Honestly, I dont see why story mode battles cant have some modicum of difficulty. Even people who play very casually for the story want some sort of challenge...I assume.

I'd say Final Steps normal is about on par with stuff like Titan HM or The Chrysalis, while Singularity Reactor was a complete cakewalk even at i142.

Hell, even Bismarck normal when going through HW for the first time the snakes DPS check wasn't passed for a few tries when I did it. You've also got 3-4 HW abilities instead of just one like in Ravana so you start hitting something resembling the current HW rotations instead of just the ARR rotation. And even if you entered at 54 depending on your class it doesn't actually change anything, like Dragoons just get BotD at 54. Summoners only have Painflare and Ruin 3 at 54 which was only 120 potency during 3.0, remember that shit? Yet SCH had Broil which was 170 out the gate.

With the amount of wipes I've seen on easy battles like The Chrysalis or Steps of Faith (even post nerf) I'm not too surprised. The more casual people tend to ignore mechanics at the worst times.

Hell I had a run of Void Ark the other day where I basically was trading aggro as a DRG with a monk because all 3 tanks were total garbage and that's a dungeon casual players tend to ignore.

I'm not bashing casual players either. I'm not exactly hardcore myself. I'm just saying adding harder content is iffy. The hardcore not helping and leaving after a single wipe doesn't help either.

Nothing worse than being roulette'd into The Final Steps of Faith, seeing the bonus for new players pop (never a good sign), and then seeing it's one of the fucking tanks. May as well just quit then and save time.

It's great that some of the MSQ quests have a challenge to them, but the problem is when they only suddenly have a challenge after being a breeze for the rest of the time. One of the problems with The Final Steps of Faith is that it uses a new mechanic for the MSQ -- but not a new mechanic overall -- in the form of stacking. Having blasted through all the MSQ and ignoring most of the side content right up to Patch 3.3, stacking was never introduced along the way, but has been part of other raids since time immemorial. I know I had no idea what to do when that icon appeared the first time, and I suspect many other casual players have the same experience. In fact, just two days ago, I saw a new healer run away from the stack, and then we were wiped just like that.

I hope they take a close look at what must be the dodgy clear rate for Final Steps and make the right conclusions -- not to avoid difficult encounters, but to ensure that the player base is educated in their mechanics before they approach them. As it is, the first stack that casuals will see in the game is probably the most punishing one so far.

I wonder if they will allow flying in the expansion. Do you think people would react negatively to flight being kept only in Heavensward areas?

Wow tried to do it and people threw a goddamn fit. The playerbases aren't the same obviously but I still don't think they want to do it just in case.

Awesome. Finally got the new computer set up with this game. Everything on max, at 1080p and am getting 40 - 45fps. Course that is no fate or anything. Still if it keeps above 30, this is a massive improvement to what I had.

You don't actually need any of the pvp armor, just wear anything over i150. For most purposes, morale doesn't actually do anything at the moment.

Frontlines is a much more laid back enviroment the feast, so try starting off there. Also be sure to also set all of your pvp actions to your bar.

Flight doesn't "harm" FF14's design as it does to WoW so I'm pretty confident it's here to stay (unless we get an underwater expansion). The only thing I don't really like about flight is that it limits their potential for creative ground mounts, as everything has to fly by default. But that's a relatively small thing.

We won't be able to fly in Legion areas until mid-expansion when everyone is tired of running around! But it's fine, the areas are very well-crafted.

I'm not a big pvp player but I trust everyone to correct my mistakes.

You don't need any pvp gear to do pvp. Morale, the pvp stat has been discarded in everything but the original Wolves Den that nobody runs anymore. Just jump into whichever mode you feel like doing. The current level 60 pvp instances are Fields of Glory (shatter) which is a large scale pvp mode with objectives and The Feast, which is smaller scale.

Remember to have a look at your pvp skills and to set them on your hotbars, they're very important. As you rank up, you get more AP to upgrade them, this is the only functional advantage of being higher rank.

Someone in-game had a good question :

Now that our cooldowns reset after wipe, will that also extend to potions?

If so, potion crafters are about to make bank since you will have no excuse this time for not using it and burning through those .

I didn't get my girlfriend a ticket, maybe the gods will be merciful and grant us tickets at the door like last time.

Good morning. I'll have to do the Antitower, but no one wants to go with me..and I hate using the duty finder, people are mean and shitty.

I usually am the kind of "I explain everything to everyone" person, I can't stand negativity in my favourite game.

I actually need to do it too. I might do it in the next hour? I just watched a strat video and it's pretty basic. I'll probably DF it but don't mind helping if you still need it?

I'm a WHM, Marzipan Cupcake

Wait wait What are PVP Skills, do they tell you specifically, skills PVP? Like extra effects

Thank's I will try it out

Edit: I checked there are pvp actions and moves that have pvp effects

Loving how much better I can play this. Not 4k, but 2k with everything maxed. I hate how you have to redo your action bars and all that. Such a pain.

I have a question, I notice now when I turn the camera, it follows me. Like I can't see the front of my character to save my life. Is it my controller settings? I never had this problem with the same controller on my last pc I had.

Change to legacy controls.

The raiding in Balmung is infuriating. How can people still not handle Nidhogg, months later? That and RareX shitting up the groups is just... Argh.
