Playstation doing what SPE and Marvel never will.

Deliver a worthwhile Spider-Man experience. Just remember when Spider-Man goes 0 for 6 in the movie realm next year, that there is this bright light on the horizon. At least someone out there is going to look after Spidey.
You shut your mouth dont you wish that on the Tom holland!

Have much more hope for the movie than the actual game. This Spidey game really needs to impress me.

I have yet to be really disappointed by a Marvel film. Heck, maybe Tom Holland won't turn out to be a joke.
Idk I think they'll both knock it out of the park which would honestly be great for both of them, while not connected in story or anything marketing wise coupe a goldmine if they're both excellent

Spidey game formula that would be an instant 10/10: let me date Carol Danvers or Black Cat and let me be the Spidey I wanna be.

Spidey movie formula that would be an instant 10/10: witty, clever, guy yet still incredibly cool and down to earth.

Spider-Man's home. I'm betting Homecoming will be better than the game.

So it looks like Uncharted 4's Lead Animator is about to start work on this

I keep forgetting how beautifully nuanced the animations were in UC4.

This can only bode well for Spider-man. Are we really, finally on the cusp of a good (
dare I even say amazing
) Spider-man game?

Web of Shadows was already amazing. I don't know why people keep forgetting that game.

Any news on swinging mechanics?

I think E3 interviews are the only info out there. No real info about swinging mechanics but they've confirmed open-world and that they want to introduce a parkour traversal mechanic (I assume something like the Assassin's Creed games, hold a button to enter fancy parkour mode). I guess open-world means they want to also introduce a satisfying swinging mechanic. AFAIK IG is known for their traversal mechanics.

Horrific Spidey voice and lack of freeroaming at the end of the story + I'm generally no fan of apocalypse storylines in Spidey games. Spidey stories should be more about day to day struggles than world-ending disasters.

The hell are you going on about? More like 4 for 6 if Homecoming ends up being bad. Although I don't really see how it could be. Sony might be producing it, but Marvel is essentially making it.

Wow. Fantastic news. I consider ND to be the absolute best animation wise.

Uh, they aren't actually all that above average outside of cutscenes, so I'm not sure why this matters. Unless this is going to end up being yet another "cinematic blockbuster" game where you basically hold forward and hit X to the next explosive cutscene.
In between bits of substandard gunplay of course.

Is it possible they will show early game play footage at PS meeting? this will be great game to showcase Neo power.

I wouldn't get my hopes up high for another trailer/showcase at the PS Meeting. I'd put my money on December showcase at the earliest (another trailer or interview, probably no gameplay).
The reveal trailer is supposed to be stock PS4 gameplay.

I guess this is a 2018 title seeing as they said they wont reveal the release date any time soon.

I think it's possible. IIRC the Marvel Games people made it seem like updates would be coming somewhat regularly (or that the next update was not extremely far away from E3) which is why some speculated it would be at Comic-Con but obviously that wasn't the case, but three months later in early September seems plausible. I hope it is there.

Web of Shadows had the best combat of the modern Spidey games byfar and no offense to Insomniac but I dont't think they'll top it. As it looks now, the combat seems pretty standard.

Jumping from enemy to enemy was so satisfying and they actually did manage to make air combat fun in a Spidey game.

Everything else about the game was kind of crummy though. But I definitely had a sort of unfair resentment towards Beenox the direction they went with the IP, even when they went open-world again.

Really the real villain was probably Activision.

Don't agree with this at all. I can't name many studios that have the level of animation that ND has in there games or just the level of improvement they show from game to game.

As for your cinematic blockbuster comments, not sure what that has to do with animation or Spiderman... But okay!

It was a drive-by comment that was weirdly aggressive in tone for some reason, so I wouldn't think anyfhing of it. Curious to see who is producing better animation in their video games than Naughty Dog, though.

This is absolute madness. Uncharted 4's in-game animations are fucking incredible. I still boot the game up from time to time just to move around an environment or two.

You are a cynical chap, Sanctuary.

With the exception of Web Strikes, the combat in the game was essentially mashing the attack button in combination with others for win more purposes. It wasn't great by any means, especially when you can just web strike, which is more beneficial. It had very little thinking and there was a lot of combat sections, which takes away from the traversal element of Spider-Man. It was just swing there, mash square for victory, swing there, maybe switch to black suit and do it again. These ideas were better implemented into the Beenox beat 'em-ups in my opinion for better flow in combat.

None of the Spider-Man games had good combat. Spider-Man 2 was a precursor to the Arkham style combat that we know and love today but it was very basic and forced you to impact web everything before attacking. It was fun for its time but that was 12 years ago.

Web of Shadows has shades of a good game in there but the awful story, voice acting, script, mindless combat sections and the dumb RPG-like morality system really ruins the experience. The quick-time events were horrible too as they came out of nowhere and gave you no time to react. It tried to throw in everything that was hot at the time (Mass Effect, God of War) and it just doesn't seem right. Some of the boss battles were definitely cool, but I feel like Spider-Man games typically always deliver on that front. I also agree with how apocalypse based storylines just don't work for a Spider-Man anything. Game story wise, Ultimate Spider-Man and the OG PS1 games still had it best.

Best wishes.

Right, ND, Uncharted, it makes no sense!

Maybe they've actually done something with character fluidity and animations during the actual gameplay that is a vast improvement over all of the Uncharted games and TLOU. I admittedly have yet to play UC4, because the previous games were more than enough of that style for me for a lifetime. Without having played UC4 however, based on everything else they've done, they are pretty standard for an AAA game outside of cutscene animations.

He is not going to produce a list of 100 studios to back up his average statement.

Just let that person be, make a mental note that they are a shit poster and don't get hooked in the future.

If you don't like Uncharted as a game that's okay. But your assessment of Naughty Dog as a whole is way off base. They are widely considered one of the preeminent developers in the entire gaming industry by both fans and other developers. They don't hire people who don't have serious skills. So if a lead animator from one of the best looking games on console joins an already talented studio like Insomniac, well, it's not hard to see why people are even more excited.

For me. I think Spider-Man as a character presents interesting animation challenges because of the way he moves and contorts his body traversing the environment and in combat. So it will be cool to see how animators bring that to life. That part in the E3 trailer where he is leaping through the coffee shop without touching the ground took my breath away. So I think Insomniac is on the right track here and Mr. Yosh only makes them better.
