4K TV's For Around $1000?

Are there any good 4K TV's at the $1000 price point?

I'm very confused with all of the new terminology like HDR, UHD, etc.... I'm looking for a 4K TV with minimal lag, at lest 50", and some staying power for around the $1000 price point. Does this TV exist, or am I going to have to wait a while?

Wait to buy! 4k TVs are finally dropping in price and will likely soon be priced the same as 1080p TVs. You will be able to get a monster of a TV at the $1000 price point around Black Friday.

While waiting for BF isn't a terrible idea, every time I'm quick to the gun on some of the better deals they're always gone lol. This happened to me this past one on a 4K.

I bought a 4K 65" Vizio M Series last year for close to 1000 black Friday week. I can confirm Vizio 4K is a GREAT value.

id be more worried about what kind of inputlag a 1000$ 4K TV would have considering the company would need to cheap out on lots of stuff like the CPU or the TV options (such as gamingmode)

ofc assuming you plan to play games from that TV

Vizios are your best bet. 50" Vizio P will be the best "bang for buck" at $999 due to features and picture quality but you can also get a Vizio D for the same price if you want a screen that's ~10" bigger and don't care about HDR and/or the best picture quality right now.

I'm definitely concerned with input lag. I'm thinking that I may have to wait for Black Friday 2017 to get what I want.

Vizio 4K TVs are great at input lag. Pretty much the best out of all 4K TVs (regardless of price).

As others have mentioned, the Vizio P 2016 series should suffice. You can check other TVs for input lag ratings and other features in a easy to understand format here.

Wait to buy a 4k tv. I have Sony 65x850c 4k HDR tv, and it is a great tv but I probably would have waited but I needed a new tv because I was moving in to a new house.

I bought a Vizio 55-inch M-series 4KTV two months ago for $649.99 (before taxes). Very happy with the purchase.

I've noticed quite a few places have put the M-series on clearance to make room for the P. Just keep an eye out on slickdeals.

Got my 50" Vizio 4K M series for 600$ 18ms Input lag and awesome image quality.

I really wish Vizio would release their sets in Europe.

Money's waiting right here. I've been holding off until HDR became standard, but the prices amongst competing brands here in Ireland arent great. It would be brilliant to see someone like vizio come in and disrupt things.

Got a 50 4k P series 2014 for $500. Such an amazing tv. It doesn't have HDR which is the only real bummer, but the 4k is amazing. I'll have to trade up soon for the 2016 P series.

UHD stands for Ultra High Definition. It's just another word for 4K.

HDR is a feature you want and is part of the 4K/UHD standard. Make sure your TV has it!

Are there any "dumb" models? I don't need a smart TV.

No not really. They just make them all smart now it doesn't add much to the price anymore I would imagine. And quite frankly I love having the 4k apps like netflix, vudu, am.azon right on my tv ready to go

Wow, really surprised to see that vizio is considered a good brand now. I used to think of it as Walmart trash.

This reasoning is always dumb. Working selling TVs i can tell you most of the time they make crap holiday models of tvs that are no good. Outside of that the best time to buy is usually march and april in the US at least, thats when last years models go on sale to get rid of them for the new model inventory.
Black Friday specials are also dumb, most retailers have black friday pricing usually weeks in advance, so by the time the day arrives all the good models are scarce or gone and only the cheaply made holiday ones are left.
I can also say that a number of times ive seen models drop below what they would end up going to on black friday.

Yeah, you're probably right about the added price. It just seems like I'm being redundant when I'm just going to use those apps on my console.

I was looking at the same exact set 5 minutes ago. Might wanna go larger tho.

I bought a Vizio (not 4K) 3 years ago and it's been amazing since day 1.

50" is good formy bedroom, larger for a living room I agree.

A 65" would be insane I think.

So did I until I bought one 3 years ago. It's been amazing and they've come a long way.

Coming from a Kuro and Panny I'm a fan.

I thought the same for my bedroom (it's small) and bought the 50" and now I want a 60".

You'll always want bigger. Always go the biggest you can afford.

I love my Panasonic Plasma and I have no idea what I'm gonna do for my 4K upgrade.

Considering waiting for a good Bravia 4K set to hit $1200-1400 next year. but I might want to go bigger like 65".

I bought a 70' 4k Vizio last year for $1800 from Costco (after a manufacturer rebate).

You can wait, but even the big 4k tv's are getting down there. Obviously like some others have said that a black Friday deal would be good for you.

For reference, the last TV I bought was a 50' Sony rear projection 1080p TV for 1300, so this wasn't a huge leap for me.

I used to work at Circuit City when they were still a store and sold TVs and this is what I tell people all the time. March/April is when you want to buy a new TV for cheap because of the models.

Is OLED still the next big thing? I remember hearing a lot about it a year or two ago.

Well there is something else now, kind of like OLED but not, that will probably be the next big thing because it's cheaper than OLED to make. Can't recall what though.

Man you guys are seriously overpaying.
I have a 55inch 4k LG that I paid $523 for at Walmart.

I had to check the date of this thread to make sure this was a 2016 thread
