Take-Two Hasn’t Lost Faith In Nintendo And They’re Excited About Nintendo NX

We’re believers. We never want to count Nintendo out. They do it over and over and over again. So we feel pretty enthusiastic actually,” he remarks.

Zelnick even counters my assessment of Nintendo’s position in the console race. “It’s not a slump, it’s intentional. They come to market, they do really well, and then they sort of exit the market for a period of time. They’ve been doing it for like 150 years, and that company has been doing the same thing… They’re really thoughtful, they come to market with something they really think is going to work, more often than not it really works, it blows up and then eventually they let it decline and they move on to the next thing. They don’t mind having time in between.”

So They are still excited, maybe it's about time they make a game for the system :)

I wonder.

Could the plan for the NX have changed? The recent *hints* (even if doubted by their supplier) make me curious if the system hasn't actually pivoted somewhere. Emily's price/cost analysis is also a new twist on where we were only a few months back.

Sounds bizarre.

Btw emily response on her rumors:
She continued, “When I say NX sounds expensive, I mean the gimmick sounds expensive. I stand by my report that this thing is closer to Xbox One specs. And by gimmick, I’m talking more about NX’s form factor. So anyways, keep an eye out for reports coming this week, and the following weeks.”

Important to know it's not about the power.

Wonder what these weird new rumors will bring about...

This just makes it sound like a handheld, lol. That'd be expensive if it has that sort of tech in it and somehow has a battery life. Unless Nintendo is going into heavy AR or something.

Its getting weird again!

If nintendo seriously get out with a weak console at 400 because it's a portable that can be attached to the TV they really are DOA. I'll buy it for zelda mind you, but the general public won't buy something "gimmicky" at 400. A gimmick need to be cheap for the general public to want to try it.

EDIT: that hint could also just refer to carts now that i think about it. "sound expensive" because maybe she think carts are that expensive?

Carts aren't really a gimmick even if real. They are just a media formfactor and the 3DS uses carts.

If there is a true hybrid, I doubt they kill their 3DS base by not letting you buy at least the HH separately if the complete package is like $300+.

NX SOC binned version of the handheld SOC.

Console SOC has all core enabled and runs at twice the clock. Handheld has half cores enabled.

Nearly 100% yield rate on the wafers this way.

Tales from my ass.

Yep. Hybrid makes no sense together. A console with the option to buy the handheld still keeps that line of hardware around.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Oh do tell! :p

Do it!!!
Don't do it if it could get someone in trouble, haha!

Ok, I'll do it. Don't worry, Eradicate: by "decent grounds", I meant the correlations between all the announcements. Hopefully, Level 5 won't make me look like a stupid in 2 days.

What have all the NX announcements so far in common?

Answer: they do NOT tell us anything about the graphical's potential of the device.

I'll try to explain by using all the announcements so far.

Dragon Quest X: This is a game that's on Wii U, and it started on Wii. Thus, we have no hint about how it can look on NX. Theorically, by this announcement, NX could be as powerful as Wii U.

Dragon Quest XI: Hell, yes, there's a great looking PS4 version, so OF COURSE NX will be on par with PS4! ...But why would you forget about the (great looking as well) 3DS version? What if the NX is a handheld and its SKU of DQXI is based on the 3DS one? We have no certainty on the matter.

Just Dance 2017: The JD games have such kind of graphics that, well, they can't tell us anything about the console's potential. Also, Just Dance games now use smartphones for motion controls thanks to the Controller app, so no hint about the "gimmick" either. I'd want to stay a bit more on this due to recent ZhugeEX rumours on NX (he's been pretty reliable, and he leaked the entire Ubisoft conference schedule as well).

He heard about 3 games coming to NX, including Just Dance. One of the two left was at E3, announced "a while back", coming to other platforms as well. So, why did Ubisoft announce JD, and not the other title ZhugeEX was aware of? Well, just look at the other titles present at Ubisoft's conference: all of them with gameplay footage showed on stage / showed earlier, so, by announcing them, Ubisoft would've given much more substantial material for the speculation about NX's power.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: Similar to DQX, the version showed at E3 was Wii U's SKU. In theory, NX could be as powerful as Wii U.

Project Sonic 2017: it was just a CGI trailer, we know nothing about its graphics. What if NX is a handheld? It wouldn't be the first time a Sonic game on home consoles gets a portable version, the trailer doesn't give us anything on the debate, in theory.

So, yeah, I've started noticing the pattern in the past few days, especially after Sonic was announced. I wonder if this is how Nintendo is allowing to specific partners "exceptions" while still keeping the mouth closed on, well, the platform itself: it would fit with the tight-as-hell NDAs (which, by the way, are a thing :p ), so much that not even the "allowed" announcements can give hints, not even the slightiest ones, on what NX actually is.

Does this mean that all the games announced for PS4/One without an NX version will be on NX as well? No way. But it's an interesting thing to notice that would explain why some announcements have been made, while others which are heavily rumoured to be a thing (like Ubisoft's game at E3) are sill left in the dark.

NX wont be handheld alone because you cant and it never was possible to play just dance on handheld

True. If that's the case, I have zero idea what she means by "form factor." I still think a gimmick like the TV attachment could drive up the price.

Good post. I agree with you, thoughI believe that you are not the first one to mention that. It doubt it's a coincidence.

Not unreasonable. Maybe Old Man Kimi saw something he didn't like....

I do think that Nintendo are going to hit a sweet price pointfor nx.

They want to have as many machines sold as possible, want to bring all the *moved over wii u projects* to nx to release asap.

I just think its gonna be more or less at 200 dollars or less, with say just over xbox level entry.

This is not going to be only option as i believe IMO that there maybe many SKU's for you to choose.

I carnt wait to hear more official word, as each nda starts to come to a close.

Nope. Unless you saw a female Link she is just one of the attention seekers.
lol. If you say so. Funny how some people will try and discredit Emily just because when she's mostly right, and has been 100% right the past couple years.

Plus they could be keeping female Link a secret to advertise later. You never know. Nintendo has denied things before then later we found out they were just keeping it a secret.

Anywayz: Interesting observation above at the announced games mpl. I hope its a full on handheld/all games play on handheld but have some doubts at it running BotW since even if they downgraded it some it would still need to be expensive to do BOTW on a handheld.

She has not been 100% right in the past.

I take it that Emily's tweets have reached here as well. I think we should trust here this time, since everything adds up. I think we'll see extremely soon.

She's admitted she wasn't that accurate 5 years ago; she's improved a lot since then

I know the wait is frustrating but in my opinion we are better off not taking anything for granted and just wait a bit longer for official details.

Personally I am not expecting anything from NX, anything official that I like is a pleasant surprise.
