Visceral's Star Wars game['s dev process is similar to Uncharted], new concept art

As long as it's like Uncharted 1-3, and not like 4, then i'm alright with that.

I do hope its not just a run of the mill 3rd person shooter though,

So they revived the Star Wars 1313 concept? Sounds hot!

I mean, its not as if UC gameplay is anything standout, but it works, so seeing that in a star wars theme should be interesting for the first time. I hope they make it a stand alone story

obviously...i mean, who would want their game to play like one of the best franchises of the past decade right?

Not me. And uncharted is not nor has ever been one of the "best franchises of the past decade". At best it's one of the prettiest.

Yep. I think TLOU was the point where ND elevated itself to making an actual great IP as opposed to just a good or enjoyable one.

But with UC, i never generally got the hype for it. Although its a fun series, your running around shooting badguys from chest high walls, solving a handful of puzzles .Your main character is a stereotypical one liner main character from any hollywood adventure movie and none of the plot was actually engaging for how people talk about it being a character and plot focused series.

I thought TR 2013 did a better job at being an Uncharted game than Uncharted really.

Maybe i got spoiled cause i played Gears earlier? But none of the gameplay in UC was anything special.

My bet is that this IS 1313, but massively expanded so that the whole coruscant thing is just a level that we play rather than the whole game.

Its EA doing a third person shooter. We will get our combat sequences, turret sequences and cut scenes with amazing graphics. I dont think they will take any risks unfortunately, its supposed to wow the general audience more or less like Battlefront.

How do you know if the gameplay is good or bad?
3 92+ rated games but the gameplay in Uncharted is poor???

Grand Theft Auto IV has a 98.

Uncharted games are poor, always have been poor, and nothing has changed based on what I've played of 4 so far. I got so bored I haven't even finished it, and I finished Homefront: The Revolution.

Hopefully not too similar. Uncharted's generic, albeit inoffensive, game mechanics are predicated on the series being set in a somewhat realistic world, and being lead by an every man type character. Does that same gameplay route make sense in fantasy sci-fi setting of Star Wars? Sales wise I'm sure anything is fine, but I don't really expect anything better than Battlefront.

Something in the vein of a 3rd person Dishonored or Deus Ex would make more sense from a quality standpoint. I have zero hope for any kind of KotoR type game showing up.

Getting the force unleashed vibes, in terms of how it might play. Not a fan of gameplay taking a backseat to graphics. Hopefully there's gunna be more to it than set pieces.

I don't think it's hated but we really don't need another version of Uncharted. There are five of those games.

So what should this new single player focused Star Wars game -- made by Visceral Games and lead by Amy Hennig be then pray tell.
Both of whom made a career out of making narrative focused third person games.

Saying a game is like Uncharted 2 is not like saying a game is like Uncharted 4.

Hell - saying it's like Uncharted 1 is not like saying it's like 2 or 4.

It sure is a largely assumption based, generalising, hyperbolic old time on the internet, as usual.

I don't know. I don't make games for a living. But luckily she was misquoted and never said this game plays like Uncharted.

Amy "Younger Girls Just Need To Suck It Up" Henning lost me at last years GDC.

She makes fun games but is out of touch with the reality of today's gaming industry and culture.

Are you sure she was talking about the role of women in the industry? The explicit language makes it seem like she was maybe giving younger women advice about their sexual life. I guess the context is important ...

A Star Wars game as good as ANY of the Uncharted games would certainly be the best interactive Star Wars experience since the days of KOTOR and Jedi Outcast.

A very exciting prospect.

I really hope that the main character isn't a white dude.

It would be in line with the new Star Wars films to have more diversity and e.g. put a woman front and center in the game.

Surely that speaks more to your poor taste in games than anything else though?

It's a misquote, good. Not that I don't like the idea of a 3rd person, Story-focused, action-adventure game in the Star Wars universe. I'm just not a big fan of using a singular game/series that somebody else made as the blueprint for your brand new game.

Wait, why do people still keep comparing it to Uncharted? It's the creative process that's like Uncharted, not necessarily the gameplay. If it does play like Uncharted, though, then I can see it being similar to 1313. Which would obviously be great.

Do we at least know when this is set, though? I think I saw a post somewhere mention that it's during the OT era?

Because Uncharted was one of the first games I got for my PS3 after hearing constant praise for the series being a "must-have", only to find myself dozing hard during gameplay, which only a handful of games have caused me to do. Although according to the thread, I've been playing it wrong and I should've been watching it instead of playing it, which doesn't sound promising for a video game.

I'm sure the rest of GAF have received endless orgasms after hearing the comparison, but linking Star Wars to Uncharted doesn't sound very thrilling to me.

It's a misquote, but Nolan North did mention that Amy's game is "in the style of Uncharted" and looking at the concept art (jumping traversal, accompanying character, climbing cliffs), it's definitely looking to have that Uncharted DNA in it.

I'm late to this thread and it's been said but yeah I see a lot of Uncharted in those pics (which is a great thing). I'm very hyped for this game and hopefully we get some solid details next E3 (I would like them before then but being realistic probably not). Enjoyed hearing Amy discuss it on the celebration panel (which I just watched).

Welcome to the 2018 games! Hahaha. It's okay though. More polish, right?

And that's never a bad thing. I can wait till 2018. Hopefully Days Gone comes out next year, I need my 3rd person cinematic action fix. It would be crazy if ND's next game came out around the same time as this star was game. Talk about a hostile environment around the Internet lol

She's also Creative Director, so...

But not the game director, and designing the game isn't what she does or is doing. So instead of splitting hairs, how about you understand the point I was trying to make in that it's weird to just assume this game would've played like Uncharted just because Hennig was the creative director on 2 of the games. Not to mention, she worked on a TON of games prior to Uncharted...

A little confused. I though Stig was working with Visceral. What team is Stig working with on the game with lightsaber combat?

Yeah based on your opinion. Not the rest of the world's. Games that review well and sell well are hardly gonna be poor are they? If that was the case the reviews and sales would tell a different story
