Bear with me, I've never played a pokemon game.....ever.
What do you do with your pokemon after catching them? I'm assuming you fight people, but where and how?
What else should I know/do?
So what's going on with this? I've got a Nexus 6P and I'm in the US and it still says unavailable in this country. Are people using the APK? I thought I heard people were getting banned for that.
It's still not out on Android, but as long as you're using the official APK nobody's reported having issues. Bans aren't actually happening, just server errors.
Man, some of the pictures the Ingress folks submitted for the locations are piss poor. A few round here are at night where you can see nothing on clearly a 1 megapixel camera. Wish we could submit replacement.
Yes it is, you just need to follow a direct link. Searching for it in the store will get you the "Not available in your region" message.
Some of these "landmarks" are also pretty weird. Every single bench, on the block where my office is, is considered a landmark for some reason.
The bathrooms at the park by my house are a gym lol

So far it seems really good, i mean that coudl change as most f2p games eventually hit a wall but from what i have played so far it seems as long as you walk/travel to catch pokemon and visit spots for pokeballs etc. you shoudl be ok.How influenced is this game by real money purchases? I have no problem spending $15-$20 on a good long term game but apps that allow me to spend $100's and still not have everything unlocked I'll pass on in a heartbeat.
Rebooted my app and got like three Pokemon in two minutes lofl
How can I trade in repeats?
Check CP before you transfer dupes, so you can be sure to keep the stronger one. There are gyms you can go to (locations here in the real world). If someone from an opposing team has taken it over then you fight their Pokemon to claim it for your team. If someone on your team has taken it over then you can fight their Pokemon in a sparring match. If no one has taken it over then you can take it over and people will fight your Pokemon.
Transfer any duplicate Pokemon you catch to the professor. This will give you an extra piece of candy to level up and evolve.
That was the other thing I was wondering. I downloaded the app and checked it out but since I was unable to travel anywhere, I used an incense but still didn't see anything happen. Gave it maybe 10 mins then stopped. Clearly it seems designed for people on the move but can it still be enjoyed if you're confined to a location like at work, school, etc.?So far it seems really good, i mean that coudl change as most f2p games eventually hit a wall but from what i have played so far it seems as long as you walk/travel to catch pokemon and visit spots for pokeballs etc. you shoudl be ok.
Incense seems useful if you arent travelling since that brings pokemon to you but it doesnt seem vital so im sure you can cope without it.
select the pokemon from the list and at the bottom there will be a "transfer" button
Do you have said direct link? OP link still directs to the store where I'm still getting the "not available in your country" message.
Has anyone tested yet how much data the game needs on average?

So I defeated a gym leader with my 238 Tauros, but now the gym leader is someone else with a 238 Tauros...
This game is infuriatingly buggy at the moment..
Come to think of it, that link didn't work for me last night either so what I did was go the Play Store website on my Mac and search for Pokemon Go and then had it remotely install to my phone, that worked.
Here are all the pokemon I caught today, named them all also
Jesus every name I tried was taken.
Settled with GetNMyBall

I believe for Ingress there was a way to add new portals (though they go through some checks and stuff). I would assume Pokemon Go will eventually have an option to add poke stops here and there as well.Looking at Ingress maps for my town is bringing down my hype a bit since "close" to my place are two portals, both 2.5 km in opposite directions : The city center seems ok, but I would really like to just pop out for a walk and hit some stops from home whenever I feel like it.
Pokemon appear where ever though?
Cool, can you add nicknames at any time or only after capture?
And do anyone know if nicknames can be seen on gym defending pokemon?
This worries me about waiting for an official launch in Europe.
I walked around for about an hour last night with it constantly on and I'd say it used like 10 to 20 mb of data. It's really not that bad. I figure that it mainly relies on your GPS and then does a server refresh every now and then or whenever you're doing something important (i.e. catching a Pokemon, battling a gym.)
The real drain is going to be on your battery since you have to keep the app open at all times.
I walked over 5 kilometers and only used about 15mb of data.
yugh, I have 8 minutes left on my incense and got NO Pokes
Yeah, incense works pretty well in my experience, you may have been having server issues before you rebooted. Good to know that it doesn't remove your incense timer if you do so.Heads up for any and all incense users, if you don't see anything after a few minutes, reboot the app. I didn't do it until there were like five minutes of incense left and when I did, reboot I got like four Pokes in two minutes.
I need to get a damn fast charging dock!Definitely keep your app open if you're just sitting around. Pokes still appear. I've caught two without incense just at my desk.
Yeah just realized I can (just barely) hit one at my desk at work. Pretty sweet. There are three Pokestops accessible from my desk lmao
My catching technique is deeply unrefined so I'm pretty low on pokeballs.
I wish there was some kind of social aspect/hope there is one eventually.
I missed that before, so jelly :'( I can't even find a baby Eevee around here.Jolteon. ;-;
unless you are particularly attached to an individual pokemon or want to keep the original form on hand, just keep the highest CP one you get and transfer all the others for extra poke-bits.Is there any benefit to keeping an original Pokemon and having a separate one to evolve or can/should I transfer all my extras?
Not powering up my guys yet though because i dont want to waste my resources hahah
Just got to lvl 11, whew.
Yeah, has it been determined what's "best"? Powering up existing Pokemon or saving all the candy for evolution? I don't really know what to do yet.
Also, can Pokemon ever break out of Pokeballs in a fight? I was trying to get a Tauros and it looked like the Pokeball caught it like 3 times, but then the fight continued and it was outside again. I figured it was just a bug, so I quit and didn't catch it (although it still showed up in my Pokedex). But maybe it just happens against stronger Pokemon or something.
THIS THREAD IS ON DEATH ROW! GO TO THE OT!Oh shit there's an OT.
No more posting here, trainers!

I had a vileplume roll up on me last night. It had an orange ring rather than green while attempting to catch it. Broke out of my pokeballs 5 times, then ran away. I'll miss him :'(Yeah, has it been determined what's "best"? Powering up existing Pokemon or saving all the candy for evolution? I don't really know what to do yet.
