Capcom announces TGS 2016 lineup

Waiting for a MH on PS4 neo/PC next year, don't disappoint Capcom.
Given Capcom's working relationship with Nintendo concerning the mainline Monster Hunter games, the NX will likely get a mainline MH game before the PS4 does. And even then, it wouldn't be Neo-exclusive, as Sony specifically said that all Neo games must be playable on the base PS4.

Some info or teases about Season 2 characters would be nice for SFV, but they'll probably save it for Capcom Cup in December.
Yeah I don't think TGS is the place for that. Also it would be nice to give these SFV guys a break and some time.

For new page...

I think we're about to get our big Resident Evil 7 blowout here, if not in New York at the PlayStation Meeting.

There was the newsletter for RE7 that went out just after E3 which teased the significance of the finger in the demo and in it, there was a calendar in it that mentioned September. I realise that sounds very reaching, but... consider the marketing push for it so far.

I'd link a picture to it, but I don't get the newsletter. Hang on, I'll see if I can dig it out from elsewhere.

Well, BOOM.

What leak?
This one
Related info from a meeting we had yesterday was waiting for it to be approved before posting.

Price is currently $399.99 they were discussing a better CPU which would raise the price to $499.99 we were guaranteed the price will be no higher than $499.99 (He mentioned the CPU upgrade quite a bit almost as if they haven't really decided on a final spec could be a pricing issue.) also there is currently no plan for any type of trade in program for current PS4 users but that could change.

They stated that the GPU is twice as powerful as standard PS4 and much faster. They did not say exactly how fast but that is was running at a higher clock speed while being much smaller than the original.

It will have a 4k blu ray player and will upscale games that are not natively 4k.

Also there was talk of some sort of VR lounge for the media player app which is supposed to be getting a substantial upgrade.

It was stated plainly and with no room for interpretation that there are developers that already have development kits for the PS4K and that they are making games that will directly target and take advantage of the higher specs of the PS4K. It was also stated that these games will in fact work for the PS4 but with considerable sacrifices made to performance.

It was also made very clear that current games would not be getting any type of performance upgrades by being played on the system and any benefits to older games would come via patch per game and per developer. When asked if this was going to happen the response was "Its a possibility but doubtful with the exception of a handful of games."
We were also given a list of games that will be available at launch that will directly take advantage of the PS4K where the differences are and I will quote him "Significant."

For the PSVR

Eve Valkyrie
Robinson
GT Sport

For the PS4K

Deep Down (Thought this was dead)
GOW4 (This was the exact abbreviation on the sheet I can only assume its god of war 4)

There were more games on the list but these are the ones that stood out to me.

That's all I can remember off the top of my head I'll see if I can get any more information.

Edited to add:

I got a bit more information today but I am trying to find out who all knows about it before posting.

Also the word "Sacrifices" is being blown out of proportion. There are sacrifices made when making a console version of a game as compared to a PC game or when making an XB1 game as compared to a PS4 game. Don't expect PS4 games to all of a sudden become shit just expect them to run better on PS4K. I would expect a game that is really pushing the graphics envelope to run at 1080p 60fps on PS4K while the same game might run at 900p 60/30fps on PS4. Just the way I took it.

Well we know for a fact that Itsuno is working on something (probably DMC5). Hopefully Capcom brings the goods!

A new DMC is the only thing Itsuno could be working on that would make sense.

Sesha could probably pull up the Investor Report listing that backs this up (again). But suffice to say, DMC is pretty much the only "big deal" Capcom franchise that hasn't had a new game announced yet that would stand to be out by FY '17-'18, even though, RE, Sengoku BASARA and Monster Hunter have all had theirs since announced.

That said, as much as I want to believe...I wonder if they feel like the time is right, yet. Or if perhaps someone like Sony has since stepped in to scoop up exclusivity rights...

Itsuno only started his project earlier this year. Would not expect any announcement of that until next year at the earliest tbh.

If rumors are true, DMC 5 entered production at the very end of 2015. If they are doing it right and not putting out a cheap cash in, mid 2018 to early 2019 would be best case scenario. And that's if rumors are true. So E3 2017 would be the date to reveal.

To this day, I still find it weird how they revealed a Western-focused take on Devil May Cry at a Japanese event.

By the way, didn't Japan end up hating DmC worse than the rest of the world did? I heard as much, but I don't want to assume.

Pretty sure it did well.

I don't know about that. The game underperformed at just about every turn.
Actually at the end of the day it sold pretty well. Especially if you include the Definitive Version.

Also the fact that it sold 800,000 on Steam helped fill in the defecit compared to other DMC games which never had a timely PC release.

It was a slow start though, but when word spread it was actually a fun game people gave Ninja Theory a chance and probably came away pleased.

DMC2 is the lowest selling DMC game, and rightly so.

Should've entered production ages ago, but if so man Capcom is losing it.

It did well after being heavily discounted and quickly I might add. Also I think Capcom had to lower their sales expectations I think on 2 different occasions.

  1. As stated earlier, don't expect big reveals in a press release.
  2. Aside from maybe a Urien trailer, don't expect major SFV news until after the Capcom Cup (namely for Season 2).
  3. As much as I love me some Mahvel, that's a bit of a long-shot right now. Not impossible, sure, but a long-shot.

REmake 2 would steal thunder from RE 7, especially with how divided the fan base is over 7 at the moment. So I don't expect a full reveal until E3 2017. Besides, that was barely announced a year ago.

In Capcom's financials they're expecting to sell 2 million copies of a Monster Hunter title by the end of their fiscal year. 2 million is rather low if it's on the 3DS and if it's an NX title it's a bit high. Maybe it's not a mainline series but unlike MH:Stories, it will still bear some semblance of the main series but goes in a different direction.

I just hope it isn't a 3ds exclusive because I really dislike the ergonomics of the 3ds and am currently putting up with it just for MH.

See you in a year then. This thread has made me realise that REmake2 is the only Capcom title I'm interested in. Oddly I'm not even excited for DMC5.

I don't understand why people expect big announcements in a press releases before the actual conferences themselves.

What fucking sense does that make if a company did that? lol

I'm trying to think of the most well intentioned but misguided thing they could do with DMC5....

...What if Dante has a stamina bar?

No DMC5............... I know you can't put the title in your line-up before you actually announce it
(Duh!)
but at least give us one or two unannounced/secret/mystery/whatever titles in your list

I just NEED to see what Itsuno has been fucking working on for the past 8 months. Take a page out of EA's book, show concept arts, logos, devs sitting around in front of their computers.... just please show us SOMETHING ALREADY!

Please don't give them any ideas.

Yeah we'll totally announce a brand new DMC in a press release a month before TGS /s

Please don't give them any ideas.

I feel that it's better to be mentally prepared earlier.

Just like how Capcom sees the popularity of Outlast style games as inspiration for RE7, there's a real possibility that they might see Dark Souls/Bloodborne as an example of a popular action game. Let's not forget, Team Ninja pulled off Ninja Gaiden + Dark Souls

As mentioned earlier, it's probably gonna be reintroduced alongside the PS4 Neo reveal (if the leak from a while back still holds up).
The person you're responding to posted a minute after you. It's quite possible that they didn't see your other post.

Okay, here we go:

No Mega Man, despite a rumored comeback to tie into that new cartoon.

No Darkstalkers or Rival Schools despite earlier promises / hints.

No Marvel (3 re-release or 4) now that Disney is licensing out their IP's again.

No new game by Ace Attorney / Ghost Trick designer Shu Takumi.

No Lost Planet reboot (which I honestly think could be more succesful considering the current team-based online shooter popularity) or cross-over with Dino Crisis (think about it...no really).

No Resident Evil Remake 2 (to help reassure people that are being worried about RE7's direction).

Not even a season 2 preview for Street Fighter V (or soft relaunch...).

And of course no Devil May Cry, Deep Down or Dragon's Dogma 2, like mentioned, nor a new Power Stone, Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Final Fight or any other old IP being ignored still.

Setting myself up for disappointment as usual I guess. Still, this surely can't be everything they will have, right? 4 games with 2 being MH related? There must be at least one or two surprises, no? (...?)

It wouldnt take Capcom much effort just to announce a Devil May Cry title. They bloody announced the next God Of War without even showing anything.

Of course I wasn't expecting DMC5 to magically be on that list (DUR!!) but Capcoms normal trait is "unannounced title 1, 2" which is missing.

FFS Capcom you really take the piss.

More like PS4/NX. The Japanese handheld market for a mainline MH is too significant to ignore. Considering the NX's hardware will be comparable to PS4, it shouldn't be too hard for Capcom to put the next MH on both platforms.
