Thanks for the clarification.

I'm not expecting anything crazy, but we're in the "secret sauce" portion of the hype cycle, so "5.5 teraflops" is going to float to the top while while anything non-crazy that Kenny is saying isn't going to get quoted at all.

I'm going conservative with my predictions, boost to 3.6 and 2.1 on the GPU and CPU respectively. I can be happily surprised if it's more than that.

I'm so irritated, I tried to get the afternoon off to watch the event, but I couldn't ... Hopefully, my phone will stream it well enough. More importantly, I hope I can pre-order the Neo if they announce preorders. I have the worst time doing that stuff on my phone.

ill be home home by 2:30 lol, leaving work early just in case preorders open the same day so i can get one in case stock is low

I dunno, I just feel something like that would be at something like PSX, or Rockstar's own reveal vids. Sony hasn't talked much about this event if we're honest, hardly a blog post in sight.

I'm so confused by this. I also have a Samsung 4k with moderate input lag.

I have heard reports of increased input lag with HDR mode on the new Xbox. Is this something to expect going forward?

I showed before that the Killzone demo at the show was using way above 4GB already. Read the PDF on Guerrilla's website for the full breakdown. At least they must have known about the 8GB.

I agree the 8GB was relatively late as these things go but it was down to whether Samsung could deliver millions of the 4Gbit chips IMO. If they couldn't then Sony would have been stuck at 4GB because I highly doubt they could go with 32 2Gbit chips on the motherboard.

The fact Sony didn't promise or share much to indicate there could be 8GB to all devs was a smart move and lead to the massive PR win we still see today.

I'm fully expecting 4.2 & I'll be happy with that upgrade tech-wise. My main 'concern' is how devs push the console - I'm not fussed over 4K (I figure that'll be PS5 territory to do properly), but am intrigued by the possibilities offered by the increase in power at 1080p, especially the possibility of over sampling alongside the chances of getting 1440p titles to 90fps for PSVR.

I realise the latter is going to be unrealistic, and 1080/90 OR 1440/60 are more likely solutions however.

Maybe. Maybe not. The rumor has gained momentum though and we've discussion it, or mostly me posting it and likely setting myself up for more crushing disappointment lol, mainly due to..
  • E3 rumor about Sony's press conference
  • The Kinda Funny guys speculated and made a prediction of it showing up because of maybe said E3 rumor and also that the event is in New York, Rockstar's backyard.
  • Jason Schreier in a recent Kotaku Split Screen podcast made a similar prediction citing the location of the event, the timing and E3 rumor.
  • Take Two has another investors call in November where for twice already this year they've said "Rockstar is working on exciting new projects that will be revealed soon". I mean you would think something would be revealed between now and November so Zelnick doesn't have to say that shit again and the rest of the known releases and line up is empty after October..

So the E3 rumor. This thing was never confirmed nor denied even by Jason and given his stories published thats kind of surprising and Colin on Kinda Funny even said that he pretty much wrote off the rumour as just reddit nonsense, until he heard the same story from people he absolutely trusts. I mean the whole Sony conference ended weird like a wet fart like something was replaced last minute and prior to the event there were multiple insiders here on GAF, vetted by the mods, who threw down and stated that Red Dead 3 was going to be at Sony's conference.

So I mean I could see it being at PSM no question but there's a lot of possibilities it won't be so who knows. lol Me personally, I like and could see the idea based on whats happened in the past with Rockstar that with Game Informer revealing, at least should be, their new issue this week on likely Tuesday that it could be a Rockstar cover story for Red Dead. That would have our first look at the artwork, screenshots and details and then the next day at PSM the first look at footage running on Neo.

Or none of it happens and we end up waiting for Rockstar to announce something out of the blue or put your hopes on another event like PSX or the VGAs. lol

A 10 teraflop GCN 4 GPU would probably be closer to a GTX 1070, the Fury X is a 8.6 teraflop GCN GPU and the 1070 is around 15-20% faster than it.

The 1070 is also around 10% faster than a 980 Ti.

The rumor that carries the most weight is the E3 one, because the ending to that conference made no sense whatsoever. I trust Colin so I'm going to remain hopeful, but it just doesn't make "sense" for Rockstar to show a new game at a new console's reveal, they hate the spotlight being taken away from them.

You're talking about DX11. DX12 + Async Compute utilizes 100% of the GCN ALUs.

I agree, the end to Sony's event felt a lot like something was missing, I don't think they intended to finish with Days Gone.

I don't know if that's necessarily true given their past reveals like GTAV on PS4 at E32014 or GTAIV announced and revealed on Microsoft's stage at E3 2007 or 08 I believe? Red Dead Redemption was even revealed and first shown off as a PS3 tech demo at Sony's E3 2005 conference and behind closed doors. lol

If PSM this week kind of followed their 2013 event and they talk about brand support from first and third party developers while showcasing new titles then I don't see why Rockstar wouldn't be there.

Also the fact that some of the insiders that somehow leaked 95% of Microsoft's E3 conference and about 60% of Sony's said it would be there but then retracted on their original statements adds some legitimacy to this claim.

Yeah in truth it was actually just that original GTAV reveal that was independent from any formal event.
