HATSUNE MIKU Project DIVA Future Tone |OT| A gift to the millions of miku fans

Argh, I'm too used to the arcade version and these arrows are confusing me @_@
This game really needs a dedicated controller!

Use the "Melody Icon" setting we talked about last page to change the icon set back to the standard arcade set. It's in the menu that is brought up by hitting Triangle during song select.

Sadly, that would only be helpful if I was using a controller similar to the arcade cabinet :p
I can't process how to do some of the multi-notes with a PS4 controller and some of the Hold notes seem impossible to do properly.

For some reason, the game isn't detecting the Future Sound pack. Anyone else having this issue ?

Also, how do I set the correct clothes for each song ? I can check the customization options, but I don't think there is a setting that takes you directly to the recommended set, right ?

You can use the corresponding shape button to hit an arrow note, and vice versa. Might help!

Costumes tip:
Sets A through C are ones you select that are used on any song, the standard set (no idea what the JP text for it says) is specific to that song.

So far I'm loving Future Tone, it's a (very noticeable) smooth 60fps, pretty much all the notes patterns I've known for years are identical to how they originally were, the new slide and hold mechanics are WAY better and the sheer amount of content is overwhelming. I can honestly understand why Sega wouldn't want to localise this, because I'm sitting here wondering why I would ever need another Miku game when this has literally all my favourite songs, note patterns and modules with no useless fluff (X's story mode does not interest me at all).

I would actually rather see Sega take this kind of direction for future Diva games, a base trial version and then regularly release new song packs and modules for download.

Hot tip:

Press L2+R2 during module select to switch to the recommended module for that song

Also, I'm really liking this new control scheme. It feels oddly intuitive to keep switching hands, and it's nice to play without worrying about technical zones/chance times. The linked multi-note hits keep sneaking up on me, though. It'll take some practice. And holy shit there are a lot of songs, it's going to take me several multi-hour play sessions to get through them all.

Does anyone know how to turn off the "mute vocals when you miss" setting? It's not as annoying as previous entries, but I really prefer to have it off.

I can't start really enjoying games until I figured out all the options, and this double button press assist or whatever it is is the last thing I can't figure out. Could someone translate the options and the text below? thanks.

It's the first thing I looked for as I hate it

Press triangle during song select and then its bottom option -> third from the bottom

So everyone is accessing the Future Sound songs without any issues ? For some reason, just the Colorful Tone are here and I bought the pack =(

The first option there is to enable/disable the controller hint/prompt during button combos, for example when you have to press square and circle simultaneously you'll see a image of the controller on screen with those buttons highlighted, this settings simply disables this like it would when playing on extreme.

I'm afraid I'm still trying to figure out what the second option does myself.
Hmm looks like both option are disabled in Extreme anyway? Then there's not really a point in keeping them on I guess.

Try logging into your JP account and restoring licenses? Sometimes licenses don't unlock when they should. All the songs are there for me.

So after an hour or so before I had to get back to work:

- I believe I have the lag calibrated to the point where it feels as if I were playing on a vita or psp, close at least. I had to dig through a ton of menus on my tv to turn off everything that might have an impact, ended up at -16.
- That said, playing on the PS4 controller feels much better to me than the old Dual Shocks. Larger handles and less mushy buttons helps.
- I think I'm going to map slides to L2/R2 as they are showing up in quick succession and are direction-sensitive, and triggers seem to make more sense to me than flicking sticks. It was easier back on F/F2nd because the direction was less important.
- Don't miss technical zones at all. I also really like how the ranking thresholds move along with your score during play to give you a sense of how good you are doing.
- All the menu interactions are near instantaneous, really snappy. PS4 snappy. Huge improvement. Actual loading for the game is relatively short too.
- One minor gripe I have is that this version lacks the loading "charge up" animation that I see in videos from the arcade. It is just a static screen by default, but apparently you can replace with your own screenshots. I would have liked original art like the old days, but how incredibly minor that gripe is.
- I can't deal with the multi notes at the moment and maximum holds seem like a distant goal. Gotta drill this into my muscle memory now.
- hooray for buying modules with in-game credits. yay.
- also, thank goodness all songs appear unlocked from the start. Nothing to unlock or routes involved. There is some level up mechanic but I'm not sure what it does yet.

I can already say spending $80 was totally worth it and every Miku fan should buy this.

So far, songs up to Hard / ~7 stars also don't go crazy with multiple buttons so that's not an issue yet. It probably will be later though, but I feel like it can work on the DS4. If/when they make a dedicated controller for this I can see myself buying it though.

BTW it's a crime that even in this Meiko barely has any solo songs.
I thought there was 224 songs in the game yet it says 216/216 at the bottom of the song selection screen?

Not all songs support all difficulties. You have 224 on Hard

I had to wait few hours till I got home to actually buy it but now I only have add to wishlist option on PSN. Add to cart button seems to have disappeared both on PSN in browser and PS4. Anyone with same problem? Is this normal for new releases on JP PSN?

Just was helping someone else out with the same issue, it seems to be on the PS Store still as a pre-purchase but since the timer has expired you can't buy it. I assume it'll be sorted when they update the store later in the day.

So wait, it's up?

I've been checking the JP PSn, but I can't seem to find Prelude at all.

Just a blurb for the game itself, screenshots, a description, and games similar to it.

Thanks. Had no idea this could happen with pre-orders. Hopefully it'll go live soon.

Only for preorders.

Should be up for everyone when the store updates in ~8 hours or so.

Really curious to see how Extra Extreme is.

There was some discussion about this in the last thread, but most if not all of the songs that have an Extra Extreme chart are pre-Future Tone songs that thus have no slider notes in their charts. Extra Extreme served as a way to add a chart with these mechanics to the song without removing any of the existing charts. In this fashion, it should be considered a parallel difficulty to Extreme and not guaranteed to be harder (and in fact a few of the EXEX charts are indeed rated below the original EX charts).

Well that's disappointing. I thought Sadistic Music Factory would get even crazier.

I say that like I can even beat it on Extreme lol

It's been linked before, but Zedev's mechanics video might help those who haven't been exposed to Arcade mechanics before: https://youtu.be/f47YUe5ekcM

I believe he mentions that the rapid chords tend to be arranged in logical ways that you might not pick up at first.

Thanks for the link. I did notice how those chords were lining up while playing a few songs on Extreme. It'll still take some time before I'm really used to it, though.

Need to get used to Slide notes, hold notes and multibuttons, but the hundreds of hours I spent on PDF games on the Vita at least gave me enough experience to clear songs on Hard without problems. I feel slightly slower on the DS4 compared to the Vita though, so I have to get used to that as well.

Since you can filter the online rankings by friends, it would be cool if we had a GAF playerlist for this! My PSN is Zhao_Yun16 if anyone wants to add me :)

welp probably buying this after ztd like the fool I am

I uh, have a JPN PSN account, do I just spend $100 on yen cards or w/e somewhere and just add that?

(I'm US so I don't think a cc will work)

Need to go through the button sound settings, seems like different songs have different default sounds, and any song that doesn't play Sound 1 Tambourine throws me off.

That's pretty much it.

I cannot for the life of me get used to these new double notes, I've tried everything. My weak spot in Diva games was always not using the D-Pad for anything and it has returned to bite me in the ass. I see triangle and circle and my brain just decides to derp and press 1 correct button and some random D-Pad direction. Not sure how to even go about trying to learn to do these correctly, but sadly using thumb only isn't an option since adjacent doubles (like X and O) are fine but opposite doubles (like triangle and X) aren't possible.

I'm still at work and still can't play, and have resorted to digging up videos I made of myself playing at Round1 nearly two years ago: Freely Tomorrow and saihate (lol). Both of these videos were made with maybe an hour of accumulated play time, so hopefully I can do way better than this tonight lol

That's one of the holdovers from the first Project DIVA that apparently survived to this day. It actually kinda weirded me out that it no longer happened in DIVA 2nd. It made Packaged sound totally different, lol

Is the game not supposed to fill my entire display (1080p)? I don't think it's a problem with my display settings, and there aren't any calibration options in the menus.
