Street Fighter V |OTV| BUFF MY MAIN & NERF THE CHARACTER I JUST LOST TO

No, I was talking about P4AU nerfing characters from P4A. I mean, I thought that was implied when I was talking about Yu's 5D since that was one of the most talked about nerfs during the loktest days.

That's too inside baseball for me.
But you're arguement I suppose is Ultimax didn't get enough nerfs then?
Well, the patch that never came to the states had them, at least for my main which seemed fucked cause he was lowest tier already. So, there's that.
I just wanted to dispell the rumor Ultimax actually 100% tuned up to balance their game, which seems a popular one.

No, you're looking at what I'm saying all wrong. Repeating and simply put:

P4AU = extremely volatile fighter
SFV = actually pretty level outside of Mika/Laura

SFV + only buffs = extremely volatile fighters = P4AU

I wasn't saying anything in regards to P4AU's balance from P4A. Hell, I had never even heard of that rumor before until now, and I'm saying that as someone who was very much entrenched in that online community. I'm someone who got the Platinum trophy in P4A (meaning I cleared Score Attack in Hard mode w/ every character). I kept track of every single morsel of news after P4AU was first announced. I played so much of both games that you can go to YouTube, type in "FluxWaveZ P4A" and get pages of videos of me playing both games against people like Lord Knight. I got "Master" rank online in both games.

I do know what's up, heh.

Really? You can't see how it seems like you said that here?

I've never really understood the mindset that characters should just get buffed and no one should get nerfed.

When that happens, you get Persona 4 Arena Ultimax's volatility,
where every single character has some bullshit that can kill you in 5 seconds. And that was one of the major complaints people had before 2.0.

Listen, fine, maybe I dreamed up the Balance up thing being associated with Persona. You've obviously put more time into the game so I'll shut up.

Sure, I can see how someone could misinterpret what I was saying. But I'm clarifying that it's not what I meant, since they very obviously didn't just buff characters up from P4A to P4AU. If they had done that, I wouldn't have switched from S. Lab to Adachi because Titanomachia spam would have still been a thing.

Yeah, that's a way of looking at it, but then there's also just the basic method of reducing the amount of bullshit from that top 7 to equalize everyone by averaging out their power levels instead of boosting them all up.

I really wonder if Mika deserves nerfs, when the time will come for the changes. She has some real weaknesses, no matter how annoying she may be. If her passion throw is affected (e.g. only bouncing back in the corner), something else will need to be buffed significantly, I feel. I think she's one of the characters where it's not really about buffing overall or nerfing overall.

At least Balrog is a character who'll no doubt get a bunch of buffs.

Well that's the thing. It's difficult to be objective. I'm just not a fan of the philosophy of 'ok now character x is more viable because character y and z got nerfed even though we didn't do anything to character x'. Like no. Fuck that I want dirty shit too. Other characters can keep theirs. It's not that I'm opposed to nerfs, I'm just not sure how much faith I have in capcom to dole them out in a thoughtful manner. I'd love to be proven wrong.
Revelator used to be like that

Johnny =(. I think he's still up there though.

Yeah the top tiers (Johnny, Sin, Elphelt) didn't get hit as hard as people initially thought when they saw the patch notes, but Johnny losing his unblockables changes his whole game plan.

He'll never be that ridiculously OP again.

We had a good little run there though. Almost made up for the AC+ years. On the bright side bacchus isn't as worthless as I though it would be. The meter gain nerf is a little painful though.

I'm good with this, but I like Marvel so I have no room to talk.

I signed up on v-league.pro after the old fightinggame.community site stopped updating, this site tracks your win rates and total fights for ranked and casuals (but only gives character matchup stats for ranked). Still a nice tool to see how you're doing, even automatically looks for videos uploaded with your cfn in the match lol.

Thanks for mentioning it, I didn't know about that place and just signed up for it now. Really cool site since I've been wondering how many matches I've played since the game came out and the CFN stat tracking still doesn't work.

Altogether I have a little over 4100 matches between Ranked and Casuals. If that's considered a ton compared to most of you guys, keep in mind that I never venture into Battle Lounge. It's always ranked or casuals for me. I've had periods of time where I didn't touch the game for a week or two, and then other periods where I came home and played 3-4 straight hours almost every night for several weeks.

I hope they don't wait too long after CPT finals to do a balance patch. Thoroughly dislike the state some characters are in.

Capcom Cup will be in early December and the start of the 2017 CPT will be in late February. So that's nearly a 3 month off season for them to release it. Personally I do want to keep the game in its current form until the end of the year and then release the next balance patch in January. Gives everybody over a month to get comfortable until the next season of the CPT starts.

I'm excited and scared thinking about it to be honest. This will be SFV's first balance patch and right now my character is top tier. I love going through these balance patches with tons of changes and tools both being nerfed and added to the whole cast. But I love my boy the way he is right now and I'm scared of how he might turn out.

So... After weeks of juri I just went back to guile and won 8 straight, ultra bronze in sight.

I feel like he's got the tools I need. Mainly a fireball. I don't really feel like I met my goal of learning how to play aggressively by playing juri though.

I guess I just don't know what I don't know. Gotta play more to get better.

So do you feel like Juri was worth learning?

Will you be going back to her?

Has she opened you up to more ideas or re-freshened your Guile game?

I don't know if the time I spent playing her can be counted as learning juri. At times I felt like I was doing OK with her for my skill level, and it was fun. I did learn important things about street fighter while playing as her, but those things werent character specific. Although if I hadn't tried a more combo oriented character I might not have looked at those aspects till much later.

Maybe I'll go back to her later on, her animations are great. Although, I kind of want to try every character at some point. It just seems like the time investment needed to "learn" a different character is prohibitive at this point.

Is this EZ mode?

Well.... He does have a fireball, and a dp. I think he's definetly more "basic street fighter" which is probably easier for a beginner.

Got a live one. Do people still report ragequitters, or has everyone given up?

Sure, I still come across a few during my sessions. The last one I played was a Platinum Ibuki who quit on me in the 3rd game. I ran into him again and he beats me in close match in the first game. I wanted to see if he would quit on me again if I won the next game or two. But he got the fuck out of there as soon as the option to rematch showed up.

No problem, I hadn't seen it mentioned here yet, and one of the top Karin streamers I watch signed up for it the day the other site bailed so I gave it a shot. I have about 2300 matches total for ranked/casual and maybe... if I'm being generous, 200-300 more from lounges, so I still have a bit more field practice to get in, it seems haha.

I learned Laura and my rushdown has got a lot better. Still gonna keep playing her but I may switch to someone else eventually. I played wayyy too passively before I started messing around with her. I went from being Ultra Bronze to being Super Silver now and feel like I improved a lot. Still feel like I have fundamental problems though, particularly footsies stuff. Staying with one character would probably help a lot more with that.

I feel like the punish where you get the solar plexus, d.HP, h.DP does way too much damage lol

I'm sure there are some other ones.

Signed up for v-league.pro as well. It's baffling that this kind of information isn't in the game itself.

Seems like I have about 8,700 matches between Ranked and Casual matches. Skill is 1.69, whatever that means.

I'd like a clearer divide between my performance with Mika and mine with Balrog. Seems that's what the "Match Up" section is for, but it doesn't seem to account for many matches yet.

Really unfortunate we can't get detailed stats in-game.

Edit: Haha, that dip right when I started to play Balrog:

I could see him losing damage.

He has good punishes, super confirms, and max damage combos. But in neutral he's really not doing much damage. If he lands a confirm on a crouching opponent, he has to burn meter to get a knockdown(and decent damage) or only get mediocre damage which resets the situation into neutral.

If people want to nerf his damage all around I can live with that. But I better get MK tatsu hitting crouchers in return for it lol.

My skill says 2.44, I also have no idea what that means. I'm also not sure what the "Match Up" numbers mean. My best guess is that they're my win percentage according to the matches that I played that are listed below. This site is pretty cool to have right now, but I can't wait until the real CFN actually works.

yo can anyone do me a favor and watch some of my replays?

I was just at 1400 LP (new record for me) and then I got matched against a lvl 5 account playing a lvl 5 karin (obvious smurf) TWICE which cost me 350 points.

Anyway, could someone look up my CFN (KetchV) and watch the replays of me playing against a karin named Dr3sden? and give me some harsh criticism pls. thanks.

They describe Skill as the average number of league points you've earned per ranked match according to the help tab. I'm not sure it's a useful metric especially since they adjusted LP awards when they changed matchmaking to stick closer to your leagues, and higher rank wins were pretty stingy before.

The match up chart is calculated by your most recent 100 ranked battles, giving an "out of 10" number for that particular character, kind of your own personal tier list, with overall being across all characters. You can hover over each number to see the total matches won/lost against that character, too.

I do like the site but it's obviously a work in progress (some spelling errors here and there, Juri not added yet). The main "Stats" page is pretty interesting, I think. The twitter account for the site seems to be pretty responsive if you have any suggestions or questions, though.

Just signed up - great little tool. I can't believe the stat options in game aren't up and running yet.

As an Alex (well, and Mika but I'm practicing Alex more right now) main, I think Ibuki's my worst matchup in this game.

I don't think she's unbalanced or anything (to be honest I think just about every character save for Ryu is pretty fair overall), but I always seem to eat a BnB every time I try and open her up. It's gotten to the point where I basically just treat every Ibuki match as a learning experience cuz I know I'm gonna struggle the second I see her pop up on the Vs. screen.

I fell all the way down to Ultra Bronze trying to learn Alex and I'm slowly clawing my way back up, but I still need to get past the mental roadblocks of playing a character with no wakeup options and relying on my V-Trigger to bail me out of tough situations.

A warning for fireball chuckers on Juri, she's just as nasty as Chun when you chuck a fireball and she has bar.

first match:

that ryu was decent at AAing but you kept jumping in anyways
stop jumping so much
you need to work on your punishes, you punished a bunch of tatsus and whiffed DPs with jabs only

cant really comment too much on the rest, I also suck vs gief lol

I'm gonna have to make a tough choice once Urien launches. He was my 3S main so of course I'm picking him up, but I dunno whether to drop Alex to focus on Mika and Urien or try and juggle three mains like I did in SFIV.

If they all share bad matchups then I'll just be wasting my time but man, Mika and Alex are just too much fun.
