Meet the Titans in Titanfall 2

wow, those other titans look great!

Making the titans a set and designed style is really preferable, I think. Gives them a bit of personality and allows them to be picked and counter picked like fighting game characters.

Well some of the titans look cool but this isn't what I wanted exactly. This will probably be a game where like the first where it becomes a lot better months after. People forget titanfall had a lot of issues at launch as well.

Yeah, it really did. They did a bang up job getting it where it needed to be, but the playberbase dropped off fast. I hope they can remedy things with this one.

This is what I was talking about above, they take good stuff and then mix it with bad and that makes it balanced...but really it just makes it frustrating.

You know... because of the executions... I don't think they have any plans to allow us to mix and match =(

40mm + Cluster bruh...

Also Tone's lock-on stuff kinda makes it solid that you won't be able to as well.

I been hyped all year for this game, however after the tech test I'm left with not much hope.

TF1, after the beta, rushed out and reserved collectors edition

TF2, after tech test, rushed back to tf1 and not reserve tf2

TBH, really, Titan gameplay was still fun enough that I'm still very intrigued. I have the opportunity to build a PC for this game or stick to Xbone (would love a bundle). I'm definitely in after seeing the 40mm honestly. That's at least 40% of my fun from R1 in there. <3

They shoulda had Legion and Tone in the tech test. It was nice to play with some of the new stuff, but the familiarity of mowing down pilots with the chain gun, or thumping other titans with the 40mm would have mitigated some of the criticism, imo.

I'm excited to experience all these cool finisher animations in 1st person...

RIGHT RESPAWN?!

(If not at launch, at least sometime down the road damn it!)

Damn, Plasma Railgun was crazy good in titan v titan fights. If you crit hit full charge they're basically dead.

All you had to do is dash into one of those Titans and they slowly walking back in fear while you turned them to rubble. Outside of LTS they were useless.

Like, the Cluster is probably the only way this Titan will kill any Pilots.

Gotta have some teamwork or excellent positioning. Wasn't a weapon I would bring to every mode of course.

I bet they tuned it a bit more for general play, and it will still be balanced because it's built around that specific titan.

And you have to goose someone with it to get the 1000/1000.

I gave up after like 5 tries.

That is a really huge IF. To get a full charge you had to be zoomed in thus slowing your movement and mobility and the round had travel time making it even easier to miss at range as small movements could cause a total whiff. The plasma railgun needed to be hitscan but since it wasn't that made it completely inferior to the 40 mm.

So I take it they won't have Big Punch and Nuclear Core perks then? :/ Neither were in the beta so I'm guessing they've been restricted to specific Titans or, worse still, taken out all together.

My main build in the first game was Ogre with those two perks so I can pretty much punch things and then explode when I'm done. Not necessarily effective especially in high level but at least I had fun playing the game how I wanted to play it.

No Titan custom loadouts has been a massive sticking point for me, I don't like being dictated how I use my Titans (or in this case, which Titans I have to use). In the first game I liked the challenge of trying to take on the more agile Atlas or Stryder mechs, in this they've simplified it in a hero format so it's easier to recognise the threat, rather than allowing players to try and figure out an opponent's build, which then encourages hard counterpicking rather than adapting against an opponent with your current Titan.

Shame 'cos all I really wanted was Titanfall 1 with more weapons, more Titan types and more content (with slide and grapple hook as welcome additions). Along with some of the other changes I'm not so keen on (changes to rodeo, no regenerating shields for titans, etc.), it's just gonna be a wait and see for me methinks. :(

I disagree about making it hitscan. That would kind of make it bland imo. Landing crits across the map would be much easier and less exciting/rewarding to do so.

oh fuck Angel City is back?

Girl; Angel City never left.

I can't believe they brought back the Plasma Railgun, that thing was a huge PITA in TF1
If only the people working on it agreed and had then spent some of these last few years making it sing. >_>

Not really seeing huge bonus of flying Titan unless it can get on top of actual terrain. It just is going to make you a giant easy to hit target by floating around like that up in the air, and with how low much of the terrain is.... your suddenly visible to everyone
Easy target; that can be true, but remember that North Star is a malicious long-range god. A sniper. It can do some truly evil shit with that hover in the right hands, in the right situations.

Even short range, you can pull off some nice ambush vectors & other surprises.

But sure; North Star is probably least effective at short range. Do not play rock-em-sock-em with Scorch.

"Outrun.
Outlast.
Hit 'em quick, get out fast."

Rayme if you're here forward the idea of combiner Titans to the higher ups, I know you want to.

In my entire life, whenever anyone anywhere has said "giant robots", my brain's chemical response is an immediate "-that-fit-together-like-voltron??". Before I'm even aware; like picking up a hot potato.

I wonder how all of these titans and their abilities will affect single player.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwbutTQ8Yow

he looks customisable or he gets different abilities throughout the game. He is seen using sword block and other abilities in this trailer.

Would be nice if BT(?) is unlockable, and simply has generic executions so he can have any combination.

But really, Tone's abilities all complement each other with the lock-on mechanic, so I'm not sure if that could work.

Am I suspecting a hover + plasma charge from afar to be the BnB of this Titan? I can see that causing them to steal so many Bounties lol

How would it make it bland? It would make it useful. What makes a weapon rewarding is for it to be actually useful and not frustrating to achieve its full potential. As was pointed out previously, it was hilariously easy to shutdown a Plasma Railgun user thus turning it in to a non-rewarding weapon to use.

Rayme: You will have to had made some pretty damn big changes to the Railgun in order for it to be more than an "ooh snap I pulled off a sick trick-shot (but pay no attention to the other 50 times when I got totally shutdown) type of weapon". We'll see.

Another thing I thought of is that Titans have less dashes than before and in scorch's case he has no dash. Looks like Northstar could absolutely counter scroch since scorch's shots are slow at long range, no dash, and northstar just hoves above a lot of his ground based AOEs.

I think the trailer did a little to show some of the potential interplay between the titans, such as the ronin kicking scorch's ass after it teleported - aka tracer blink :D - past his core attack.

It was actually useful. I already pointed that out. It was just not a general use weapon. They've taken to a completely different titan design this time around so it's largely irrelevant as I have already pointed out several significant differences.

Thanks for the responses. I had forgot about that trailer. Looks like there'll be opportunities to fiddle around with some of the different abilities in the campaign. I'll be interested to see if Respawn is able to come up with some really memorable encounters.

Well, Rayme said they spent time changing it so I'm guessing it wasn't quite as useful as you're making it out to be...

Fair enough, northstar has a dash too. And if you're using a dash on scorch you're not really min-maxing his play, giving up a tech slot just for a dash could be underwhelming unless for some reason extra dash ends up being the only useful tech choice.

as per my edit, that wasn't scorch, but it does look the same.

Nah, the tech slot had the option for increase targetting with Auto-Titan. I forget what the other option is, but dash + scorch was super important, especially for flame wall lmao

not sure if you saw this video but, 3 minutes on I'm using dash with Scorch here https://youtu.be/7_PTYa9cKWo?t=3m

As I said they probably altered it to be of more general use and to make northstar more viable without making the weapon OP compared to the 40mm.

Well we do know not all the options were in right?

Scorch was nigh unplayable for me without the dash. Pretty sure I couldn't play any Titan without any dashes at all. Might was well just charge at any Titan you see because you sure as hell aren't going to dodge any damage.
