How is this for someone who doesn't speak Japanese? Is there a localization reason to go with Hong Kong over Japanese or anything?

Pretty sure the version on the HK PSN will be completely in Japanese as well. Language barrier is really low for these kinds of games though.

I dont think there will be a localization for PS4 PDFT but don't worry, I've been playing since first PD on PSP until PDX (all Japanese version) without ability to speak Japanese.

You just need to remember menu location and functions.

Also, install google translate to your phone and do photo-translate, it will do the job...just in case

My follow up question is: does anything weird happen if I buy this on a japanese account, but primarily play on my US account? I know that sometimes DLC can be weird on those sorts of things, and since this game is primarily all DLC...

Should be perfectly fine as long as the account remains on the PS4 and it is set as the primary PS4.

You might be thinking of Vita with the DLC problems.

Hmm. I'd like to pick this up but I run into the problem of DLC. My primary account is tied with our other system for games and what not so I can't make it a primary. I mean I guess I could just go with the base game and be done with DLC. There's so much music anyway. And the pre-order is both versions right?

Uh, there are a bunch of misconceptions here.

Without DLC, you literally have only two songs. Future Sound and Colorful Tone are what comprise the vast majority of the game. The preorder is for the base game (Prelude) plus the two packs, and it will be downloaded as such. There is currently no other announced DLC.

Setting your PS4 as the Primary for an account doesn't prevent you from also setting it as the Primary for another account. If you only own one PS4, there's no reason to not set it as Primary for every single account.

... so close to pulling the trigger on Future Sound.

Seriously, reading the playlist has me all

So, sometimes you have to press multiple buttons at once? How do you press all four buttons at once on a controller?
1, it's possible they've modified the charts to make it more controller friendly and 2, there are button mapping options that make it possible is what I've gathered.

The game actually has a pretty robust button configuration mode where you can map any button to any combination of inputs:

Also note the default note skin differs from arcade a bit in that Triangle and Square appear as Up and Left arrows, respectively. I've not seen any media for PS4 Future Tone that has the Triangle and Square icons at all, actually, which worries me a bit since I'd like to use this release as a learning tool for the arcade.

Highly, highly unlikely the charts are altered considering we're dealing with over a thousand charts in this game. Most songs have four charts, some have five.

You either map X+O+Square+Triangle to one button (for example R2) or you press Up, Left, X and O (since the dpad and the corresponding facebuttons are basically the same like in the previous Diva games)

Any help on how would I buy this if I currently only have US PSN account? I would gladly create another account in other region but I need to know if there is some mumbo-jumbo involved in process. Thanks

I was watching a arcade mechanics intro video (~3:06):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f47YUe5ekcM

That showed a setting screen where it appeared as though you could configure how you want your notes displayed (arrow or icon). Though arrows look like default for square/triangle.

Only a few hours before we find out I guess.

Alright Play Asia. Send me my code already. :(

Edit: Er wait. Dur. Account stuff. Alright. I'm in. DLing. Are the themes timed as well then?

I first said I'll wait for Europe release but I lost all faith that is going to happen. So here I am with Japanese PSN card in hand (well digital code in my email) ready to get this amazing looking game!

Great OT and I am just waiting for the timer to unlock the game. Tomorrow will be fun =D

Hope the next batch of DLC songs include GUMI

Just want to say the letters from the fans are great! I felt bad though that I led an army of, essentially, Miku haters calling her worse than the other Vocaloids

Great OT. Im thinking of getting this on Singapore PSN but there's no preorder. What am I missing by not preordering? the themes only or something else as well?

It might've been already asked before, so I'm sorry if it's a repeated question: how many songs are unique to Future Tone? Songs not in Diva F, f 2 and X? Thanks!

I want to say very few. I think most of the songs here have been represented in all the other games but I never played the very first one.

There could be more than that depending on whether the particular wiki you're looking at also includes songs that originated in DIVA, DIVA 2nd, and DIVA extend. There are several songs from those three games that never made it to F and later, which is all the non-import crowd has been exposed to.

Extremely unlikely.

Oh, yeah read the original question again. 68 or so are exclusive to arcade only. If you include the songs that are pre-f/F, that's another ~70 songs or so on top of it, or 140 songs total that haven't been released officially outside Japan. Several stand-alone games worth.

Great OT, Miku. The "Letters to Miku" section adds a nice touch to it. Both of my PS4s are so ready for those timers to finish counting down.

Pre-order complete, waiting for everything to download.

I can't play until after work tomorrow anyways, so no rush.

I hope the Online Rankings will have a tab for PSN friends as well. Would love to compare my scores with my friends.

Extremely unlikely.

Let. Me. Dream.

Ignorance is a bliss sometimes =(

Hatsune Miku arcade doesn't have any GUMI songs like Matryoshka ? I personally like that one a lot so I was expecting at least for them to have a couple of songs with her on it >.>

GUMI deserves a solo game that it's well done >.>

Thing with GUMI is she's owned by Internet Co, so whilst they got her for Mirai DX even there she was kind of limited (not available as a roommate etc). They'd need to negotiate rights and all that for her to show up in DIVA.

I did read some stuff on my feed (IIRC from one of Internet's blokes) suggesting if there was enough demand they'd consider it, but for the time being I doubt it, even if they're adding plenty of Mirai songs nowadays. That said, even when DIVA technically does feature songs with GUMI they go for a Crypton alternative (1, 2 Fanclub shows up in DIVA X, but it's Giga-P's Miku and Len version).

So I'll miss out on those themes if I don't buy it right away? I kinda wanted to try the 2 songs first. But more so, I want the themes.

Also, I like rhythm games but on my 35ms input lag TV I haven't tried any yet. I hope it wont be too much for these kind of games.

Yeah... most, if not all, of the pre-order themes from JP PS Store are exclusive to pre-order only

If I remember right, the previous games on the PS3 had TV lag correction settings. I would imagine this game should have the same option.

I am not expecting GUMI only songs, just a few that she sings with the others characters just like in Mirai. I believe if they worked out on that, I wouldn't see why this couldn't happen here.

Then again, I also expect that the DLC will be songs already available in the arcade version, so if there isn't a single available there yet, it's gonna be a long wait if it happens at all.

Nah once its downloaded it'll be available on every profile.

Anyway I bought it too. I wasn't going to right away. But those themes man..

Ah okay cool. Just the countdown timer when you bring it up with a US account is just blank while in the JPN account, it is fine. So treat it like the other games. Man there's going to be so much things to do with this. Overwatch may have to be put aside for a bit :D

Pre-ordered for my boyfriends birthday on the 23rd. He's gonna be so happy. I'm so excited to play it now, pre-loading!

Woah I didn't know this was out so soon, where and how is it the easiest way of buying this?? Or easiest way of getting JPN psn pre paid cards??? I already have a JPN account.
