports resort
This is not a healthy Nintendo. NX hopefuls should be worried.

If this means launch won't just be New Super Nabbit Nx, Lego Dimensions Nx and Rayman Spin-off Nx, then its probably for the best.
Man, the response everywhere to this is going to be fierce. Someone should get the tissues, pitchforks, and popcorn ready!
Aren't all press conferences or digital events or whatever pretty much just for fans and the press?

Eh they'll earn it all back through a NX reveal event. They're wanting to stand out and E3 isn't the place to do it with so many competing companies being there. Smart move, this way the NX will get total attention when it's shown.
Hyped for zelda news.
Not even remotely the same thing.Should EA fans be too, because they skip E3 for their own event? Nintendo would've had a big NX event at E3.. but they've moved it to the fall. What's the difference?
That makes the situation even more pathetic then.
Konami
If it's not ready then it's not ready. How do you come up with your "epic" hyperbole? RelaxNX and it's development must be a disaster of epic proportions. There is literally no defense for having no E3 presence.
Snail mail.

How can you do this? I wish I had the strength
The system is coming out in less than a year and they have nothing to show. This actually makes a lot more sense to me than the original perception, which was that Nintendo was going to have the same presence they've had in the past, but that it would be nearly all Zelda. This more accurately reflects the apparent reality that Nintendo have nothing to show (or nothing they want to show) until the NX announcement.
I'm not sure that's true- I know it's anecdotal but I have at least 10 friends who don't frequent boards or other sites (besides like IGN) who know very well what E3 is and watch E3 streams. It's become a fairly mainstream event, regardless of how long left it has to live.
This tells me two possible things.
1. Nintendo is eventually going to drop E3 for good or just do the bare min to keep their booth space.
2. It looks more and more like there will be a big NX event after E3 similar to how Sony and Microsoft had their events for the PS4 and XBO. Similar to how EA is having it's own event right before E3. How Bethseda just has it's event and then shows up at presentations of other shows.
This doesn't hurt Nintendo I think in the end. Let's not get it twisted. This is really another nail in the coffin for E3 itself.
