Ratchet & Clank PS4 is the fastest selling game to date in the series

I can't remember much of R&C on ps2, but this game controls and runs beautifully for a 30fps title. It's a joy to play.
The second I started the game I could tell immediately it wasn't as smooth as the original bunch, but it's still runs perfectly fine and is very good

I think it is great Insomniac finally has a successful launch of a big title again. The time trilogy on the PS3 is one of my favourite gaming trilogies, probably. Looking forward to playing this! Going for this one and will buy UC4 later. Pricepoint was a great idea as well.

(don't get me wrong, TLOU and UC2 are my 2nd and 3d favourite games of all time and I am hyped. as. shit. for UC4, but I often start things after the huge hype to keep my own expectations in check).

Yeah, I think nobody is arguing (sub)60 fps isn't better than 30 fps. But 30 done well is good for most people. Unfortunately a lot of 30 games of the past ran far from it, with inconsisent framerates and a lack of motion blur. I think this added a lot towards the 30 fear/hatred. PS3 TLOU ran at something like 20-25 fps a lot of the time, and is labelled as 30 fps, for example. On a positive note this gen, Driveclub, The Order, Batman, and even Infamous look way smoother than a lot of other PS4 30 fps games, such as the Witcher 3 (which mostly runs 30). I feel a lot of devs do aim for better framerates now. Anyways, good to hear it runs well. It looks amazing.

Who owns the Crash Bandicoot IP? Just wondering, cuz if it's Activision, there's no way they're going to let Sony revive the game without taking a big slice of the pie, and there's a fairly large pool of games that could be revived...

Great game well deserved. Only thing I didn't really enjoy was the
stealthy
section later on. But the cards and upgrades were great and graphically amazing at times.

I've only played a few hours of it so far but I'd happily pay twice the price I paid. Great little game.

The flooding sewer timer bit was annoying as fuck on hard but otherwise..

Sony should take advantage of this while it lasts and bring back Sly, Crash and Medievil while they have such a solid base that a R&C game is able to sell a lot. And PASBR 2 with a different name please. And Syphon Filter.

Playing the Challenge Mode now and it's even more fun than the first playthrough. They deserve all the success.

I guess with the movie being panned so hard, the game being so well received is a nice consolation prize.
I don't think this is the consolation prize. Maybe the cake without the icing (which the movie being well received would have made). Analogies.

For what little it's worth, I felt like the movie was a fun time and worth watching as a fan of the game.

I think ideally I would say beat the game once, watch the movie, then play Challenge mode to see the story again.

Saw it and Green Room (which was fantastic, by the way), and it was a good evening :)

That's a much better way to look at it. This was always going to be the main event for me, anyway. Still wish they could have both been great, though.

Yup yup I had a freaking blast on my Challenge Mode playthrough, even more so than the first run cause I was a walking tank at this point. The Ryno Extreme at level 10 is a fucking monster; I loooove that gun and it's awesome sound design as well(music that kicks in the background once you unleash)!

Well deserved. Can't not wait for the next one!

So much this!

Just need to finish leveling up the GOATinator, RYNO, and Deathblades... and almost at the end of the Challenge Mode which I am loving just as much, if not more than the first play-through, then the Plat. Messing with the filters and visual additions as well, which I normally do not do in games. They are so well done.

I think this might be the best challenge mode I've experienced in a Ratchet game. It's just so over the top, and the balancing/progression is spot-on.

There should be a second game that expand upon this one (the flaws it had, like the ones being mentioned). Also, cut all ties with the movie.

I switched to an alt account to ditch my embarrassing tag so I could be an embarrassing Naughty Dog fanboy in peace. Ask me anything!
The core gameplay is so much fun. There are few things better in this world than sucking up all them bolts. Dat sound..... This is without a doubt one of the funnest games I have had the privilege of playing this gen.

Why is this funny? I too am waiting for sale since I know I don't even have time to really play it.

How that funny? I am waiting to get the game on sale as I know that it will be cheaper in a month time.

Saving money is no joke.

You two don't get it. When someone spends 60$ for one game ( critically not acclaimed ) just before R&C release and that person says : I will buy R&C for sure. Will wait for some sale. R&C is a great game. But hey, i will wait for some sale. That's funny.

Such a fantastic game that came with a great price, which allowed me to convince a few of my friends to try the series out. All my friends liked it that played it, which surprised me since they're the typical Madden/GTA/NBA/COD gamer.

I really want a sequel so much!

This is the first ratchet and clank game i've played. I bloody love it! Reminds me of the good old days of mindless gaming.

As the games are on sale at the min I'm wondering which ones are worth buying and which (if any) are to be avoided?

Any advice will be appreciated.

will be interesting to see what insomniac does after this, I am hoping for them to see that the games they make for playstation will always sell the best and therefore gravitate to making games for that platform more and more.

If you liked this one and want to jump into some more contemporary R&C titles (the ones that look and feel similar to what you just enjoyed), try out A Crack in Time and Into the Nexus. Both of those are good games, while simultaneously not burning you out on the series.

I'd like a Capitan Todd Treasure Tracker style Clank puzzle game spin off.

I can imagine a game focusing solely on puzzles would be pretty cool. Also relatively cheap to make?

3 weeks in a row is super impressive for such a franchise, though next week the game will have to step away from that spot ;)

I always use motion smoothing on my tv in 30fps games and it solves the problem of it being less smooth. It looks like a 60fps game now and amazing. will do the same for uncharted 4 too can't wait.

Yes it may introduce slightly extra lag and interlacing but it's barely noticeable and a good trade off for a smoother experience.

If there was a ranking of posts sorted by wrongness, yours would be at the top.

All that motion flow and postprocessing nonsense kills the feel of the controls and butchers the original image. It's never worth it.

Yes! Ratchet & Clank deserved all the praise it got: Amazing graphics and good old fashioned platforming goodness.

The healthy sales must mean production on a new Ratchet & Clank is already getting started up. Can't wait for 2018-2019 when Insomniac can have a new Ratchet game ready!

Got this gifted and it's being a fun ride so far. My first time with a R&C game and I'm loving it. Weapons are a lot of fun to use.

I would add... Basically all of them, the PS3 HD Collection, Gladiator, Tools Of Destruction, Quest For Booty (could be skipped), Crack In Time and Into The Nexus.

Since most are on sale, you can pick them all up and then just pace yourself, perhaps play one game inbeteeen other titles.

The original has aged, there is no strafing, but if you can get past it, you can the slight differences between the original and this new one... Otherwise move straight into Going Commando

Unlikely to happen, but in the individual side of things, if it beats a DOOM SKU and places 2nd!!! Doom is doomed!!!!
