Why does he wear the mask!?
Yo this artist on Mighty Thor, holy shit.

This book is so fucking good

This is god-tier (no pun intended) costume design, its seriously one of my favorite costumes ever.

One of the best Marvel books out atm

My two favourite marvel books are both female oriented - All New Wolverine and Mighty Thor.

Is that series any good? And where does it fit into continuity?

Its alright, and not a clue now. Delay has fucked it up.

after i finish vol 2 of Uncanny Avengers, I'm going to wrap up Aaron's last Thor: God of Thunder volume

then i can finally dig into Lady Thor

I don't hate Lemire but at this point he's proven nothing to me. I haven't read Sweet Tooth though. Just Plutona and the first 4 issues of Ex X-Men. The next Lemire book I try will probably be Black Hammer.

It wouldn't matter who writes OLM though. I'm character first when it comes to big 2 books and I've never liked Logan at any age. I've only ever read his books when crossovers have forced me to.

As for Spidey your son should be just fine. It's a very brisk read that seems to be aimed at kids/young teens.

Right cheers for that man, I want to get him back on some monthlies but it's a bit of a struggle. Seems nonsensical but neither of the big two really put out much for his age range. He's definitely past the level of the really kiddie stuff, but there's a big gap there before you get to their general level of book.

Well I would give sweet tooth a really sincere recommendation man. I've bounced off quite a few of Lemire 's work for hire stuff but I find his own stuff to have a completely different tone and feel. Maybe having full control of the art is the difference, but I find his writing much better. Sweet Tooth is a really great character driven book with a lot of quiet touching moments about human natural (and it's fair share of horrific moments about human nature), but with this backdrop of a 'the road' type world and a really tantalising mythology and mystery as to how things got how they are. Fantastic stuff. Black Hammer looks awesome too, I can't wait for that.

This book is the real deal. I just recently got back into comics, but this has been the motherfucking standout for me. The way the text deals with the theme of loss for the characters and the reader is incredibly effective. Great story, characters, and art, too. I cannot say enough good stuff about this book.

Damn, sounds so good. Wonder if dark horse take the plunge here and do hardcovers for every arc, the way they did mind mgmt. Quality of dark horse trades are amazing regardless, you got me amped mang. After what happened with the artist initially etc it's even more of a triumph for it to be in such good shape.

Do you also not read this thread then? >_>

I wasnt even complaining per se, its the realities of thebdays we live in. And, I mean, I'm a MU boy so it would be extra crazy for me to avoid knowing shit.

I'm not constantly in this thread and I don't read every post.

XO Manowar is good so far. Not bad, not great, just good or maybe about decent with the last few issues. Moves along at a quick enough pace and doesn't bore but feels like I've barely read anything on the main character despite being 11 issues in.

He feels more like a device to move the plot forward then an actual character.

Actually, most of the characters are kinda just boring.

"Actually, now that I think about it I don't like this book."

;D

If that happens, I'm double dipping.

And what happened to Ormston?

Oh he had a cerebral hemorrhage or something man! Pretty horrific story to read at the time although in truth I have no idea how *serious* it was. I just know they had to delay the book by a year or something to give him time to get all of his functions back and be able to draw and stuff again. Really scary stuff to think about.

I'm gonna let it run for a while before I jump in. Maybe in the meantime Dark Horse will change their mind and start offering digital back ups. Probably not but a guy can dream.

Also it's 9 in the morning here and I still haven't been to bed. Thank god I don't have to work tonight.

I love how Batman casually
phones up the President
in Detective Comics #939. Clayfan had some good bits as well. Fun issue.

That Clayface moment busting through the window was so great. I hope more is done with him in the next arcs though. It's kind of a bummer to use him just as comic relief.

I want to ask what you've been doing all night but...do I want to ask?

I work second shift so I don't get home from work until 1 AM. Normally I'd have been asleep 3 or 4 hours ago though.

But in the last 8 hours I've walked my dogs twice, read a few comics, but mostly I've just been sitting here stoned watching Adult Swim/Cartoon Network. Oh and I've been downloading back ups from CMX. Only 438 more more to go!

Well at least you weren't looking at batman dick porn. You always have that with you. Your dogs are gorgeous btw! I'm dog daft, clocked them in your avatar first post I saw by you haha really awesome.

Sitting reading umbrella academy volume 1, after the young animal/Gérard way chat last night. It's been some time since I reread so probably chime in with some thoughts later. Just jumped in to say Lashley, good luck with your appointment this evening, I hope it goes well for you, and you got comicGAF regardless (y)

I love all this talk about Aarons run on Thor it's just made me buy the two hardcover collections of his first run.

Have you read em before? Those first twelve issues, god damn. I love it. Ribic is incredible, and the Guide issue is really great too. They will look find in HC.

(Probably more important , have you read scalped or southern bastards? Still catching up here on what everyone has/hasn't read)

I nearly finished Godbomb at some point but no idea why I stopped following it. I read the first trade of female Thor and loved it. I'm going to power through both hardcovers tomorrow then read the two Jane books I have, really looking forward to it.

I haven't really delved into his creator owned stuff to be honest. Big fan of his run on Wolverine, Wolverine and the X-men (need to buy the omnibus) and Doctor Strange. I've read good things about Southern Bastards.

Seriously, if they are able to replicate half of the chemistry between MJ and Spider-Man (Not Peter!) of this Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane book in the new movie and get the best out of Ultimate and mix it with Breakfast Club, it will be the amazing.

Not a big fan of Rom-Comics, but this book really catches me. Started this afternoon and already half way through the whole run

That was glaringly obvious, wasn't it.

Eh, yeah but almost too obvious. The next arcs make it seem more apparent.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. This is the next cover and while DC have done bait and switches before the last year with the actual cover being different in some books with deaths I doubt they'd do it now:

I feel like Rebirth covers have barely been relevant to the issues. Though this weeks Titans cover was pretty relevant and was great.

What a shitty rumor :(

I heard a rumor..

Yea, I'm totally on board with you guys in regards to Thor. Not only is Aaron straight up a fantastic writer and obviously well suited to the character, he's really shown how flexible the concept is, what it is to be *Thor*, what it is to be human, to step in to one and out of the other, for both the original and obviously FemThor. Great stuff. I can't speak to Uncanny avengers unfortunately, not a book I follow. Really up for Thor 3 though, both Thor and Strange movies should get more eyes on Aaron and what's he up to right now. I love that he can take high profile characters, tell very personal stories and keep the books fairly self contained to boot.

Hagi, his own stuff is really cool. When you read a bit about Aaron as a guy, his family backgorund and heritage, you realise why he has so much to say, and it reaally comes through in his work. The Other Side is a really cool book, Scalped, wow. Great great series and some really nice HCs out there now, literally a classic run. At this point I'd have to debate with myself if it's in my top 5 runs, but it's really high up there. I think Southern Bastards will outpace it though, I love that book, and Latour's art is just awesome.

And I haven't even got to read the goddamned yet! Every time I check the trade date it's pushed further away :(

've heard good things about Lemires Green Arrow run, really dig Descender, and Bloodshot reborn has been enjoyable ... haven't read any of his marvel books though, isn't he the "you've got a real hawk eye" guy?

I really like how he writes characters like Thor and Wolverine, he takes special care to delve into things you think probably shouldn't work (Wolverine running a school) but they invariably do. He also has a great emotional range with characters which you can see during Godbomb in how he effortlessly handles the distinct personalities of the three Thors. They all seem different but yet you can tell they are the same character plucked from different periods of his life. I love it.

When I get some more expendable cash and have less of a backlog I'll look into his creator owned work. The Goddamned seems really cool.

Rumor is the best character in Umbrella Academy

She's so great. I'm offended that when I google'd, I couldn't get a panel of her saying it, c'mon internet, up your game. Just fucking ugh, I reread the first two issues before dinner and it's all so good. The storytelling with the art is incredible. So much going on, and literally no exposition, the art carries it all the way and makes it work, so good.

Yea, definitely, I can get on board with all that, honestly. Whereas a Jeff Lemire who I really respect, one of my favourite writers and this is no diss, but I think he has as many misses as hits work for hire. I think he finds the voice of some characters, and falls a little flat with others. Aaron though, I honestly think that guy can step into the shoes of a character, nail it AND make it his own, expand it naturally. I see he is writing a book ,I'm buying it, no doubts, all his work is up there. (Except Star Wars. I just don't have the emoney for another full line of comics. Guess I lied)

hahaha."It took me a few days to figure out I was the only boy alive. But once I did - I was ecstatic."

whole milk greek yogurt was a mistake, which is odd since if i drink milk i prefer whole milk.

You make for bad yogurt though!

Finished The Name of the Wind, book never told you the name, it's a scam, i'm going to call it wind still i guess.

I still don't like The Mighty Thor, read the first issue of the relaunch after SW on MU.

I looked for the "I heard a rumor Mr President..." panel from Dallas and came up empty as well. Stupid internet.
