KINGSGLAIVE: Final Fantasy XV Thread: Everything for the future king

I watched Kingslave a litlle while ago... and I liked it. Of course there are imperfections but it was good on overall. The last part was a bit confusing, I didn't saw what happened well.

Anyway, I would say it's a good film to understand the game and its context. It will be good for the players but I don't think non-gamers will like the end. Oh, Visual Works did a very good job with the image quality. It's so beautiful. Can't wait to see their CG parts in FFXV!

Time for spoilers!
- So if Glauca is in the game, it would be safe to assume he doesn't die in the film right ? I wonder if Noctis will see his true face...
- It's strange that we didn't see Gentiana next to Luna. Maybe she was on mission or she is a summon ? Anyway, we will see in the game ahah.
- Nyx and Libertus in the game ? I hope to see them, especially Nyx. It's an interesting character.
- The Lucii ring is too mysterious yet. It's possible to form a freezing wall to protect ourselves, to launch a fire magic and electricity (without grenades). And summon the Knight of the Round Table. But it's sure there are more things to learn about this in the game (Ultima?).

The movie visually looked fucking AMAZING

Everything else about the movie uh ok, thats kinda cool, to hmmm, ok.

Square Enix CGI is just crazy. Sad to say I don't think the movie is going to do good.

I don't think so.
Nyx is heavily implied to die at the end, given that he is literally disintegrating into ash by the time we last see him

Just watched the movie, not good but not bad. This movie has some potential but gets negative reviews due to bad editing and poor story.
About the character: I actually hate
Ravus. What a letdown. He blamed Regis for his mother's death but not Glauca. Stupid guy. I think his role has changed too much from this potential villain to a boring character that no one remembers.
And one more thing is that the film didn't deliver any special moment which I love from FFVSXIII (Even Somnus scence or Treaty scene)

English is the language this movie was made for, director's original vision blah blah blah. Plus the japanese dialog clashes with the western aesthetics.

I thought it was so stupid BOTH times when
Libertus and Nyx both decided it would be better to stab Glauca in the armor right beside his head (aim for the neck I guess?) instead of in the head itself...

The movie got me interested in the overall FFXV story though. The setting is amazing. The mix of modern and fantasy is quite awesome.

Speedwagon

Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel. Yabuki turned off voice chat in Mario Kart races. True artists of their time.
I didn't like the film too much besides the animation. I remember Ardyn's VA talking about how wonderful the writing was, but I found it rather bland. There were a few scenes where I thought this was a dub due to the writing like
when they found Crowe's dead body
. I didn't like Aaron Paul's performance for Nyx; his voice just doesn't match that kind of strong, foreboding character. I guess the film just lacked much depth or love.

Advent Children is still king

One thing I'll agree on, I think I want to play FFXV a lot more now after watching Kingsglaive. I also hope Nyx is in the final game.

Actually, someone said that PSN had DLC for the upcoming game attached to the movie - is this true? I can't find anything about that on the PS Store, the only "bonuses" are the typical blu-ray behind-the-scenes vignettes.

What? The only bonuses I've seen are movie related. Someone's yanking your chain bro.

Just so everyone knows, on PSN there is a bonus for a set of outfits for the game. Not sure if the other platforms have that.

I was gonna buy it on PSN but if he's making shit up I'll do Amazon, at least then family members on my account can download and watch it too. (PS account is too restrictive)

Saw the movie last night in a theater. I really liked the visual effects and soundtrack. Amazing stuff. The characters were hit and miss. I loved Nyx though. What an awesome character. 7/10 movie. Definitely better than AC and SW.

Liked the movie but...
it felt like a few characters are gone too quickly, and the betrayals lacked real impact since you knew none of the characters long enough for the murders to make any sense at all. The commander's betrayal was so obvious it was painful, and made an equal amount of no sense. It was about as well developed at that part in Die Hard 2 when the leader kills the one guy cause he wasn't with them in Grenada, cause then he "wouldn't have to do this /slices throat"
Aaron Paul's voice didn't really fit with Nyx IMHO, and Lena Headey sounds too old for Luna's character. Overall her CG character did look much older than the ingame models we've seen.

Gripes aside, that was some intense action. Good lore build up, and neat ideas for granting magic.
Naturally KOTR always add to the awesomeness.

Can it be Nov 29th yet?

Luna in this film reminded me of those dumbass escort mission NPCs who always try and run into the line of fire and get you a game over.

Yea, its PS4 store only. I'd assume that's cause the web store doesn't have splash pages but don't quote me on that.

Isn't "Royal Raiment" the same costume DLC we get from the Deluxe Editions onward?

Final Fantasy XV Deluxe Edition
Final Fantasy XV Deluxe Edition Includes:

Exclusive Steelbook
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy Movie Blu-ray
Final Fantasy XV Game
Bonus Content
Royal Raiment Outfit
Weapon: Masasume (FFXV)
Recolor: Platinum Leviathan

I mean, I'm glad that it's not exclusive to buying the movie on such a restricted platform, but the overlap is kind of lame.

This was a decent movie that didn't bore me. My only problem was the character models. Sometimes they were high quality and other times not so much. It was very distracting to have a great looking scene one minute and the next the characters looked like game models. The characters' body were lower quality than the face and their body moved oddly; sometimes their mouth barely moved. Made me think of Pre-rendered and in-game cutscenes for video games.

Looks like you can't remotely queue a movie to download to your PS4? Only games? Just bought the movie on PSN and don't see a way to tell it to download to PS4... does it just stream it I guess?

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that

Such a disappointing character in this movie,
especially since she is essentially the only female presence here. Crowe is only there for a hot second and dies to serve another character's weakly developed subplot.

Most of her lines sounded like they were the search results that came back from typing in "Strong Princess Character" in Google. Calling her a strong female character is so laughable. She ripped off a part of her dress to make a bandage that one time, I guess. Lol but even that is a cliché in of itself.

From top to to bottom it feels like females in the world of FFXV only serve the purpose of motivating the male characters to do more important things. It's very cheap because they're just padding out back stories with dead moms and sisters. And I don't have much faith in FFXV proper changing any of that.

gentiana and iris are our last hope
I don't know why you would think that when she's basically the obligatory "little sister waifu"

When they included the "hang out with this girl!" not-so-transparently-dating segment in the game, it's pretty obvious why Iris exists

He's not, on the store splash page it says get bonus kingsglaive costumes.

OMG I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT ON PSN IF I KNEW THAT

Ughhh

The DLC that comes with Kingsglaive is the Royal Raiment DLC which is:

So no reason to freak out
?

Oh wait it's the pre-order DLC as well? Shit everyone I'm sorry.

Guys, the Kingsglaive outfits are part of the game's main story when the party returns to Insomnia to reclaim their city:

That was garbage. I loved it.

Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV |OT| That was garbage. I loved it.

Sounds like what the EasyAllies guys said :D They said they had a blast and loved it, BUT it's terrible, lol.

https://youtu.be/jEyQd7aQu3I?t=1h44m22s

Their Kingsglaive impressions are hilarious.

Narratively bizarre.
Visually incomprehensible
3/10...but theater-going experience 10/10. (????)
This movie is terrible and I love it.

It made no sense.
Visually terrible, camera, editing-wise.
Makes Greengrass look sterile.
Voice acting beyond terrible.

Hope she'll become a temporary fighter as well. It would be a great way to show how Noctis grants someone the ability to use weapon.

Being a guest fighter doesn't mean she'll be a decent female character.

Vanille was a full-fledged cast member of 13.

Just watched. As someone who has loved Final Fantasy for 25 years, I can't take a dispassionate critical stance. I can see why folks thought the action cuts were too fast.

But... I found that extremely hype. Fantastic fan service. Far better than Spirits Within or Advent Children.

Also, I know people like to complain about anything that's changed from the old days, but I don't see how the movie portrayed Luna as weak. She wasn't an action heroine but she was serious about getting shit done. All the Luna bagging seems more meme-driven at this point than actually rooted in a fair appraisal of her qualities.

Also, KOTR, just awesome. Loved that Regis joined the line of Kings, pretty obviously Noct's ultimate phantom weapon is going to be his dad's sword

I was replying to your "why Iris exists" comment. I think she'll be more than just a little sister/love interest. But with the team's current track record, who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just came to say that I just finished watching the movie.

It's a great movie. Loved everything about it, enjoyed it until the very end.

my score: 9/10

PS: I know some ppl like to jump on the 'ff-sucks' bandwagon but I can't really find anything bad about this movie. It was pretty great. I'm super hyped for the game, I think it will be one of the best.

I will leave the thread now, I'm afraid of spoilers ;_;
