Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

I think the voice in the game might be Zelda. It would be fitting if only the game's namesake talked.

Really liking the chime music briefly playing in the icy area. Reminds me of DKC.

That's a pretty effeminate shiver there...

Stop reaching. Link is a defined character, he doesn't have to have gender options.

I really hope this is from the U version of the game.

Besides the disappointing visuals (strictly technically speaking) It certainly looks interesting enough to make me consider getting a NX.

It's the Wii U version, but I wouldn't call the graphics disappointing for a massive open world game on hardware that is somewhat comparable to the PS3 and 360. Looks really solid for Wii U, and it is an open world game.

I wonder if some of the GamePad features were scaled back when the decision was made to port the game to NX as well. It's pretty obviously the slate was supposed to be a representation of the gamepad, were they previously going to have you wave the thing around and use it for aiming and such?

You are likely still able to do so, especially since the remasters have offered up the same options. I do think they are intentionally trying to show off that it works with a normal layout, so there's that.

I don't like the washed out tone, the very first trailer looked more vibrant, I hope is just a case of the time of the day being dusk and making it all look toned down, which would make sense.

That's what I was getting at. It seems like they are definitely downplaying that stuff, maybe a sign that the NX version will have a different control scheme.

Why won't they press up on the d-pad? What's that magnet thingy? I know it does things with the environment but I bet it does other things too...

Things that are worrying/disappointing me:

- The world looks very empty with not a whole lot going on.

- Pop-in.

- Another Zelda game that looks very easy.

- The stamina meter should be on the side of the screen, not right next to Link.

- The climbing looks ridiculously slow.

- No voice acting for NPC's (really annoyed with this).

Other than that it looks fairly solid. The trailer looked amazing, but the more gameplay I watch the more boring it kinda seems.

Why would they be using the NX version when it has been said repeatedly that the NX is NOT going to be at E3?

Wow, when they said they were starting from scratch they weren't kidding - this is less a OoT style Zelda game (which has been the template since the series moved to 3D) and more like a Nintendo take on The Elder Scrolls.

Elder Scrolls doesn't have that kind of interaction complexity or mechanics depth. Setting the world on fire? Chopping down trees? Climbing? Elder Scrolls is a big flat RPG content grind: kill things, accumulate exp/resources, level, repeat. IMO, it's more like Nintendo wanted to take a try at tackling 3D open world from a uniquely Nintendo perspective rather than trying to do Elder Scrolls.

It reminds me of Zelda 1: dropped straight into the game, meeting the old man at the fire, a focus on environment and object interactivity, not to mention combat. The only influence from Elder Scrolls seems limited to "it's big and open", which is not a uniquely Elder Scrolls quality.

The more I watch this the more I think this is going to be the MGSV of the Zelda series, for good or bad. It's definitely the most I've been interested in a Zelda game in a while though.

The world looks really empty and lifeless so far. The exploration also looks repetitive and quite dull. Zelda was one of the reason I bought a WII U, I hope they'll prove me wrong.

Oh. It's Breath of the Wild.

At first I thought it was Breath of the Wind and I'm like, huh, Wind Waker sequel?

So Princess Mononoke Zelda. Directly into my veins.

Lol at those saying Link is female when they have even showed him in the trailer as shirtless. I didn't see her boobs if that is so unless they are doing gender neutral Link.

Also I need this on NX. Nintendo needs to stop loving being behind the curve and have to announce the new console because as much as I love the WiiU it is done and Zelda would do better with/in Nintendo's fresh start.

All the little things. Now please showe us some meat! Some actual stuff happening...Bosses, huge enemies. Something exciting. So far it's so damn empty and directionless. I'm sure the whole game isn't like this but they've only shown the small things that distract you from...well, what exactly?
