Watch Dogs 2 Trailer Leaks on Twitch

I love 'Mr. Robot,' because it's genuine and well-written with great character development.

Ubisoft trying to rip it off and mix it with 'Now You See Me' for Watch_Dogs 2 is not genuine at all, the first game wasn't well-written, and the character development was just the typical fodder.

This is a sorry excuse for a sequel. Thought maybe this IP could have potential, but they've completely lost me.

Looks like a game about a bunch of student hacktivists, wouldn't be surprised if there's some We Are Anonymous bs in there too. The original POI rip off was more palatable.

Yes. The complete shift away from Pierce is obviously a reaction to the internet outcry we get for this kind of thing.

In response Ubi are giving us millennial v-for-vendetta anonymous types that they think we will identify more with.

I actually enjoyed that the game was about being a vigilante in the truest sense of the term and playing a guy with grey morality going after guys who were worse and unraveling a bigger picture. I know a lot of people didn't like him, but this doesn't feel like an upgrade to me in anyway.

"Don't like Aiden? Now you can play as someone just like *you*"
Aiden Pearce is one of the worst video game protagonists I've ever played complete with awful character logic and motivations. Devoid of personality and unrelatable on several levels. I wouldn't touch this game if I was going to have to play 30 hours with someone like that again.

Also, how do you have such insight in to the new main character? Is there some backstory I missed in this chaotically edited 30 second teaser or are you just going by his appearance and inferring what you want from there?

I mean..... fucking hipsters, right?

Seems to me there is just a general hate towards a character that looks like someone who was/is probably popular in Highschool....

Not gonna lie Glam, Max was ok because being partially nerdy offset the hipsterism. Chloe and her constant guilt tripping bullshit just got on my nerves.

this game is coming out in November which means first submission is probably 3-3.5 months away tops, content lock has probably already happened or about to happen so they can focus on bug fixing, optimization, and polish.

And there's not a single gameplay shot in that video.

Did you all forget that E3 is next week, and predictibly they're going to reveal gameplay then? This is literally how it always goes. How is this not obvious to every person in this thread?

I have no idea what Twitter outrage is, but if it's people saying "I don't like how this looks", which is what most people on here are saying, then I don't see the problem
It's my shorthand for kneejerk, me too reactions that usually blow up to memetic proportions.

It didn't necessarily appeal to me, but it didn't look like something I would completely write off just because of the character and tone of it.

I don't like the Watch_Dogs character or the Life is Strange characters. Hell, I actively avoided LiS because of the characters and world being so cringe-worthy in terms of presentation.

Does the Watch_Dogs guy really look like he'd be popular in high school as well? I think the whole image screams 'social outcast'.

I was more upset that I killed Lisa, that final decision was one of the easiest of the lot.

Edit: Also, the iconic memes weren't funny when WD came out, they weren't funny six months after and they aren't funny now. If you think they are, then you are closer in representation to this new hacker protagonist than you realise.

Relax man.

People hated the boring, stiff, milquetoast character pretty universally.

Ubisoft arrived on what they arrived on for Watchdogs 2 all on their own. That's all their own decisions. Hopefully they went full 180 degrees on the quality of the game for this one because the first game was fucking mediocre and ran like ass.

I don't know if the "iconic" memes were funny, but Ubi certainly deserved to be made fun of/mocked openly for it.

I haven't seen any actual gameplay or cutscenes, so it remains to be seen what the protagonist is actually like. I want to have my conception of Ubisoft changed...but only Ubisoft can do that by making great games again.

Getting mad at people on the internet for knee-jerk reactions is a waste of energy. Accept it as memeing and move on.

If they actually upped their game and full assed it this time, the memeing masses will have no choice but to shut up or change their tune. Until then...internet gonna internet.

HATED Lis - but because of the writing.

Don´t write off (haha!) the new WD protag because of the glasses he wears.

My problem is more that people for some reason call him "hipster".

Where are the Sailor tattoos? Where is the man-bun? Where is the fucking beard?

He looks like EVERY 20something I see on the streets to me.

While I agree some people are overreacting, I think the problem alot of people are having is just the tone of it. Doesn't mean they wrote the game off, they just have a bad first impression.

I think the sensible people will wait for gameplay

The song was lame, but there seems to be an emphasis on parkour and team-based stuff. If so, I'm game. Anything will be better than Watch_Dawgs 1.

That trailer is just bad, though. Like, really bad.

You actively avoided it but know the characters and world are 'cringe-worthy'? How?

I understand not everyone is going to like or enjoy something like LiS but a fairly true to life depiction of teenagers in the Pacific Northwest doesn't really do anything that is 'cringe-worthy' unless you're one of the many who have now use 'cringe' for anything they personally just find unappealing.

I must have missed something. How are people making these grand proclamations about the plot/tone/characters/source inspiration? We're still on this 30 second teaser right? Nothing else has been released?

Definitely one of those annoying youtube/twitch ads in which the music will get stuck in your head.

I want to see gameplay though.

Seems like you're being obtuse on purpose, which is weird. But whatever.

There's a difference between a teenage girl being a hipster and your dad being a hipster.
It's basically the hellofellowkids.gif again.

And personally I don't think Aiden is a hipster, but I do think he dresses really stupid.

Trailer didn't seem too bad, but i watched it mute at work.

Hope we see gameplay. I'm digging the parkour potential.

I'm pretty much immune to cringe these days, been playing too many jrpgs, just hope the protagonist is more likeable than W_D1. should be easy.

I like that we're getting something different in appearance than 'generic grizzled videogame guy'. Aiden Pearce was just so average and interchangeable with other protagonists, carrying himself like a Navy SEAL while he was a hacker/social engineer first and foremost.

Yes, the design looks goofy at first glance - but it's a unique look and maybe it fits the character of the hero really well... we just don't know yet.

If gamers fly off the handle over this, we'll only get more dark-haired muscled white guys with gruff voices. Can we at least appreciate Ubisoft's desire to change things up and see how it plays out?

I have no intention of trying to convince anyone that he was a heroic figure of any kind (because he was never written or designed to be) and that's exactly what I enjoyed about him. Playing as an anti-hero "lesser of two evils" semi-broken man is exactly what made him different and interesting to me. There isn't anything else that was really doing that (minus GTA and it's less than serious take on criminality).

His guilt / anger over what happened to his niece and his need to get revenge, (even as it causes him him to distance him self from his remaining family) is exactly what was enjoyable. I'm not going to say it's Greek tragedy tier and that's fine because it's a video game. As I already said, being a vigilante in the truest sense of the term (instead of the batman, I'm still actually a hero and don't techincally kill people variety) was different and enjoyable to play.

If it's not for you or anyone else that's fine. You have a right to that and Ubi has a right to respond to the negative sentiment, which they did, and that's why we have why we have a completely new tone and protagonist.

I don't think this looks so bad, reminds me of a cross between Hackers and Point Break. I mean, it's not exactly the sort of thing that I was hoping for but I'll settle for an over the top 90s-esque action film aesthetic over the dreary, gritty, pseudo-realistic crap we get from far too many games companies nowadays.

But again, this is all based on a 30 second video so I could be barking completely up the wrong tree.

Man lots of opinions over this silly teaser.

1. People should probably stop writing the game off over that pointless teaser. Let's wait for some real gameplay next week.

2. The main character's appearance is, overall, fine. Not great, but it works. Go to any major west coast city and guess what you'll find? This style everywhere. We also had some customization options in the first Watch_Dogs, so for all we know it could be more in depth this time around, so you might not have to look like that. Again, let's wait and see.

I liked the first game, so I am glad to see a second one coming along. Don't get me wrong, Aiden was a terrible main character, the "magical" hacking was beyond silly, and all that. But they did have some neat parts to the game, like breaking into other people's games, and overall I had fun with it. I really enjoy the rise in "modern cyberpunk" settings lately with things like Mr Robot, Mirrors Edge, and Watch_Dogs, that are going beyond the 80s projection of neon and punk attire. So here's to hoping they do more with actual hacking and not just a magical phone.

Oh please!

Aiden taking on a Criminals, Gang Members Mafia and Fixers to find out why his Niece died. Is nothing when you have Michael taking on government agencies and private military forces just so he doesnt goto jail for all of his bank robberies

I like the new look and approach. More character interactions instead of "nameless bad guys."

I hope Ubi surprises up and the voice actor has a non descriptive voice and we can actually customize the protag.

Finally got to see the trailer. Just a message-less CGI announcement trailer.

Looks horrible.

Trailer does nothing to show what the game will or won't look like. Nothing about how it plays. Nothing about how it looks. Nothing at all.

It is just a "Watchdogs 2 is coming" message.

I don't know how anyone can draw any conclusions from that 'trailer' in either direction.
My exact thoughts. The trailer was nothing. Literally nothing. It reveals nothing. Its a small tease for the soon to be actual reveal.

Man the hate parade really don't need any excuse to come out in full force.

Chloe and max were quirky and charming. Even though chloe could be kind of awful at times. This guy just looks like a fucking douche, i know people who dress like that...and they are kinda douchey. This guy would have been in the vortex club if he was in life is strange. Chloe and max never felt like they were trying to be cool. This guy just looks like hes trying way too hard to be cool.

Modern day Sherlock Holmes here.

The ad looked bad, but I'll wait for the full reveal trailer in a couple of days.

I think this looks fucking awesome and I LIVE in the city it takes place in, meaning I will probably ignore perfectly beautiful days outside in real life to drive around this world instead. Video games!

The first Watch Dogs was a pretty, fun and really interesting open world game with a mostly insufferable protagonist and occasionally flat tone. This looks like its fixing almost everything I didn't like the first time around and doing so in a much more vibrant and weird city. San Francisco is a beautiful dystopia of neon sunsets and bizarre terrain surrounded by giant bridges, fog and a fucking Dr. Evil prison island. Add the insufferable tech douche culture and maniacal drug and street vagrant characters and you have an incredibly fascinating backdrop for an open world game about hacking, crime and gang warfare. Day one.

And man, the word "hipster" has just completely lost meaning in 2016. It is now almost exclusively used to describe "person I don't like." Reading the responses in this thread make me feel ecstatic that I still have joy in my life. This shit looks great.

He was just trying to make some money from some rich people.

Damien on the other hand found something, and refused to disconnect which is what got them caught

Hell, Aiden had nothing to do with the specific incident which caused Lena' death

Is it so hard to grasp that people can dislike the tone and the designs in the trailer? First impressions are a thing.
