JoJo's:Diamond is Unbreakable Episode 15
Man, the new OP song looks really cool visually. Still not sold on the song yet (I love CNBT), but I'm sure it'll grow on me. Definitely has this Shonen feel and I think it fits in this arc of Part 4.

The episode itself was great as always. I love Josuke's backstory about his hair so much lol. Love the beatdown on Rohan lol.

Shokugeki no Soma Episodes 21-24 (End of First Season)
Just finished and it was kind of amazing. Watched it from a friend's recommendation and I don't regret it. Was such a really fun ride from start to finish and it was really hard for me to put down. Love the food reactions, looked super nice and the characters were just really charming and fun. Soma's legit one of my favorite Shonen protagonists in a long time and probably my favorite character in the show. Only criticism I have is that Erina was...actually kind of really lame, and I hope she gets better season 2 (which I'll start tomorrow!).

Oh wow, this is way more violent than I was expecting.

I'll watch episode 2 when it hits, but episode 1 didn't give me much hope for this show...

I think I know why I like Kuromukuro mechs more than other mechs from shows in the Mecha genre: They stick to the ground. It's one of the reasons I like Evangelion battle sequences. The biggest problem I have with most mecha shows like Gundam is at some point, they just start flying everywhere. Why? Why are they flying everywhere? Why not use planes or spaceships? How are they aerodynamic?

Anyway, ya, I'm really liking Kuromukuro so far. Not necessarily groundbreaking, but they do what they do pretty well.

Pretty funny and awesome episode, especially how the winner was decided. The next tourney is gonna be epic.

Concrete Revolutio: 18
Damn, another incredible episode of Concrete Revolutio. The consequences of the Shinjuku riot weigh very heavily, with prejudice and pervasive fear against superhuman having become normalized. In this kind of environment where the status quo against superhumans is so strong, there is no easy path to knowing what the right thing is, which sets up the conflict between Jirou and Daisetsu at the end. And then there is the story of Wakamura, a widowed father who obtained superpowers, who will do anything to maintain his powers because he has his daughter he wants to make happy, and in a way shows the folly of dividing people as good and evil as some of the stubborn people in the show does. In that aspect, it feels like Jirou has matured somewhat, or at least that is how his conversation with Wakamura felt like.

I mean, it's not like human shaped mecha have any kind of practicality in real life anyways, so I don't see the point of griping about Aerodynamics

I like to think of Mecha as being bigger humans, with all the advantages that the human body offers(more easily traverse hazardous terrain, climb over obstacles, manipulate objects, higher point of view) in a bigger, more durable form factor. Humans can't fly, and flying Mecha don't really offer anything a plane can't.

Just my opinion though. I mostly see future mechs being more like the Aliens power loader regardless.

Thunderbolt Fantasy 1

Holy shitballs this is amazing

Amanchu 1

It's not quite as obnoxiously optimistic as Aria (although the constant SD characters are obnoxious) and it's better made overall than Aria. Still, I'm not interested in watching more. It feels shallow like cotton candy, as Sato's healing works have a tendency to do, and so I'm not emotionally engaged in any way. Plus, Sato's storyboard for this episode rather annoyed me. I'm being a bit nitpicky here, but I didn't like how often he resorted to Dutch angles and other weirdly framed shots, which introduced a bit of visual tension at odds with the rest of the show. And of course there's the aforementioned SD, which I know is taken from the manga, but which looks so ugly, especially when the "realistic" character designs are so attractive. If the dominant emotion this show makes me feel is ticked off, I know I'm on a totally different wavelength.

I am amused at how the male school uniform is Every Male School Uniform Ever while the female school uniform are these long flowing pink dresses which look like the dress of a 19th century debutante.

Handa kun Episode 1
Cm4sqmNW8AEWTOy.jpg:small

Best character, though the anime is kind of dumb since Handa seems to think one thing while everyone else (except Juri) is worshipping him. I love how the guys are commenting on all he does and stuff. I hope Juri can become friends with him and ditch that pretty girl, the pretty girl is all mean and awful to her, its so annoying and rude.

Meanwhile in America

I take back any doubt I had over this masterpiece. This might be anime of the forever. Only downside is the fucking Attack on Titan S2 soundtrack sneaking into the show.

Time Travel Girl 1

I'm learnding! This was actually decent. Nothing amazing. The main female leads are enjoyable in their interactions. Will probably check out the next episode.

It has an opening that I find oddly hilarious.

If no one else does it first and assuming there isn't one already, I think I'll toss up a Thunderbolt Fantasy thread in the OT tomorrow so more people check it out.

Uh, so is Thunderbolt bad good or good good? Don't want to waste 30 minutes to find out.

91 Days 01

I'm really into mafioso stuff but this didn't do anything for me. At least it is better then Gangsta or Joker Game.

Thunderbolt Fantasy 01

Holy crap the budget and sakuga are so high it looks real. Someone tell off topic.

This was fuckin' awesome. I'm so into this, even with the Sawano which is somewhat hilarious. The sound effects are extremely goofy, I can't tell if that is on purpose or not. The dude cutting his own head off was some amazing bullshit.

Didn't know about that Thunderbolt show. I might check it out after seeing that webm on the other page lol. Have there been any other puppet/stop motion anime?

This isn't stop motion, it's actual puppetry being recorded in real time. See: here for the company doing it, or just watch the "episode 0" that's publicly available on Crunchyroll for a behind the scenes look.

Handa-kun 1

I love how the show spent like the first half introducing these side characters as the focus and they aren't even in the main plot itself even though they appear in the fucking OP lmao.

Who knew that a show about a calligraphy expert was going to have the most badass metal OP in a while. As to the episode itself once it started, it was pretty damn good. The faces are on point. I'll continue watching, I like the change in dynamic of the main show with the fan club watching the episodes. Like anime's MST3K.

Thunderbolt Fantasy episode 1

I think the only thing I didn't like was the CG for the skeleton dragon things. Those reminded me way too much of Godzilla (2000). But other than that, It was shockingly entertaining. Everything else had really good looking effects, the fights were super energetic, and the puppetry was handled super well.

Anime might just be saved by puppets and fantastic fighting effects.
(Yeah, I'm aware MAL doesn't consider it an anime, but whatever. This is an anime thread, and we're talking about it. We all decided that MGSV was anime, so why not this? :p)

91 Days

Maybe I don't have to worry about this show. Nothing screams anime so far, it just seems like a mafia film that happens to be animated. The soundtrack was fantastic throughout especially the minimalistic sound design with background music. The opening shots of the piano/cemetery/stained glass windows were amazing. The ED with the old style text box and the singing girl with the piano. MMMM MMMMM

As others have said, it didn't feel like a particularly American city, so I guess it's fictionalized Little Italy lol. If this keeps up this quality of story telling I can see it being my anime of the season.

edit: I'll also keep shamelessly pimping the 91 Days OT until you assholes go post there.

New Game ep.1

Well, that wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The comedy was good, the characters were all "interesting" and it had a good tonae to it. If thr comedy stays there, I'll stick with it for a bit.

I thought they use tons of cg but seeing how large the studio is and the PILI Sand was awesome, and the smoke and lighting. Also how they try to make destroyed stuff look more beautiful was nice.

The doll designs look so much better than the original art
