COMICS! |OT| August 2016. That's Rare Groove. Volume is Crucial.

man the Champions preview

man it's bad and dumb

man you feel it's a comic brought to you by the writer of Strange Fruit

Mark Waid is bad, except when all he has to do is say "okay chris samnee do something cool I'll put words on it"

Did you get a "I've seen this before" feeling with the train? It struck me after that it's just the Incredibles.

The implication of 'Growing up means realizing the joker makes more sense' is that when you grow older you become some sort of misanthropic nihilist.

And if the internet post Dark knight has taught me anything, it's just teenagers trying to be cool and edgy instead of holding some sort of valid philosophical position.

On the other hand, Trump is going to be our president and it's not going to be children who vote for him. The Joker gets things done, and he gets them done fast, believe me.

I'd take it to be as a child you want to be able to be the hero and fix things but when you get older you see how messed up the world truly is so fuck it. If the system is broken, so am I. Sidestepping how 2008 livejournal that is, the typeface on that picture is horrible.
That typeface is called Jokerman if I remember right

So awesome. Is the third OHC out yet, the first one with FemThor?

Amazon says 20th September for the UK. If I didn't already have the female Thor hardcovers it would be an instant purchase.

I'd like to say I'm surprised but I'm not.

All-New All-Different Avengers #13
Anyone else feel like this was an issue of The Vision? Anyways, time travel shenanigans!
I wonder where Vision took Kang and who the shadow is. Also, I'm betting that when Vision downloaded Kang's helmet info, that is what allowed Kang to take him over earlier in the run.

Hmm. Okay. Wordery was trying to tell me the FemThor HC was available to order but didn't ring true, this sounds more likely. How are is the page quality on your books, not too thin or wavey or anything? I Remember buying the Inifinity OHC which was a great collection in terms of content, ordering all the issues etc., really awesome, but the pages were practically see through, and they got that kind of wave effect super quick. Really disappointed me, given other OHCs I have from Marvel are really nice quality, don't know if there was some kind of factory issue there. I got rid of it in the end.

The pages don't seem that thin and the binding is really nice. I wouldn't say there is any issue with quality certainly no wavey pages. The only other recent hard cover collections I own are the Waid Daredevil ones and Secret Wars and they are practically the same to me. I wasn't sure initially but I'm glad I went physical over digital. Ribics art is just gorgeous as is the colouring. I just finished issue 4 and the last page with just Thor standing there covered in blood is a sight to behold.

I've been meaning to pick up Infinity as I've never read it so sorry to hear about the quality issues.

So what made me stop on a "2008, Live Journal, Teen Angst, No philosophical value picture with terrible font?" At the neighbors last night in the heart of suburbia America. After a long hard work week and kids going back to school. We gathered on the patio with drinks in hands and hung out. The neighbor breaks out a new water bong (omg!) and some marijuana (omg) and him and his wife proceeded to smoke it. Long story short, this was the first time she hit the good ol water bong and couldn't tell it was hitting because it was so smooth. She had too much. What happened next was her having a weed induced panic attack in which I spent 2 hours talking her down from shaking and crying to uncontrollable laughter and back and fourth. On the drug, at her best she was the Joker, and at her worst, she was Batman. Her laughing at everything was more normal to us then her worrying about everything.

Awesome man, good to here. I have the premiere HCs, of the godbomb stuff, but think I might just up to the OHCs, I really just got the premiere books out of impatience, and as I mentioned, the Infinity book gives me a bit of wariness. I'm not particularly a fan of the price point of the 6 issue Hcs otherwise. Hopefully they do OHC for the Aaron Dr Strange run too.

OH, and not to be too dramatic, I have had much worse haha, when I used to read Fables back in the day, I had brand new paperbacks that had pages falling out because the binding was so bad, so the Infinity thing isn't the worst ever. Definitely pick it up if you haven't read, it's some read, and has one of the best thor moments I've ever read. Having all the various series in correct reading order is a great perk too :) have you read any of the previous hickman avengers though, you might want to do that first, it's pretty dense.

I imagine they will most likely collect Dr Strange in OHC format next year and I will undoubtedly buy it. I'm probably going to buy the New Avengers OHC's first before getting Infinity just so I have a good idea of what's going on plus I've wanted to read that for a while to get the full workings of the T'Challa and Namor feud.

That sounds like a terrible experience

It was not fun. But if you care, you can't let them know that. So yeah, the duality of things has been on my mind today and there is no better comic book representation of that duality than Batman and Joker. They are the ying and yang of comic book characters.

Just got my DCBS shipment, today. Art of War Wonder Woman by Amanda Conner, ArtFX+ First Order Stormtrooper, Suicide Squad Harley Quinn statue, and Suicide Squad Katana statue. Boy those last two were a mistake.

New Ivy fan art by Anka based on one of his friend's design:

You're doing a good job being the new Messi of ComicGAF. Maybe we should just let the other one go.

You guys didn't read that Marvel Sales Guy interview? Those books blaze through the book market.

We don't read any of that stuff. Hell, we barely even read comics half the time.

Second Mary Jane loves Spider-Man Hardcover wasnt nearly as good as the first one :/

I've been trying to get those hardcovers but they seem tough to find. Is the series available digitally?

On the other hand, Trump is going to be our president and it's not going to be children who vote for him. The Joker gets things done, and he gets them done fast, believe me.

I still firmly believe that elections should involve the two candidates fighting to the death on pay-per-view.

How's the WW statue? Is it just the SS movie that makes the SS statues a mistake?

I think Hillary could take Trump in a fight unless Trump falls on her.

You probably want to grab both avengers series man. I mean I won't over state it and if you're only interested in new avengers characters then by all means, but infinity 's backbone really sits on both. Great stuff anyway, you can't really go wrong with any of it. Not a traditional avengers reader (or team books really) but hickman Brought me to the party, and it's definitely a nice move form marvel having a flagship book that's so different to traditional storytelling there.

On a side both that more goes down the hickman side of things and my own preferences for spy stuff in the.marvel universe but his secret warriors run is AWESOME.

I actually have the Secret Warriors Omnibus and yeah it's amazing. Great cast of characters and really the last time Nick Fury was used well before being thrown in the trash. It was the first Marvel book I really got into along with Invincible Iron Man and Brubakers run on Daredevil.

I've read a lot of the Avengers side of Hickmans run and I wasn't overly keen on it to be honest though I might give it a reread seeing as I own most of it digitally to see if I change my tune.

Over time I've slowly begun to prefer Superman and Lex Luthor as far as hero/villain relationships go. Two people who are ideal pinnacles of humanity, with Supes being a physical and moral peak, while Lex is essentially the modern ideological version of a "perfect" man is (money, looks, intelligence). Both of whom claim to want to bring humanity to its peak and get it to strive to become better. The difference, of course, being that Lex's motives are out of greed and ambition, while Supes does what he does out of a simple intrinsic kindness and physical capabilities.

I'm butchering my analysis a lot because I have to go to work, but it's a relationship I've begun to prefer. I find Batman/Joker too shallow and repetitive for my liking nowadays.
