It can't jump high enough. Those aoe stomps are vertical jumps, but the hill is taller than him!So now you can finally jump again, but the T-rex can't jump? Sounds like racism to me.

Falcom themselves just opened a store in Tachikawa near their HQ, but I wouldn't be surprised if it sells out all its stock the day you stop by.Il be in Japan when the ost release I will try to find it, anyone knows a good store in Tokyo that sells VGM soundtracks ?
Falcom's music channel put up some of the soundtrack

That's a messy, almost bland composition. I'll hold off listening and judging its music until I hear it in-game.Anyone afraid Celceta was the new standard for Ys music, fear no longer. It's good to have not one, but two aggressive boss themes on top of quick and motivating tunes for the overworld.
I believe the "DLC" only has present packs and usable items. So I'm a chump and bought DLC costumes for Adol and Raksha. However, after downloading them I went under the DLC tab in the item menu, as well as checked in their equipment menu, and the DLC isn't there. Anybody know why? I have played for 2 hours or so, and got past the part where Adol gets to switch out of his default sailor uniform.

For costumes, go to equipment and keep pressing down. Costume slots are on a second screen, under accessories.
Got to the 4th chapter earlier today. All my characters are about ~35 and I'm really enjoying the game when I can go through without story sequences for longer periods of time. The story is by no means bad (some parts were quite engaging), but I wish you didn't have to go back to the home base so often.
Speaking of the base, if anyone missed it - you can retry base defense missions, which give nice experience, a lot of materials, and most importantly some very good items. Since getting S is really easy (at least on Normal), I wholeheartedly recommend not giving up until you get it.
Yep, I have checked the costume slots and neither character has their alternative costumes that I downloaded. When I booted up the game it said it completed installing the costumes, but they still aren't there. Waste of a couple hundred yen, I guess.I believe the "DLC" only has present packs and usable items.

Speaking of those missions - raising villager's affinity through quests and presents will make their skills during defense more effective. Very useful since they're surprisingly strong. Thanks for the tip on the defense missions. Finally got back to the game today and started doing those missions now. I'll make sure not to miss the s ranks.
That's odd. There are 2 free DLC packs on the store and one additional one from the first print version (all PSN versions have it until a certain point iirc). Those show in the DLC menu - are you having a problem with those as well?Yep, I have checked the costume slots and neither character has their alternative costumes that I downloaded. Yep, the free DLC packs don't work either. No clue why my game is bugging out. Oh well, I'm enjoying a lot anyway!Speaking of those missions - raising villager's affinity through quests and presents will make their skills during defense more effective. Very useful since they're surprisingly strong.

If that's the case, maybe costume DLC unlocks those at the tailor, once you unlock her in the story.
That's really weird. You updated your game with the day 1 patch/tried resetting it, right?Yep, the free DLC packs don't work either. No clue why my game is bugging out. Oh well, I'm enjoying a lot anyway!
Turns out I'm a dummy and haven't installed 1.01! Sorry for wasting your time! It says right in the patch notes that 1.01 is compatible with the DLC...That's really weird. You updated your game with the day 1 patch/tried resetting it, right?
-Combat system is very similar to Celceta. Feels great. One of the main changes from Celceta is the break system in which if you do a certain amount of damage against an enemy (with a character that is strong against that enemy type) you "break" the enemy. This means that the enemy is now vulnerable to all attack types. To be honest, once I break an enemy they are almost dead anyway, so it's not like I switch to finish the enemy with another character or anything. As mentioned earlier in the thread, the bosses do seem to make use of the jump button. I.E. One boss had a weak spot on his head, which of course usually required you to jump to hit it.

It is. I'm not sure if regular enemies had it in previous games.Isn't this the same thing as Stun in Seven and Celceta?

69% of the map cleared, near the end (?) of chapter 5. Now that my characters have decent equipment etc., I'm liking the game even more. Traversal is way more fun with new adventurer's tools
Guess it is. Beat Celceta 3 weeks ago and somehow forgot about it LOL.Isn't this the same thing as Stun in Seven and Celceta?
I feel oppositely. Midway into chapter 2 and I find myself wanting to skip the dialog.I have to say, this is on of the first Ys games that i care about the story to want how its going to unfold.
24th of August. When does the soundtrack release? I need to visit their new store...
Didn't try the one in Origins, but you have multiple decoys/barricades/a stun gong etc. and monsters are coming in waves from different points. Your villagers will use their skills, catapults with fire and you have to get rid of enemies asap to get a high rank.
Too dumb in writing or too predictable or what?I feel oppositely. Midway into chapter 2 and I find myself wanting to skip the dialog.

It's too much. Too much exposition about obvious things. This game is definitely, more than any other Ys game, a victim of Japanese writing syndrome where everybody repeats everything everybody else says over and over again. Ys is a series that used to understand that less is more, but now they've definitely fallen into the "tell, don't show. actually, go ahead and show, but make sure you tell before and after" trap.
That sucks. I only played the Napishtim-engine Ys (and I & II), not the VII/Celceta stuff, but that sounds pretty damning...It's too much. Too much exposition about obvious things. I'll probably still get it for PS4 if it gets localized, but it's too bad they moved away from what made Oath/Origin/Ark so good.
