Character models that bug you

Not--not insects.

Like, what are some character models that you don't like. This isn't necessarily for objectively hideous things, but just ones that bug you. Mine is from a pretty innocuous game, Harvest Moon: Magical Melody. The character models are pretty run of the mill chibi anime characters for the most part, but the characters, especially the main male character, are at like a permanent semi crouch, with a weirdly well modeled posterior that's constantly assailing you.

It's a really stupid thing to get bothered by I guess but the general graphical style kind of put me off the game to begin with, so the butts were the straw that broke me, I couldn't get past them.

So anyone else have character models that bug them?

Characters from the recent Tales.

I know it's hard to convey without an image, but the way the mo-cap works and the fact that the Tales characters are inherently sort of stylized create this sort of uncanny dissonance between the more subtle movements of humanness in the way they hold their stance and position, but none of that is present in their face or clothes.

Some parts feel too rigid when the rest flows, and some parts feel too "real" for something that is on the stylization curve near a Mario character. Try comparing model movements in Zestiria to those of Vesperia.

all of the humanoids in Xenoblade Chronicles bother me. Can someone post one? I'm about to head to work.

Already touched upon but if you built a default model and a default animation causes clipping, you done goofed.

I think they started using that in Dawn of the New World.

It certainly looks better than the ones they had in the old games like Vesperia though imo.

I really dislike the fact that 3DS's tiny low res screen made so many RPG devs resort to chibi-esque proportions for their 3D characters so that you could even resolve the features of a character's face at all. Generally can't stand that stuff, especially when the art for a given game suggests that those little cartoons are actually full-size people! Gotta wonder why the PSP wasn't so plagued with that shit

Dust and Fidget from Dust: An Elysian Tail. Fidget especially. Just really don't like them, though the game is quite exceptional and beautifully animated.

EVERY character model from Code Name: STEAM

Ken's face in Street Fighter V.

It looks okay in-game, but his face & the way his default hair is modeled bothers me. It's a shame since his character art pretty much nailed it.

I'm trying to enjoy the classic Alpha Protocol for its great story but your character just looks so ridiculous when walking or sneaking around.

Lol, this always struck me as the strangest thing to be upset about (which I guess is the point of the thread). I actually really like characters with tiny feet.

Not tiny feet, no feet.

It makes everyone look like a deer and I don't like it. The designs aren't chibi, and the pointed legs clash with the games style IMO

I like that Battleborn guy's design, it's hilarious lmao

I especially like imagining what he'd look like as a skinny dude. He'd look like an XCOM enemy lmao

This impostor they got to play Sully in Uncharted 4:

I mean, you aren't going to confuse him when you hear Richard McGonagle's voice coming out of his mouth, but in terms of facial features that's a completely different person.

You could rationalize that the Sully on the right is just older. Everyone looks older in Uncharted 4.
