Just started doing this since I have only have skillseeds grind left, but started with Dust Mage and now they drop directly at 3 stars.

It was rather quick to do, once I max my current Blizzard ability I'll do Blizzara.

You might as well do the Adamantoise first, since you're going to be farming a lot of him for the rest of the Ice card augments.

Doesn't hurt to have a maxed Blizzaja (or a string of fodders stashed for whenever a gacha Blizzaja card comes along)

Will do, thanks for the suggestion.

Made a job summon...got the hunter job...fml my gacha "luck" continues...

The one positive about this games gatcha is that when you summon a job that's it, from that point on you won't get duplicates. So if you were willing to spend a little up front you could effectively eliminate one of the gatchas, I got white Mage which was the one I really wanted since summoner and red Mage aren't available but that was dumb luck.

Gatcha Hunter is pretty great though and the best looking job I've seen so far (when seen from the back, the front is stripperic as hell)

Just look at it in the sense of now that you've got it, there is 0% chance you'll get it later on when you are drawing for a premium job

I've started playing it since yesterday; it is somewhat choppy on my Nexus 5X [dunno if it is expected or not], which is annoying, but otherwise it the most fun I've had with any FF since X. I think the gameplay mechanism is quite fun

Looks like I'm not getting an ability ticket from weekly rankings. Just got my best score and it puts me in the 11,000s (need to be in top 10,000 to get and ability ticket).

I also like how after chapter 2
One of the game bootup loading screens is about Mog

I have decks of nearly all lvl 26 cards (with the yuna heal) and some of these bonus levels are still coming out at 4 or 5 difficulty and kicking my ass. I'm trying to upgrade my abilities (especially the ice attacks) but it's taking a while. How are some of you guys at 100% for the two maps already?

Using the white mage (apprentice mage version) right now but the enemies in those levels do so much damage. I have about half the skill panes but up at white mage they take thousands of skillseeds to unlock. I have settled on going after bosses and trying to evolve fodder and skipping those extra levels for now.

What else can I do to get stronger? Do I need to pull a gatcha job and hope it's a mage one? (since that's what all my cards are in right now, lol)

Personally I relied on strong fire/water 4* rents, I'm also White Mage from the basic job.
I also didn't pull once appart from the tutorial where I got an ranger attack.
I could 100% both chapters but the Chaos Vortex is destroying me at the second stage.

Got Hunter as well but not getting dupes is the best part so at least that's out of the way. The starting jobs are still good enough and if I recall they got a huge buff in JP version.

I believe it gets worse in future chapters and high end events where the basic 3 jobs (upgraded or not) isn't enough.
They're strong enough to complete current content though.

The job pool right now is really limited.
I'd wait for the next few job batches before pulling.

I guess pulling now 'gets them out of the way' due to how NA is structured.

Can someone politely explain me about skillseeds please? Thanks..

In a nutshell, if you've played any Final Fantasy game with job classes, Skillseeds are a fancy name for JP or Job XP or whatever. You level your classes with them. You earn them after every battle based on what your 4 cards give you.

It's a good system, but being F2P player with limited magicite I'd rather test my luck later on with 5* jobs available in pool.
If I pull crap, oh well...

You use skillseeds to unlock upgrades in the Job panels (check in Decks option).
When you've fully cleared the panel of all upgrades, you obtain a new, stronger Job.
Then you get a new panel with more costly upgrades, requiring hundreds of seeds.

Obtaining skillseeds is the confusing part:
Each equipped card will give you appropriate seeds at the end of a battle.
(a fire card will give something like ~9 fire seeds)

You can upgrade the number of skillseeds a card gives by "fusion" same element cards to it.
(fusing 1-2* fire cards to your 3-4* fire card for example)
This gets complicated by success % chance after you've fused to the same card a few times.
Green Cactaur cards has better odds for it, and works with all element.

You'll want to bring (most of the time) same element cards to get the most skillseeds of a particular element depending on the job you want to focus. (fire for warrior, water for mage, wind for rogue).

I noticed something really weird with this game today and my iphone 5c. If I play it for an extended time with my Iphone plugged into the charger the battery still slowly starts to deplete...I thought it was the phone battery at first but as soon as I close the game it goes back to charging and I can even play other games and the battery won't go down. wtf o.o

Game's consuming more power from your phone than the charger can keep up with

So what I'm gathering from this thread on leveling/augmenting:

1) can only make 3 stars of water, wind and earth of low tier cards by farming. Can't do fire without buying from shop. (I'm assuming the farmable bosses in chapter 2 are wind, water and earth? As chapter 1 is fire, water and wind. Does the earth boss drop both the 2 and 3 star augment cards?)

2) try to hit 3 stars on multiple low cards to make them drop from fights and power up the 4 star+ ones with the same skill.

Am I on the right track?

I just got into chapter 2, but I'm wondering if I can hold off and just farm the fire boss in chapter 1 for a bit. Or should I just go straight in and clear all I can?

Managed to score almost 500,000 points (currently 834th), hope it's enough to stay in top 1000 in 7 hours for the 3 ability tickets.

Holy shit this Lich is kicking my ass. I don't know if it's because I've commited to pure Mage or I'm not levelling my cards properly, but I'm on normal and on lv4 of the tower against the Imperial Lich.

Dunno if I'll be able to be in top 1000 every week by I'm glad I did it at least once.
Funny I'm surrounded by gacha jobs.

I had no idea this was out already!
I tried this late last night and the tutorials got to me. I wanted to save the game since I got sleepy, but the tutorial kept going and was blowing my mind. I just ended up turning it off.

The fighting seems decent. Interesting way they handled the map too. Just wish it was a bit more simplistic. What makes some mobile games so popular is the ease of "pick up and play". That doesn't seem the case here, at least not yet. Guess I'll try again when I get the time today.

The only thing I can discern that is useful from this is that it gives you an extra job slot.

Looking at the Mage path, you're going to open up White Mage and Black Mage down the line, so you'll be able to have nice presets for each in your deck.

First day of playing the game, I'm seriously lost here. Whether I'lm dumb or the finer details of the mechanics are not well explained and I'm left with many questions and not many certitudes.
At the moment I'm banging my head against a boss and nope, he keeps rolling over me. So grind, grind, grinddddddd... Maybe there is something I didn't get.

Anyway a few basic questions :
1/ Is the gacha the only way to obtain jobs ?
2/ Is the gacha the only way to obtain top tier abilities ?
3/ Should I go mono color or multi for my decks ?
4/ What's the nature of the bonus gained by equipping an ability that fit a job ? Stat bonus ? Dame bonus ?
*edit* 5/ Oh ffs, very important, any way to farm the "light bulbs" and "stars" cards ?
*edit* 6/ I'm sitting on 6 summoning ticket, what's the best way to use them ?

So many stupid questions, I feel I don't get something with this system.

1. You can obtain jobs by either upgrading your existing jobs under Decks => Skill Panel or by pulling from the gacha.
2. The gacha jobs are better than the free jobs, but free jobs can easily clear all the main game content. In a much later update the free jobs get a buff, but that's a long ways off.
3. Depends on what you're doing. If you're farming for a singular skillseed element, fill your deck with as many of that color as you want. If you're pushing through content and need a balanced deck, balance it out. It's up to you how you want to advance.
4. Damage bonus. And it gets massive the more you level up. You'll want to equip cards with the same class as yours as much as possible. Sometimes this isn't an option (no wind warrior cards at the moment, for example).
5. No. I'm sure we'll get some from events or login bonuses or whatever, but you can't farm these.
6. Some people say pull a job from the gacha as soon as you can so you have a premium job to level and aren't wasting skillseeds on the free jobs. Some say wait until a job you want comes out and pull, pull, pull. Personally I'd pull once right now just to get a premium job. Besides, this eliminates it from the pool when you decide you want to pull for a specific job.

I think that right now before the card pool fleshes itself out, you can paint yourself into a corner by going all-in on a gacha job rather than the free one as the absolute first job. The free ones at least give you a variety of classes (and thus element combinations) to choose from if you work on them.

For example, pulling White Mage, dumping about 40k seeds worth of job card unlocks and then being shoehorned into a deck that can't use wind cards. (There are farmable drop Wind magic cards but not Earth, and WHM is Fire/Ice/Earth).

edit: not to say a tricked out WHM can't absolutely murder things with the right deck planning right now - but the basic/free job's variety box gives you the leeway to make mistakes, at least.

While true, I think pulling one premium job then, determining what weakness it has and use it's weakness as a main leveling class. For example, if you pull a WHM, level a Ranger first.

I currently have a F2P Ranger and a premium Warrior. No element left uncovered.

Focused on breaking and finishing most ennemies at the same time with firaga, I should safely be in top 1000 at the end of the week.

Hahaha I've been experimenting with 3* Blizzaja on fire bosses.

It... results in a bigger number, but is far more unwieldy. 8 orbs vs 5 orbs (refunding 1).

Hi scores not gonna happen with this. Maybe when gacha -ja cards arrive and can be 4*'d

I was under the impression that the Stand alone jobs from the gatcha have their own evolutions that aren't obtainable from the base starting job. Example: Apprentice Mage goes into mage, then white Mage, then Black etc

Base White Mage branches off into a different Job instead of going to Black. I might be wrong but that's the info I've seen so far. I also think getting the Job card for the gacha is the only way to obtain the job specific weapons.

Correct. Gacha WHM goes into Combat Surgeon, but it's literally right at the end. Here's an idea of how long it will take to actually unlock it:

Hmm, that's quite a lot of farming...I still think it could be worth it to level White Mage for when multiplayer is released as support is always good. I'd still rather be focusing on Red Mage but that's at least 2 updates away

Apparently a Gigantuar map will be released someday that gives huge amount of skillseeds.

I have no intention of pulling just yet, but the lack of an actually good earth attack as the freebie White Mage really hurts. I've been trying to awaken the wind mage fodder so I can level up Cockatrice (which gives Aero) and switch back to Mage just as you describe. I'm not a bad enough dude to have farmed up to Black mage yet for it's wind element. D: EDIT: Oh, maybe global doesn't have Black Mage yet? Either way I am still quite far.

I will miss the extra attack when I actually try this though.

BTW, do you still get the skill pane bonuses when you switch back to a previous job in a line? EG. Benefiting from White mage panes when I move back to Mage for the wind element?
